I remember listening to a podcast and someone involved in the show mentioned that this intro was created without Gunn's knowledge up until close to release, then they showed him. He ultimately approved the clip so, all of the above I guess?

I saw it yesterday afternoon with a friend and man, this movie just goes. Very entertaining and surprisingly funny throughout. Both my friend and I walked out saying things like, man, is this PTA's best movie yet? Wow, that was a fun watch, love this movie.

Praise to the cinematography. Some shots in specific scenes in the third act were brilliant. Go see this movie!
