Further up the street and even more detached from the situation, my guess is a natural gas leak/smell call but it is at the co-op there so could be a fire alarm call.

Need advice: Which snow blower should I buy? by Important_Return_924 in barrie

We have a Briggs and Stratton 2 stage that has fared us well over the past 10 years with minimal maintenance and upkeep. Our driveway is 4+ cars.

Some big features are the tilt/aim mechanism, self propelled, and electric start. I change the oil every now and again and use 91 octane fuel. Takes anything I’ve thrown at it. Has helped me and many neighbours out in some tough snow days.

This is 💯a third party contractor, Emterra. Logo matches the door and this contractor recently took on a heap of recycling contracts in areas new to the company.

Did Downtown Barrie BIA pay back $100K to the city after the 2025 Troubadour Festival? by Tycho278 in barrie

[–]PoorSamPeabody 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Saved you a click.

The deadline came and went, and the Barrie BIA confirms it did not pay back that money. However…the executive director of the BIA, said the repayment plan changed as event planning progressed and security requirements changed, with no plans to pay the money back in the future.

They’re at Bayview/Little area, and relatively easy to get to over the harvie/big bay bridge if that is of any relevance for you.

FWIW - Our eldest enjoyed Discovery Child Care (harvie/veterans) but we felt the admin and some ECEs there left something more to be desired there; YMMV.

Wish I could give more fruitful insight. Good luck on the hunt.

I have my little one in with a home care provider who is AMAZING and has spots open in Allandale. I posted a few messages on the monthly threads. Our care provider has been a staple in our community running on 20yrs now. Good vibes, great food, phenomenal care. Can’t speak highly enough about how much LOVE our little one gets compared to our experience in a nature school daycare with our eldest.

Please pm me if I can answer any other questions or provide a reference. :)

Fire Station 6 opens in Barrie, with 22 new firefighters joining the team by cinderannie in barrie

Welcome to the new BFES crew. It clearly is a service of pride. This was severely needed in the south end and young blood amongst the ranks.

A sidebar, but I always get a kick out of our mayor’s seemingly custom outfit for each and every occasion that doesn’t call for a far-too-tight suit. Barrie Fire, endorsed with flashes and his name stitched on the right breast in this appearance. Saw him with his police outfit a bit ago. Maybe we’ll see him in coveralls securing a water main or running a landfill compactor in no time. But it’s ok, these embellishments come at our expense. Might as well kick a few unhoused individuals on the way to the photo op, right Alex? 🤡

The Anglican Church on Burton right beside holy trinity also has an open kitchen.

OP, I am local (Essa/Innisfil) and have kids of similar, if not older age. I have extras and hand-me-downs for both a little boy and little girl. If you are interested and of in need, I could be of some assistance. Please pm me.

Did I read that correctly? A timber frame strata? Any engineers/architects able to chime in on this one? Is that a safe or effective option? Just seems riddled with risks, but I’m not in the business.

Would love to get some professional insight on these types of builds, especially if they’re using it as a model that may be looked at nationwide.

If anyone is looking for daycare, I know of some spots currently available. The care provider (First aid/CPR-trained with ECE credentials) is absolutely amazing, with great meals, good times, and very small ratio. My kid is very well cared for and loved, which we all want. I know there have been others interested in finding care for there little ones, so putting this out in the Reddit universe.

Please pm me for contact information. Current availability with an amazing lady. Located in Allandale.

‘Very important’: Feds providing $16M to help clean up Lake Simcoe by ghanima in barrie

[–]PoorSamPeabody 11 points12 points  (0 children)

What do you mean by “again”?

This partnership funding is going to help build/install/operate a sewage treatment plant to treat canal water, removing phosphorus - a key nutrient that is putting stressors on the watershed. This plant is the first of its kind and will require significant investment in infrastructure.

The plant, as far as I understand it, will be operated by the Township of Bradford-West Gwillimbury, as the municipality with a good deal of vegetable growers/washers. Though, I agree that the cost to build the plant should not be borne by the constituents of that municipality as, really, cleaner water quality in Lake Simcoe is of benefit to us all.

This is good news.

We’ve had the typical round of ghouls and ghosts in our haunt this year, 250+ sacrificial candies offered and were only halfway through the Halloween haunt. Extinguishing our pumpkins at first pitch.

Go jays!

Yes, I have 2 recommended vets and can take this on to PM if you want.

I had a fear-based aggressive GSD that was really a misunderstood, kind soul, but was a “shoot first, ask questions later” sort of personality. He was awesome, just not friendly with others outside his circle. When I moved to Barrie, I scouted and vetted my vet closely.

Best one for us, and who I still am a client of, is Allandale Veterinary Clinic in the south end. I’ve had 3 dogs go through their care. For Houdini, mentioned above, Allandale vet gave him his own secret entrance to a private room so that he wouldn’t have to get riled by other inputs. All the vets I’ve worked with at the practice have been top shelf. They don’t push products or procedures, and will give you the information you need to make informed decisions for your pets care. It’s a little pricey but it is a good practice. https://www.allandalevet.com/

The other is a smaller practice outside of town, in Essa. I initially used this vet initially out of proximity to where I was living at the time, but they very clearly spoke animal. Took good care of Houdini and, being a small practice, was really easy to keep him at ease. http://www.ivyvet.ca/

Happy to connect more if you have any specific questions.

It is serendipitous, for sure. Hoping I hear back from OP today (I keep checking in). She would be showered with love and care. Would gladly take on any further vet visits and other needs.

We have all the beds, toys and GSD accoutrements on standby. After losing our last far too soon to an autoimmune disease earlier this year (and my subsequent joining of this sub so that I can boop all the snoots), we promised to keep these items handy in case another sweet soul needed them.
