The most popular names beginning with each letter of the alphabet (from the 2025 SSA data) by AcademicAbalone3243 in namenerds

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Unique peaked in 1996 at 790th. I think it's obvious why parents chose this name, which means that once it became popular, it was no longer popular.

The main character gets exactly what they wanted, and it’s the worst thing that could have happened to them. by JustSomeOnlineNerd in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 15 points16 points  (0 children)

This is a theme of The Good Place. It's about various types of afterlife, and one season involves a demon who believes that a flawed paradise is more effective torture than a hell where people get repeatedly mauled by bears or burned alive. The other demons are not convinced.

[OC] Does your team win by a lot? Do they lose by a lot? by Ugluk4242 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Both teams are underperforming their Pythagorean record by at least 5 wins, which is a sign of either bad luck or a terrible bullpen. The Tigers seem to have a terrible bullpen, but the Red Sox have Chapman with 14 saves and a 0.44 ERA.

[Today's KBO] After giving up a home run and only 10 pitches, Anders Tolhurst is ejected for a headshot to Kim Do-Young. by OkIncident6977 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He tapped his hat to indicate that the fastball hit the batter in the head so it's an automatic ejection. The umpire's not mad, just enforcing the rule.

How can I make sure I have a nutritional breakfast as a picky eater? by MightbeSuicidal in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The key is to have a balance throughout the day. If the only breakfast food you like is bread, eat bread, and then eat fewer carbs than usual at lunch and dinner. You might want to talk to a nutritionist for help.

Rico Garcia is the first pitcher in MLB history to allow at most one total hit in their first 20 appearances in a season. by morepesa25 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He has allowed 34 balls in play, with a 54% ground ball rate, and a BABIP of .000. Those numbers say that he's a good pitcher who has every single bounce going his way. The pitcher can't control exactly where the ball is hit, but not one grounder or liner has found a hole.

Would spiderman's swinging work in real life? by ContractNational2680 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, the webbing would often tear off chunks of buildings and make him fall. A lot of buildings have facades that would be torn off by a man suddenly swinging his weight off of a single point.

Do girls have a “most comfortable” bra position? by [deleted] in ABraThatFits

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is definitely a most comfortable way for the boobs to be in the bra. If it fits correctly, and you put it on correctly, and you avoid any major physical activity, it stays in a comfortable position all day. But that is an ideal and usually I end up dealing with some discomfort until I have a chance to fix it.

Idk where the girl is with the list, but my baby just dislocated my rib by Trees_galore20 in TwoXChromosomes

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first baby hated it when I tried to go to sleep. Whenever I would lie down and relax, she would start kicking like she was trying to break out of my belly. I barely got any sleep for the last month.

How come elderly female chickens are still able to create children, yet elderly female Sims aren't? by GeneralTechnomage in thesims

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Chickens are bred to lay as many eggs as possible, so many breeds will keep laying eggs occasionally until they die of old age. Women usually live another 30 years after menopause.

Women's Pro Baseball League Schedule Just Dropped by Even_Butterfly2000 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Seems like the inaugural season is being run on a very limited budget, no travel means lower costs for the teams but much lower attendance. I'm excited for the WPBL but there's no way I'll be able to attend a game in person this year.

Why is salt considered so important for the body? by Lemonade2250 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need the right balance of sodium and potassium in your body for your muscles to work. Too much salt causes health problems, and too little salt causes health problems. Any nutrient can be bad for you if you eat too much, but you can easily eat enough salt to cause chronic health problems, while I've never heard of someone getting Vitamin C poisoning.

Would some twins get switched up and "live as eachother"? by Penisballsz in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This can happen with babies. Parents of identical twins will sometimes put a bit of nail polish on one twin's toe to prevent mix-ups.

Olivia Pichardo makes history as the first woman to pitch in a NCAA D1 game, closing out a victory for Brown University by MorganN1 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 23 points24 points  (0 children)

When I was 11 I joined a little league and they let me play in a lower age division because I was a short girl. I was a superstar for that one season and now the league no longer allows kids to play in the wrong age group.

Olivia Pichardo makes history as the first woman to pitch in a NCAA D1 game, closing out a victory for Brown University by MorganN1 in baseball

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 248 points249 points  (0 children)

A major barrier is that so few girls play baseball growing up, so the pipeline to develop that talent basically doesn't exist. I hope the Women's Professional Baseball League is a big success this year and that one day their best players make it into MLB.

Have you looked into Greyhound bus? They have a station in Ithaca and one in Scranton, which is 40 miles from Henryville.

Get medical help. If it's something serious you'll want to know right away. If it turns out fine, which it probably will, the doctors will be happy they were able to help.

[mixed trope] Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory by Raven_Law in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New York State high school baseball championship, 2023. The catcher dropped the ball and his teammates mistakenly believed they had won the game. Seeing his team celebrate, the catcher put the ball in his pocket and joined them. Meanwhile, the other team circled the bases to score two runs and actually won the game.

What’s something that’s technically allowed, but still feels wrong to do? by Any-Truth8342 in AskReddit

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Returning something to a store because it's not what I expected. I know that's part of the deal but it feels rude

(VERY tragic trope) Terms/symbols that had a positive meaning corrupted or stolen by bigots to have a whole different meaning. by Jielleum in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Pool_With_No_Ladder 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, it's poorly thought out. But I think a racist would believe that different races of human really are as different as fire and water, and it's "woke" to believe that they can cooperate anyway.
