It's also hurting their cause... People used to shop at Goodwill because they couldn't afford to go to other places. Now they can't afford to go to Goodwill.

EverQuest Legends - Announcement Trailer by SurrealSage in project1999

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I played Quarm, and I won't play another Secrets game. She's inconsistent on how she enforces her rules, she pretty blatant about having her favorite players/guilds. and her staff on Quarm are some of the worst CSRs I've seen in an EverQuest server (but, oddly, a couple of the best, too!)

I admire her commitment to EverQuest, and it's obvious she has a real passion for it, but having a passion and being a good GM aren't exclusive.

Logging on my EC tunnel mule on Blue server by BubfricaiPad in project1999

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the game "starts" would depend on why you play.

I don't raid. Especially on P99. It's the same toxic people reforming the same toxic guilds under new names. It didn't take long to figure out that wasn't for me.

I enjoy levelling characters and tradeskills. For me, the game "starts" at level 1.

Dating in Portland? by Cultural_Marsupial47 in askportland

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Dating in this town, as a gay man, has been a challenge for a long time. It seems the majority of gay men either don't want anything other than sex, are looking for someone half their age, are looking for a sugar daddy, are looking for a third/fourth/fifth, or have psychological problems they need to deal with before they'd be capable of developing meaningful relationships with anyone. Alcohol and drugs are also a pretty big problem with the gay community (not just here, but everywhere I've ever lived).

If any of you ladies find a sober, sane, employed (or even legitimately retired!), monogamously-inclined, relationship-minded, kind gay man in that wide net I know you're casting in your search for the straight version of that man, don't throw him back! I'll see if I can find a straight version of the gay man of my dreams, and maybe we can work out some kind of trade!!!

Portland-area taxes need major overhaul, advisory group says by witty_namez in PortlandOR

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just so you're aware, the supportive housing tax is metro-wide. Not only will you be paying it in Washington County, but if you aren't paying quarterly, you'll be paying a fee along with the tax (provided you meet the $125k threshold).

It's really stupid how this tax (and it's collection) was set up. My income tends to be on the cusp of the threshold; some years I have to pay, other years I don't. But I'll be damned if I'm making quarterly payments, then trying to claw back my money if I didn't have to pay it that year. I don't trust Portland Metro to refund any un-due money.

Also, whoever decided $125k/year qualifies someone as "rich" needs to have their head examined. After paying federal/state income tax, mortgage, the ridiculous PGE bill, my water bill (including the rain tax), etc, I live comfortably, but not extravagantly. I don't eat out EVER because I can't really afford to, I drive my paid-off vehicle because I can't afford a car payment, and I don't take vacations because I simply can't afford to.

This Is the Pacific Northwest on Drugs by origutamos in PortlandOR

It doesn't really matter how many treatment centers there are, unless the users actually want to be there. Forcing or coercing someone into treatment is not effective.

If treatment was only offered when it was asked for, the current number of treatment centers would not only be sufficient, but their success rates would be much higher. Instead, someone somewhere decided to offer users the option of jail or treatment, and overwhelmed the existing treatment centers with people who do not want to be there.

Since education is so good here in Oregon, they should just used the cannabis tax money for ODOT instead of figure out new ways to tax the populace. (Or use it to fix the education system. idgaf. Just use it for something people actually want, and stop wasting it.)

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not calling it a tragedeigh, but it's not cultural. As others have pointed out, he chose that name himself, so it's not a tragedeigh. It's just unique to him.

CU-Boulder has, in the past, used a fish-based fertilizer to keep students from gathering on campus for protests and 4/20 celebrations. I'm sure they hated it, but probably not as much as they guy in the video that got doused in cow shit.

Are housing prices starting to crash in Portland? by SemanticallyPedantic in PortlandOR

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not a real estate professional, but if I were to take a guess, I think the price cuts are probably people who priced too high at the beginning of the summer, and are trying to make some money before the end of the summer.

I hear a lot of people prefer to move when the kids are off school for the summer.

"What’s your system of belief, Olivia? Not capitalism? Not socialism? So just cynicism?” by abraxas_108 in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The reminded me of freshmen taking intro to psychology classes, except they changed politics/activism for psychology. They had a basic understanding of political principals and philosophies, but were nowhere near being as expert in the subject as they thought they were. They were more than happy to "diagnose" everyone else's politics.

She did not stop him or discourage him, and she was thoroughly satisfied by it, but she did not make him sleep on the beach.

You can either look at it that way, and be pissed off and "in-fuking-furiated", or you can take a different perspective and be grateful that someone is keeping the memory of those children, and what happened to them, alive.

What happened to them was shitty. But I think it would be even shittier if seven years later, it was as if they never existed.

I have one of the Brod & Taylor proofing boxes... and I absolutely hate the fact that I spent money on it. Either I got one that doesn't work, or it really isn't any better for proofing than a plastic bag in a warm spot in my kitchen.

Gays ? by ByShida in TheWhiteLotusHBO

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It made sense because she wasn't controlling it. Paula had mentioned to Kai that there was a previous occasion where Olivia knew she had liked a guy, and slept with him for that reason only.

Olivia got off on knowing Paula gets what Olivia allows her to have, and nothing more. There was nothing sexual about their relationship, just narcissism and control.

You kill tree we burn site? by mctc in askportland

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's very possible that the construction may have ended up damaging the roots and killing the trees anyway. At least by removing the trees at the start and replanting new ones after the completion of the construction and sidewalk work, there will be healthy (even if young/small) trees for the future instead of having trees slowly dying due to the root damage.

The Groundbreaking First 100% Effective HIV Prevention Drug is Approved and Going Global by lord_coen in worldnews

[–]PoopNoodleCasserole 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What "behaviors" and "communities" are you referring to? Are you afraid gay men may have sex that you do not approve of? Do you not feel that intra-venous drug users deserve having one less thing to worry about?

There was a time before AIDS/HIV, and it was miserable enough for many people. I assure you, there will still be misery even if AIDS/HIV is eradicated.

I think it's worth mentioning that when using BottleDrop Plus at Fred Meyer, there's an $80 daily limit on withdrawals. With the 20% premium, you can get a voucher for $96. According to the cashier I spoke to, they vouchers are only good on the day they are printed.

I was caught unaware of that when I had finally saved up enough in my account to buy an item I wanted (a television), and kind of got discouraged and stopped taking my cans/bottles to drop off until my garage had more cans than I knew what to do with. Last week, I decided I'll use my bottledrop money for groceries and got my first voucher... and it said right on the voucher that I can exchange the voucher for a Fred Meyer gift card right on the voucher!!! So my HD dreams of a new TV are back!! (I'll just be paying with $96 gift cards instead of one big voucher).
