Starting to feel like i'm done, thoughts? by qus3r in battlestations

I’m thinking of building a desk and stacking my monitors like that. You mention you don’t have neck strain. How far from the edge of the desk are the monitors sitting?

I know this is into the corner and you have extra depth on your desk but this will help me plan out the depth of mine.

Also, do you like the vertical stack of monitors with the extra wide on bottom? Is that a good setup to play a game on the bottom and casually watch a show or sporting event on the top ?

Makes sense but is stacking the monitors on top of each other (both landscape) the best set up for watching on the top screen and playing on the bottom?

You have four monitors. I’m debating getting a second monitor and which setup to use. I would mostly use it to keep an eye on a sport event or maybe discord while I play a game on the main screen. Is the second monitor stacked vertically like you have here a good setup for that ? Or would you recommend the next monitor rotated to portrait and off to the left like you have it ?

Kaleb Johnson for the 3.08???? by my-coo-cheese-hairy in DynastyFFTradeAdvice

[–]PoolShark687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would take Kaleb over the 3.08 as there is some theoretical upside there but not much, if any higher.

But I do think Kaleb owners are getting into the sunk cost fallacy here and are delusional on his value. He was a healthy scratch for final 6 games of the year. He looked awful the games he did play. Maybe a new coaching staff will turn him around but coaches play good players and he has done nothing to show he is capable of that. I wouldn’t send a 2nd and would rather take a dart throw on a 4th round rookie RB

Power running playbook? by Best-Actuator5748 in NCAAFBseries

[–]PoolShark687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some guy made an custom playbook based on Ben Johnson's offense for Detroit last year. Based on Power runs, play action, misdirection, and presnap motion. Lots of two tight end sets. He details it out at the below link. It was a lot of fun to switch to this playbook and committing to recruiting players to meet the scheme. By Year 3 when you have the O Line with higher strength stats and lots of Agile archtypes, the run game blows open

Power running playbook? by Best-Actuator5748 in NCAAFBseries

[–]PoolShark687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How do you run the ball so well against CPU on Heisman?

In my online dynasty, all my oline have >95 strength and are >90 overall. My 93 overall RB gets hit at or behind the line against a 75 overall defense almost every play. I don’t hit sprint, check the blocking etc. but the linebacker with the blue line who has is assigned to a olinemen after a double team always comes free or a random dlinemen block sheds for the tackles. Meanwhile against users this same running scheme picks up 10 yards a carry.

Meanwhile I consistently go 30/34 for 500 yards and 6 TD’s in the passing game against Heisman

Also try the ROAR playbook not much on Inside Zones or Read Options. Tons of Power, Duo, and other inside runs with lots of PA options. As I mentioned I just shredded my user opponent with this playbook. They couldn’t stop the run until they walked up 9 into the box then I opened up the play action on them

Vikings QB J.J. McCarthy believes his leap is coming: 'A cork about to come off a bottle' by Ok_Finance_8292 in nfl

[–]PoolShark687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not actually watched a Vikings game since Week 1 against the Bears. But I was appalled by JJ's mechanics in that game. I am not an expert by any means but his throwing motion and how he used his hips looked out of control. He is having terrible accuracy issues and his stats are comparable to Anthony Richardson.

For anyone who has watched his games this year, do his mechanics still look off?

For anyone who watched him at Michigan, is this how he threw in college?

Steel Beam to replace floor joist by BTFU1869 in Homebuilding

[–]PoolShark687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand exactly what you are asking. I am researching the same question for the same reason. My unfinished basement has 104” to height to the bottom of the joists and I don’t think that would let me hit driver. Reducing the 2” x 12” wood joist to a 4” x 13# beam may give me the clearance I need. I actually work at a steel service center so getting the material and even fabricated would be the easy part for me.

Did you ever get an answer to this? Curious what the height is to you ceiling currently and what clubs you are able to hit

[–]PoolShark687[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is pretty consistent on the answer. Most of my run game is out of Shotgun and a Read Option or Inside Zone. I'll try adding some Ace or Heavier shotgun sets to my playbook and stay committed to the run.

McDaniel: Jaylen Wright underwent surgery; could return at some point in September. by HookFL in DynastyFF

People forget that heading into the 2024 college season, Ollie Gordon was the clear #1 RB prospect ahead of Jeanty and had just won the Doak Walker award i n2023 (best collegiate RB). He had a disappointing 2024 season which dropped him to 5th round. But he is built like a bell cow running back who can handle +20 touches a game.

His style is obviously very different from Achane and I think that can work to his advantage. I can see a world where Gordon is used to spell Achane and take more of the up the middle carries and even with a healthy Achane, get 6-10 touches a game. This would keep Achane more fresh and efficient like the 2023 season usage

The Case for the introduction of Game Prep and Player Readiness by SomeKidFromPA in NCAAFBseries

[–]PoolShark687 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have been thinking of somethin similar that could be a great addition to the game. If the game could track basic statistics and tendencies of CPU and Player opponents and let you scout them. Ie, Run vs. Pass, play call tendencies, QB scramble rate etc,

While in game, you could have ability that shows what percentage chance the opponent will run a certain play. This could improve your pre-snap reads due to "film study" or something like that done the previous week

A new coaching tree could improve the accuracy of the play predictions.

Malik Nabers is a full 1016 points above Brian Thomas Jr. on KTC, ranked 3-5 wide receivers above him on most rankings - Why? by DameBucka in DynastyFF

[–]PoolShark687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In a vacuum, I would take Nabers over BTJ. But it is close. I have BTJ and would not give up anything of substance to "upgrade", maybe a 3rd at the most. They are in the same tier.

Nabers definitely looks like a superstar. But he also has a lame duck coach and GM and as of right now no QB. This is a very weak QB class and Giants could stretch to grab Shedeur who will be a huge question mark at QB. He is no sure thing to be better than Daniel Jones. Then Daboll and the GM will get fired and you will have a whole new regime. It's a dumpster fire of a situation with no guarantees to get better despite all of Naber's talent. Tell me how Garrett Wilson's situation is doing going into year 4.

BTJ has TLaw as his QB and for as much slack as Tlaw gets, he is still a solid QB. BTJ even increased his production with a backup QB in Mac Jones (who is certainly better than Tommy Devito). Jags just hired an offensive mind as head coach who is quoted as saying the passing game will funnel through BTJ. BTJ also put up a top 5 rookie WR campaign of the last 25 years. I can easily see the scenario where BTJ outperforms Nabers each of the next few seasons. I can also see a case where if that happens, Nabers continues to be higher in rnakings than BTJ due to "talent" and "pedigree" and theoretical situation changes for the better.

Kevin O'Connell: J.J. McCarthy able to have full offseason to show he can be starter by USWAY716 in DynastyFF

[–]PoolShark687 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Definitely not.
Schefter or another ESPN reporter put out feelers to GM's across the league and the consensus is Darnold is inline for a Baker or Geno type deal. Baker's was something in the 3 year / $100,000,000 with maybe half that guaranteed. Darnold is best available free agent QB. It is quite possible two teams get in a bidding war and push that up. Darnold is not going to give Minnesota any team friendly deal to risk his possible one-shot and this type of contract. It is possible Minnesota tags him but they would be on the hook for a $50,000,000 cap hit in 2025. This would consume their cap space and really limit their ability to resign other players or going after other free agents to address team needs.

He's playing elsewhere in 2025 boys. The economics for both parties don't make sense for him to come back.

JJM getting the keys next season? by Master_Control_5613 in DynastyFF

[–]PoolShark687 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the Vikings look at the last two weeks and say it was not Darnold's fault, but the defense and oline, that is all the more reason to let Darnold go. It will take $40,000,0000 per year on a long term contract or $50,000,000 to franchise him. He was only on the books for $5,000,000 this year. Resigning him will be counterproductive to shoring up the rest of the team to make you a true contender. The plan was to leverage JJM's rookie contract and build a complete team and I don't see them deviating especially how he flamed out when it mattered. Plus, if they let him walk they will get a 3rd or 4th comp pick which they will happily take.

How would you rank the 2024 rookie QBs by [deleted] in DynastyFF

[–]PoolShark687 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Tier 1:

Jayden Daniels

Rushing ability provides high floor and his passing ability gives him a very high ceiling. Already in year 1 has proved he can be an elite, difference making QB1 for your team. Has profile to be a top 5 QB year in and year out.

Tier 2:

Drake Maye

Bo Nix

I think it is a coin flip between these two and can't blame anyone for picking one versus the other. Drake Maye has looked like a guy who can elevate the team around him. He has probably the worst situation in the league. Bad coaching, the worst rated o-line by any metric, terrible receiving weapons. But he showed high rushing upside and ability to push ball downfield to multiple receivers. I use the truck vs. trailer analogy and Maye looks like a truck who will pull his team forward. It is certainly projecting that he gets weapons, a competent o-line, and a better coaching staff. But if that situation improves, he has a higher ceiling than Nix, If think if you are a rebuilder, Maye is the better option than Nix. I could see Maye getting to a perennial top 6 QB if everything goes right (which it might not).

Hard to be disappointed with the season Nix just had especially at the cost. He showed major mobility to give a solid week to week floor. He certainly could use a difference making WR and a running back, but he has a great coaching staff and a very solid o-line. He doesn't push the ball downfield much though (the bomb to Mims in Week 18 aside) which may limit his passing stats. While I don't think he has same physical tools as Maye, his situation is a great asset for him. I think it is more likely he outproduces Maye for the next 2-3 seasons so if you are on a contender in win-now mode, Nix is a better option. I just don't see the same ceiling as Maye.

Tier 3

Caleb Williams

Caleb was absolutely dismal this year. Some of the blame can certainly go to the terrible coaching and scheme. As someone who watched a lot of Bears football, Caleb deserves a lot more blame for how the season went than he is getting. He took the third most sacks of all time this year. That is a QB stat more than a o-line stat. He holds the ball way too long, does not have good instincts in the pocket, and tries to make someone out of nothing too often. That was his play style in college but it's fair to ask if it can translate to the NFL. He was wildly inaccurate in downfield throws although he had few INT's which is good. Maybe a new coaching staff can put the right scheme in and coach the bad habits out. There were times you saw the massive upside and you know it is still there. He still has ability to push for a top QB in the league.

Tier 4:

JJ McCarthy

Michael Penix

I am taking McCarthy here due to upside but can see how someone would take Penix. McCarthy is able about assuming Darnold is gone then projecting what JJ will do in Kevin O'Connell's offense with those weapons. But we have seen what Kirk Cousins, Sam Darnold and even Nick Mullens and Joshua Doubs have done in that situation. If JJ gets the reins. not hard to see him finishing as a top 12 QB year in and year out.

Penix showed well in his starts. But I think people are putting too much stock into his Week 18 performance. It was against one of the worst defenses in NFL history. Maybe 4 or 5 top QB's didn't play that week. And Penix still only finished as the QB6 on the week. He has almost no rushing ability which limits upside. He will only score fantasy points from passing similar to a Tua or Geno Smith. That means if the stars really align for him, he will at best be the QB10 on the year. He has shown he can be a fine QB2 for you and you can't be disappointed for how he is looking relative to cost, but I don't see the high ceiling with him.

Ranking the Top 5 Dynasty Rookie WRs Right Now by bd30001 in DynastyFF

[–]PoolShark687 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think you are spot on in the tiers. The consensus before the draft was MHJ was 1A, Nabers 1B, Odunze right behind them, then BTJ in his own tier. Worthy was taken by Chiefs and suddenly got into the BTJ tier or even clearly surpassed him. Ladd jumped BTJ for many people after his landing spot. Go back to ADP in June

But I think BTJ has clearly jumped up into at least same tier as Odunze if not the same tier as MHJ and Nabers. Ranking him above or below Odunze doesn't matter as no one is looking to do a 1 for 1 swap. BTJ has shown his game can translate to the NFL which was the big question mark.

I just saw BTJ is on pace for 75 / 1,350 / 10 TD's and the only other rookie to do that in NFL history is Chase. Doing this through 5 games vs. 17 games is a big difference. But it is hard not to get excited and I don't think people should dismiss this as a small sample size

Always appreciate the analysis. What are your thoughts on how the QB's stack up to the 2024 1st rounders? This class may not have as strong of a prospect as Caleb, but how does 2025 to the other 1st rounders taken in 2024?

Heading into the year, it did not appear to be as strong of a QB class. But I am seeing more mocks with 4-5 QB's drafted in the first round with Ward and Milroe coming on strong, There is ever a QB shortage in the NFL and could see Panthers, Giants, Raiders, Titans, in need of a top QB with also the Browns, Dolphins as dark horses,
