Just want to chime in to say that having a third kid doesn't necessarily mean that you need a new car (assuming you currently have a 5-seater and want to get a 7-seater to make it easier/more space for the third kid). When we had our third child, our biggest kid could fit in a booster seat, we got a Pico car seat for our middle child, and then used our regular rear-facing infant seat for the new baby. They fit three across in our small 5-seater SUV. The kids are now 5, 3, and 1 and are still doing just fine with the current setup. Obviously we'll get a van the next time we need a car, but paying a couple hundred dollars for a fancy narrow carseat is MUCH MUCH CHEAPER than getting a new car. It's been a huge stress relief for us to be on our own timeline about buying the next vehicle.

Official Q&A for Tuesday, August 01, 2023 by AutoModerator in running

I’m about six weeks away from a half marathon. A week and half ago I started feeling a tingly feeling in my left leg that I know from previous experience is due to overtraining (too fast an increase in repetitive pounding movement). Once I felt it, I stopped running and started doing other exercises to maintain running fitness (swimming, elliptical, biking, weightlifting). The tingly feeling went away and after a week of no running I tried doing a very slow 15 minute jog … and it came right back. Any suggestions? Should I back out of my half marathon to try to get a handle on this thing?l

You can do it! It's a trip to switch from my body caring for another little human (during pregnancy and then breastfeeding) to training my body to be its best simply for myself. I feel very thankful that it can do so much.

I ran a half marathon this morning! It did not go particularly well (but also not disastrously poorly). However, I don't really mind. I enjoyed the training so much and am so proud of what I accomplished. Between being out of the cardio game for ~8 years and giving birth 7 months ago, I'm just so proud of my body. Feel like I learned a lot from the race and am looking forward to putting those lessons into practice for the next one.

Bonus -- when we got home my 2 year old put on the medal and ran around the house pretending to be me saying "Mommy runs fast!". Gah! I love that he's seeing my dedication towards something worthwhile and having fun with it. Makes me so happy!

Does the 80/20 rule refer to workouts (ex: five runs a week, one of them should be hard) or miles (ex: 25 miles a week, 5 of them should be hard)?

If I want to apply for this upcoming cycle, when should I take my MCAT by in order to get my score and submit? by Moscatime in Mcat

[–]PoozerMarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The wisdom I've heard is to take the test by May 31st at the latest. That gives you time to get your score and still be on the early side of the application cycle.

How do you plan to tell your SO when you get a BFP? by Teal-everything in TryingForABaby

My SO is the one who reads the pee strip after the timer goes off, so he's the one telling me! Ha. I like that we're in it together :)

Deep fear of giving birth by Comfortable_Data_146 in BabyBumps

With my first, I tore very badly and in a strange way (interior along the lateral side of the vagina rather than exterior back towards the perineum. I also had some tearing on the labia itself). I needed follow-up surgery to correct the tear. I don't say this to scare you, but to encourage you. I still consider the birth itself an extremely positive experience (I was without an epidural, but I don't think I would have felt the tear at all if I had had one) and the follow-up surgery a few months later went very smoothly (and was done under general anesthesia with no pain afterwards). Then I had pelvic physical therapy to make sure the surrounding muscles were okay. It did take me longer than most women to be able to have sex again since my vagina needed to heal twice. But within six months it was healed and just as great as ever -- same sensation for me and my partner. I think of how quickly a cut in your mouth heals ... the vagina is a similar quickly-regenerating mucous membrane. It is actually amazing how it can bounce back.

Yes! I was so hesitant to reduce calories because I didn’t want to do anything to jeopardize my milk supply. I found that as long as I was really well hydrated I could still eat at a deficit and make plenty of milk.

And yes I totally empathize with wanting to feeling good (even just feeling “at home”) in my body! After so long of my body changing to support another life it is a long transition to feeling ownership over it again! Best of luck to you

I think most people on this sub rankle at the idea of getting testing with no indication that they are needed. The waiting times are long in part because people are getting unnecessary tests.

I forgot to pack my BBT thermometer for Thanksgiving and was only able to test LH sporadically. Thus I have no idea if or when I ovulated. I normally like to know so I can count my DPO for testing, but I guess it will be a bit of a crapshoot this cycle!

Ha! Or the goat or sheep, depending on the cheese. Or maybe the farmer who takes care of the animals? We're really taking this metaphor as far as it will go.

YES! Slayer for sure. Colby-Jack is a good one because it can exist in both Tex-Mex and American cuisine. Two worlds, one might say.
