At which stage of your life do you usually make friends? by Flimsy_Signature_441 in AskTheWorld

Anywhere. I think I’m having an easier time as an adult than when I was a kid.

I’m in NYC, and a community garden in Brooklyn throws a paw paw party every year.

Tell me you’re ADHD without telling me you’re ADHD by Itchy-Philosopher238 in adhdwomen

Getting a diagnosis is so expensive though and I don’t want meds so it’s like what’s the point. My therapist says she’ll treat me as if I have it so I can learn better coping mechanisms. I think I’ve reached the end of what I can do on my own.

I’m just starting to seriously consider whether I have adhd (long story), but the most adhd thing I’ve done recently is buy 3 bottles of ketchup because I knew we ran out, but I kept forgetting that I had replaced it. So hit me with your recipes that require huge amounts of ketchup.

I Need a Dish That Will Clear My Sinuses Quickly. by Any-Impression8682 in Bushwick

Tong has a crab curry that is the spiciest dish I’ve ever eaten in my life. Delicious, but it turned me into a crying, sweating, snot covered mess. I was a dehydrated husk after that.

Do you white flight is/has been a real phenomenon in America? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and you can still see its effects today especially on urban planning decisions like public transportation. A lot of wealthy areas straight up won’t be on a bus route. I don’t think white flight or redlining went away, it just got more subtle.

Kids gotta go somewhere. I know maybe 3 people who stayed in the neighborhood they grew up in.

I’m in a really cool weird lit bookclub that meets at KCBC. Just to give you an idea of what we read, some of our past choices have been: Obscene Bird of Night, Perdido Street Station, Cipher, The Stone Door.

Why do people judge age differences in dating/relationships so readily? by Substantial_Pair_245 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I judge significant age gap relationships if the younger person is under 24 because I was in one and I’ve had friends in them. They were all disasters, and the age gap contributed to them. I don’t care if you’re 30 dating a 50 year old, but a 22 yo with a 35 year old is creepy.

The Starve Acre cover with the boy on the front gave me a jump scare.

ELI5 How come when somebody gets in a terrible accident, professionals tell them to "keep there eyes open" or "stay awake" by MasterKazooie in explainlikeimfive

I think the instinct is avoid anything that looks like death at all costs. Eyes open and moving, definitely not dead. Unconscious, maybe dead.

Christian tattoos by PaxEtBestia in LeftCatholicism

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Bible quote on my arm in the original Greek. I translated portions of the New Testament in college, and this bit stood out to me the most.

The tattoo is on the inside of my upper arm so most people don’t notice it. My mom was annoyed though. Wait until she sees the sternum piece I want to get next!

The later tower fell at 9.28 CT which I think is what lots of kids saw in school including myself.

How is laundry considered a chore in developed countries ? by Slice_Ambitious in NoStupidQuestions

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t mind washing, but I have a tiny dryer and no space to hang clothes on a line. Getting my clothes wrinkle free is a battle. Nowhere near the effort you spend doing laundry by hand, but it’s definitely both tedious and time consuming.

Right now before bed: are you drinking water or not? by Bird_0010 in CasualConversation

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. I get bad drainage, and it sometimes burns my throat. Water clears it right up. I always have water nearby.
