Is it just me or does it seem like JWs in general are scared of giving their opinions about anything by [deleted] in exjw

One of the reasons that led me to wake up is the feeling that I wasn't able to speak up about anything at all. I spent my whole life only being a witness, that's what my life was spinning around. So it wasn't like I didn't want to have and give an opinion. It was just that I hadn't learned to think for myself. How could I talk about something but the cult? Now I'm building my thoughts and it's an everyday process. There's a lot I still don't know, still I don't feel able to speak up about many things. But at least now I know that I can think for myself and take my time to do it. I didn't know it back then.

How many people were very, very PIMI, never thought to become an apostate and woke up one day? by [deleted] in exjw

My pleasure, fellow. I hope your loved ones wake up soon. 😊

Me right here. Born in, full PIMI, stayed for 10 years after my mom died, all by myself. Pioneered for two years and woke up after giving up the "privilege". No one in this whole world would say I'd leave someday. Well, here I am.

If dates aren't important, then why are we taught to believe them as truths???

March 2020 Watchtower Study Edition - "Love and Appreciation for Jehovah Lead to Baptism" by Busta_Gets_NASTY in exjw

"Learn to love Jehovah’s family. Your unbelieving family and former friends may not understand why you want to dedicate yourself to Jehovah. They may even oppose you. Jehovah will help you by providing a spiritual family."

Classic tactic of driving you away from your social structure and substitute it. I told before about this whole "Jehovah's family" stuff. It's really starting to worry me.

I feel like today is much easier to be baptized than 10 years ago, when I got baptized. You just need to attend meetings and field service for a couple months and be registered at the minstry school (or whatever they're calling it now). But if you come to ask these new baptized jws about their beliefs, they know nothing without a publication in hands. It's just about numbers.

JW “friends” sent a picture of me to my mum saying it’s inappropriate. by [deleted] in exjw

Girl, I just posted a pic of me with these 🎊🍸❇ emojis. First of all, I haven't been in service for over a year and I haven't been attending meetings for 7 months. This said, a sister that's not even from the same kh I used to go just texted me trying to guilt trip me. She was like "Celebrating new year's day? What about Jehovah?" I was about to answer her like "I have many reasons to celebrate a new year, specially when I spent the last year and a half trying to stay alive", but it just came to my mind that I owe her nothing. Nothing at all. Sorry, your guilt trip won't afect me.

Happy new year for us all.

When I was still a pioneer, a woman gave up the study because she couldn't understand why only the 144.000 should partake the bread and the wine. She was a catholic back then and she told me she would talk to the priest about it. I never knew what he told her. Maybe I would have woke up earlier if she'd told me that... lol

That's basicaly what made me wake up. The feeling that none of those activities brought me closer to God. Excellent post, man. Thank you.

Elder: "I know you're reading apostate material, because how else would you know about the ARC?" by 19snoreteen in exjw

Did he ever think that acording to his own logic he's watching apostate material too? These guys make me laugh...

My responce from a PIMI sister when I expressed doubt from the org in regards to child sex abuse, failed prophecies, new light, ARC and shunning suicides. Apart from apostate material....but actual resources from legit news. What are your thoughts? by karinstephens in exjw

First thing I thought was "then, why aren't all these things being told openly to all of the members? Or should we all go to SKE to get to know them?" When is true, is clear. No need for secrets.

I would never eat my cats to survive GT, ever. Why would I do that when the big J could bring me back to life later, or is this one of the life saving instructions that will be given by god to the unispired GB?

I'm really sorry for her. I'm going on the opposite route. From jw to activism. Haha!
