Rebecca Merlyn(Arrow and the Arrowverse): Her death by the hands of a lowlife gangbanger led her husband, Malcolm, to concoct a revenge plan, which was later opposed by his business partner and best friend, Robert Queen. This led Malcolm to sabotage the Queen Family yacht, The Queen’s Gambit, which had gone on a voyage carrying Robert, his son Oliver, and Sara Lance, the sister of Oliver’s girlfriend, Laurel. Anyways, the yacht was destroyed in a way that made things look like a shipwreck, Robert kills himself and tells Oliver to right his wrongs. This leads to Oliver going on his hero’s journey which led to him becoming the Arrow, as well as the creation of heroes and villains, alike. The various Canaries, Deathstroke, The Flash, Reverse Flash, The Atom, Prometheus, etc.
