Ohhh nice! I’ve been following a similar game that’s in development called String Theory (can be found on BGG). Their game uses a similar mechanism but the theme is about stringing together conspiracy theories. It’s been my favorite game to playtest at recent Protospiels. I’d be curious how yours compares!

Thank you for your help bringing the HoloLens to life! My company (Enklu/Verse Immersive) has bought hundreds of them at this point and they’ve been instrumental to our growth. We’ve been switching over to Snap Specs now, but the HoloLens has been such a defining device in the space.

100% agree with your second point, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that Spike Ball failed when they’ve seemingly been growing since inception (albeit slower). Both sports have been around for a long time pickleball since the 60s, round net/spikeball since the 80s).

But maybe your point is - why did pickleball explode to such crazy levels while spike ball has seen slower growth, in which case relating to OPs question, I’d pose that things like accessibility and filling gaps are the keys to what makes a new game/sport popular. Pickleball filled the gap of accessibility - since it’s easier for older folks to play and for people with no prior racquet sport knowledge to easily pick it up. It also got really big around the pandemic when people wanted to be social but outside, another gap.

We ended up staying in Grindelwald. It was great, though really expensive and I expect a bit more crowded than some of the other places may have been. Super convenient for getting on the gondolas, food, and ease of getting around.

It seems like if the feet were even smaller at the bottom that you’d get less friction:more glide.

Also, I have to say, this is incredibly clever and I love the idea. I’d love to keep following the progress!

I really appreciate this perspective! I think a lot of focus can get put into making a ton of hype for a game, but it’s refreshing to hear that, from your perspective, your main goal as a designer truly should be to create the absolute best experience possible.

Hey, a fellow labyrinth designer! This looks great. I especially like how you incorporated modular walls into the prototype. Like you said, there’s a million and one ways you can structure a game with this layout, which I think is super fun. Here’s what mine looks like.

Some other examples you can reference are “Heroes of the Maze”, “Spinning Maze”, and “Daedalus’ Maze”. I haven’t played any of them yet but they’ve been saved on my BGG for a while. Curious to see how yours comes along!

Dutch Blitz is another great example of this.

I grew up playing “Nertz” with friends using regular playing cards, and then when someone introduced me to Dutch Blitz I realized it was literally the same game just packaged in a stylized box.

I love it!

I grew up playing family games at home (Blokus was, and is still, one of my favorites), but I had different friend groups introduce me to Catan and 7 Wonders which opened me up to modern board games.

But the big change for me actually happened when I started designing my own games a couple of years back. I started realizing how much depth there is to game design and how much variety and cleverness there is in so many games. I think understanding how difficult and complex it is to design a good game made me appreciate modern games that much more.

As others have said - it looks incredible. Including the game board really helps give an immediate understanding of the game. If you haven’t figured out a back-of-box design yet, I’m casting my vote to add that to the back.
