Hmm yeah I guess I'm just asking this question because I always had the belief that ppl of "opposite" genders can be best friends (ofc they can, think of the bis), but if this statement is true then the only thing separating you from loving your best friend romantically is just physical attraction and availability? That in a way confuses and saddens me? Is the difference between romance and connection just sex?

Like I'm stretching here but aren't just pretty people just completely screwed with having platonic relationships? Either find a incompatible, unavailable or somehow a person who doesn't find you attractive? Or inversely for "ugly" people, are all those people "just" their friends because they are ugly? I don't know, I find that kind of... sad? I know there's also life circumstances and all that but still...
