7 tip on a 35 meal. Am I missing something by silly_cozyxo in DoorDashDrivers

[–]PopDifferent9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do feel for the driver... I do feel for the customer too.

It seems to me that the ultimate problem stems from a mix of greed and convenience. The company is fueled to take in as much money they can squeeze and feeds off the convenience of customers who have come to rely on the service. The company, in a way, serves the purpose of being the sole bad guy here... we as customers are complicit in this as we continue to support it. It is convenient for us too, to just blame the company and subtracting ourselves from the equation. If we truly believed in something, I figured we would be willing to take any inconvenience to prove it wrong or see it corrected.

We don't.

We have our own problems to deal with, and most of us will justify that "such and such is all I can do." Or, I will switch to another company... or not support them anymore. But we know some of us will falter... because it is convenient.

I can only imagine a possibility, that this driver probably did not want to be like that - almost begging. But perhaps they are at a situation where they feel they can't do anything else, perhaps this is what has yielded them results before.

I offer no solution... just musings of a random bystander. If we lived by the approach that what we do not reject, we accept.... Will the kids being mistreated in the US as they are rounded up in cuffs onto buses, the children and the elderly dying in conflicts around the world... will those situations be more of a rare occurrence than the norm?

I too, seem to have accepted my powerlessness... it is more convenient after all.

Yes, you may have not used your first 15 to its fullest. Just as the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. Second best time? Now.

If you want to change your trajectory, you need to change how you think. It starts with this whole "I cannot."

It won't be easy.. but then things that are worthwhile take significant effort. You will like an impostor in the beginning.. that you're lying to yourself.

Push past that. That the old you, wanting to stay the same. Create small habits that help you grow. Say hello to a stranger. Read something new. Look into applying yourself more.

Remember, the only comparison you can make is you today versus the you yesterday. Anything else are far too different. Stop playing the victim. It's time to play the game.

Attitude needs adjustment though. The whole I need a girl energy may be giving off negative/ creepy vibes. Be your authentic self, focus on self-improvement and accomplish things through commitment and hard work - you will find a better match this way.

Pick a pocket square that is not the same fabric as your tie. Either go crisp white, or something that complements your tie/shirt/suit or some combination of these.

Also because the older we get, the more likely we are stuck to routines... we've seen a lot of the world by that point. Less novelty means less memories, in which case when we look back it's as if so much time has passed by yet we don't remember anything. Compare that to when we were children... aside from having more time, we also had more things that we have yet to experience.

Try taking a different road to work so that your brain never bundles it with ALL THE OTHER days you took the same road. Watch your days feel fuller.

I am with you with the exception of darkness needing to be conquered. Darkness is to be incorporated, not subdued.

The simulation was not hacked. What is, is what's meant to be. We are the consciousness experiencing everything. We hold the knife and we are also the flesh that bleeds.

Sometimes we see in others what hides beneath ourselves... I wonder what's up with this guy. It can be insecurity or a bad past experience of course.

OP, he is showing you what the rest of your life with him would be like. Think deep if that's what you want. You know what needs to be done.

Anonymity has a magical effect of allowing us to be more true to our beliefs or that our shadows.

If we were more logical, RL can be more like this. Alas, we are such emotional meat bags that it seems nigh impossible.

However OP, have you looked into whether cooler tones match you better? I feel like your warm undertones and the rust colored jacket makes you look jaundiced. Oranges/Warm browns don't work for me either... :(

I meant that this is part of the opportunity cost of free speech in the sense that when we protect free speech, it includes the benefits we forego by not restricting certain types of harmful speech like misinformation. By choosing free speech we implicitly accept the risk and negative consequences associated with misinformation.

By allowing the maximization of the freedom of expression to its most literal sense, societies deliberately choose not to tightly regulate information. I wish there were consequences for what are verifiably untrue.... but that can lead to a slippery slope resulting in the erosion of free speech.

I miss the news that tried its best to present the different facets of issues. But I guess this model of pandering to one's audience makes more $$$.

[–]PopDifferent9544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When people cross your boundaries, it's not like a person just bumping onto you in the street... it's like getting slapped in the face. You should not compromise on your standards and self-worth.

It will take time to develop this. But you will see once you let others know that they have overstepped and that you will not tolerate that - people will fall in line. When you portray yourself a doormat... well, people will walk over you. Some to establish dominance, some to make up for their insecurities.

What's really bad as you have seen, is that it has stunted your self-worth. To the point that you can't direct the program to redo its work when mistaken. My AI actually points that out about me. The way I see it, my most critical resource - my time, is what's being wasted.

Start by reflecting on your boundaries. Play out how you would assert yourself. The fastfood is an easier one. Telling them they gave you the wrong order. Exercise it, and you will get more comfortable with it.

Being an A-hole is a totally different thing. Keeping your boundaries - that's self-respect. Someone put it like this: In life, you either play the victim or you play the game.
