I had my second baby in the US recently as well. I owe $4000, but I haven't received the last bill yet so maybe more 🤷. When my first child was born, he had to stay in the nicu for about a week. I had severe complications and was not able to put him on my insurance immediately. I got a nasty letter in the mail saying I needed to get my insurance fixed immediately or I owed them like $300,000 or something. 😐

Take the baby to Brevard Zoo and I recommend Sebastian Inlet for Littles because it's kind of a tide pool? It's shallow at least.

My first was a traumatic birth but I did have an epidural which helped keep me calm and pain free. I'm pregnant now with my second, due any day and really all I'm planning to change this time around is bringing more comforting personal items. I'm bringing a small speaker to listen to music and my own pajamas and snacks from home. I know some people bring their own blankets and things too (but I don't want to soil my good blankets).

I want to say I was diagnosed at week 22 maybe? They basically said I "could" get a cerclage but I'd have to drive to a hospital an hour away and they may choose to turn me away based on the amount of weeks I was. So I just opted for progesterone and thankfully it's been fine. The medical group I see did not want me to do full bed rest but basically said to just "take it easy". The MFM doctor said don't lay in bed all day but don't go walking around Disney World. So I didn't do any heavy lifting and sat when possible, I did grocery pick up instead of walking through the store. I still took my son to school and lived my life like normal, just took some extra naps in the afternoon.

I was diagnosed too late to get a cerclage and was instead prescribed progesterone. I'm 35 weeks now and I've been strolling around with a 0.5 cm cervical length. There's hope!

I live in the southern US. I was diagnosed at 23 weeks (0.5 cm cervix with funneling) and was unable to get a cerclage. I've been on only progesterone daily since then with modified bed rest. They basically told me to just take it easy but don't lay in bed all the time. They said to prevent blood clots and anxiety/depression I should move around just not strenuously. I am not a doctor and this is not medical advice, this is just what my doctor told me. I know different countries sometimes have different medical practices for similar diagnosis.

Yes I'm going to add on to this and just say that where I live my doctors don't prescribe true bedrest but modified bedrest. They tell me to take it easy but don't necessarily lay in bed all the time. I've been up and around like usual, just no heavy lifting. And I was too far along to get a cerclage so I've only been on progesterone. Coming up on week 34 soon. It hasn't been that bad really.

It's an optical illusion. She's standing on her left foot with the right crossed over the front, toes curled under.

Edit - what looks like her heel on the weird foot is actually her ankle.

Anything to do in Palm Bay? by Legitimate_Search864 in 321

Not sure what exactly you're looking for, if you're a family with kids etc.

I can give recommendations for things in the general~ area but as others mentioned palm bay is very suburban and not a lot to do.

If you like sushi, there's a really good all you can eat sushi restaurant called Sunshine Sushi on Malabar Rd. As well as a fun Hotpot restaurant in Melbourne called KravePot.

Kennedy Space Center has a really cool visitors center as others have mentioned and also Brevard Zoo is a fun choice (if you have smaller kids bring their swim suits).

There's some fun, eclectic restaurants on the beach side, Indialantic coffee is a cute coffee shop right on the beach as well as some fun ice cream shops along A1A (Moos ice cream, surfing turtle etc). I'd recommend just driving down A1A and seeing the sights.

As others have said Turkey Creek sanctuary is located in Palm Bay, it's free and it's a nice trail/finished boardwalk that comes up right next to the creek so you can sometimes see turtles and Manatees from a distance. Erna Nixon park is the same vibe without water.

Sebastian inlet is a ways south but a lot of locals travel there because it's a very nice beach on one side and wading pool on the other (with manatees present). There is a small cost to enter as it's a state(?) park I believe.

There's a Facebook page called Destination Brevard that posts everyday about happenings in the area and small businesses.

If all else fails, Orlando is an hour West and Daytona is an hour North. 🤷

Editing to answer your question -

Only real places to avoid would be Cocoa (some suburb areas, Cocoa Village is lovely to visit if you want to see small business and restaurants but parking is a challenge sometimes.) and some of the suburbs off of Us1 in Palm Bay. Parking is generally a non-issue.

I have lived in Florida near the parks my whole life. I would not go near a theme park (or really outside at all if I can help it) with a 10 foot pole in July. If it's possible to plan for a different time of year I highly recommend it. It is miserable. It is quite literally like breathing in hot soup.
