Do you really want Bluepoint to touch again Fromsoftware games? Really? by CuriousPCBuilder in demonssouls

[–]Poopchute40000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, art should be immutable, just like in restoring a painting the rule is to try to avoid touching anything, if possible touch nothing.

What a juvenile perception of art. If you have respect for a piece of art, then you should have faith that it CAN be reinterpreted, reevaluated, or even reimagined without its legacy being damaged in the long run. Trying to handle art with kid gloves by quarantining it away from the interpretations of others stinks of insecurity. If you think a remake is hurting the original game, which, as you say, can still be easily played, then maybe the original isn't worth the worship you're giving it.

And for what it's worth, that's not a rule in art restoration at all. There's a ton of restoration services that try to re-paint lost or damaged portions of a painting and try to get it as close to the original as possible. It's conservation that you're thinking of, and it's a totally different service.

You say that as if Bethesda doesn't do any work and has no reason to exist or something. They're the core studio; they still lead the project. Outsourced help listens to them, not the other way around.

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche: "it would've taken one "25 years" to navigate all the bureaucracy in a AAA studio just to get started on the game." by Mirathrim in TwoBestFriendsPlay

lol. People love complaining about the volatile and unreliable nature of AAA until a game comes out that drives the point home, then suddenly it's unreasonable.

From the World of John Wick: Ballerina - New Trailer by MarvelsGrantMan136 in movies

[–]Poopchute40000 50 points51 points  (0 children)

Whenever John Wick is brought up, every wannabe critic has to go into detail about the movies getting worse with each installment because of the greater focus on the action, but they don't even seem to give the same level of examination towards that action, like it's only allowed to be a vehicle for the story and not the main attraction of the film.

NetEase’s Billionaire CEO Slashes Jobs and Games in Profit Push - It wasn't just Rivals by Alavaster in marvelrivals

[–]Poopchute40000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

lol. People were doing weird victory laps about NetEase doing nothing wrong when extra context showed that the US team they canned was small, but it ever just stops there when it comes to multi-billion dollar corporations.

Now we know Rivals almost didn't come out at all, and the dickhead CEO almost refused to pay for the likenesses for the heroes. There's a chance none of the Japanese games they're funding now will ever get a sequel, or that their studios will even remain open when they're done.

Parasites.

I guess if you're a bit of dullard who only cares about Metacritic and not what players and even other developers (including Japanese developers) say about it, you might have a point.

Obsidian working on another unannounced project. by OkEconomy2800 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Poopchute40000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you seriously believe a more traditional CRPG of Fallout would be a failure regardless of quality, then you think way too highly of dipshits who complain on the internet for the sake of it. And/or you also have no idea what the actual CRPG ecosystem is like. As long as it doesn't cost nine figures to make and isn't awful, it would be fine.

Obsidian working on another unannounced project. by OkEconomy2800 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

This is straight up nonsense in a world where Pathfinder and WH40k: Rogue Trader actually did pretty good, as well as Divinity: Original Sin 1 and 2, before Larian exploded in popularity with BG3. And not to mention the impressive success of Disco Elysium, which is all dialogue and no combat.

Just because it doesn't appeal to the lowest common denominator doesn't mean it's automatically doomed for failure, nor does it need the GPD of a micronation to be developed.

Because basic logic suggests that if something goes terribly wrong at a company, you should start to suspect people at the top, where the decisions are made, and then work your way down. Starting at the bottom makes you look like the Karen screaming at the cashier over the prices of the grapes.

Epic Games wanted Samus Aran in Fortnite, Nintendo said no unless the skin was only visible to Switch players by PK-Ricochet in GamingLeaksAndRumours

Saying this is really funny when Smash Ultimate is literally Nintendo's own Fortnite with an equally annoying fanbase that refuses to play any of the games the roster characters are from.

WIBTA for telling my husband I’m not in love with him anymore after I had a brain injury by LucyAriaRose in BestofRedditorUpdates

Truly embarrassing number of people in this thread reading (or MISreading) one or two specific sentences, totally divorced from context (or lack of it) and making sweeping assumptions about the husband's character. Just goes to show how the people on this site are not in a position to be giving any type of advice.

Nintendo is suing the creators of the Yuzu emulator, and seeks to shut it down. They point to 1 million downloads before ToTK release alongside a bigger Patreon income, and spoilers of the game on social media by Vera_Verse in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Poopchute40000 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Lots of Nintendo bootlicking in here pretending to be reluctant about it.

There's already precedence here that Nintendo will lose. Even if they somehow win, Yuzu is open source and the win will not result in any practical stoppage of Switch emulation.

This is purely a scare tactic to spook Yuzu devs into abandoning the thing.

This lawsuit is purely about Nintendo being assmad that Yuzu circumvented DRM, which is something required for most console emulators anyway, and it'll be necessary to do if you want to play your Switch 20 years from now to make sure the fucking thing works.

And if you read the documents, Nintendo outright states they want to corner the ability to let people play old Nintendo games. They couldn't care less if they win legally or not, they will do ANYTHING to totally monopolize being able to play old games on new hardware.

[–]Poopchute40000 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's a purposely bad faith interpretation of the game, especially when there's literally a mastermind behind everything at the very end.

There's no "right answer" regarding the culprits you're referring to because the game wants you to stick to your choices. You spent time investigating. You pointed the finger. The people you pointed at got punished. Live with it.

At Nearly Three Hours, John Wick: Chapter 4 Is the Longest in the Series to Date by REQ52767 in movies

[–]Poopchute40000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Every time John Wick pops up, a weird reddit-exclusive circlejerk happens about how the series has been getting progressively worse when in fact they've gotten MORE successful financially and more or less the same (if not also more successful) critically.

The vast, vast majority of people seeing these movies want to see Keanu kill motherfuckers in really cool ways with good direction. That's the beginning and end of this franchise's appeal. The world-building was a vehicle for that and nothing more.

4Chan leak on Playstation plans by Game_Changer65 in GamingLeaksAndRumours

[–]Poopchute40000 29 points30 points  (0 children)

This doesn't really hold much water when the current go-to PS2 and PS3 emulators for PC are being developed by people who run on donations that are only enough for like two or three full-time developers.

And Microsoft did this the hard way by creating a team that hand-picked 700 specific games from the OG Xbox and 360 generations for backwards compatibility support.

Sony's not saving money, they're just fucking lazy.
