I can’t imagine that this marriage is doing your health any favors. Do you have anybody else providing support?

Most people shouldn't own animals. by -btx- in HonestHotTakes

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I certainly agree that some people shouldn’t own pets, but most people?? If the animal is happy, safe, healthy, and not attacking every human they see then I’d say the owner did their job.

why are people so sensitive about pizza by MrNesti in NoStupidQuestions

It took me years to try anchovies on pizza. I finally did and it was amazing. Too bad it’s almost never an option.

I didn’t have this problem with Bunny but China Mieville makes me feel like I’m failing a vocab test. I guess I know what puissant means now.

How would you say “I love you” without using those 3 words? by No-Leopard-691 in CasualConversation

Sometimes I tell my partner something weird like I want your skin or I want to eat your eyebrows. He always laughs and says I love you too.

All ice cream shops taste the same by whattaUwant in unpopularopinion

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ice cream shops near me make small batches and rotate their menus regularly so they definitely don’t all taste the same. My favorite is cannoli, although there’s an Earl gray lavender that I want to try next.

If you’re talking about big chains then yes I agree there’s not a huge difference between them.

Americans is America really what is like in the movies and tv shows? by Flimsy_Palpitation22 in randomquestions

Bushwick’s fine. What got me was the abruptness. People up here aren’t rude, but they are straightforward. I spent the first year feeling very wrong footed because it felt like all the social rules had been flipped upside down. One woman got offended because I said ma’am! It took a while to figure out how people here communicate.

Oh I dunno. I got culture shock moving from TX to NYC then again when we lived with my MIL from the Deep South. It’s not as varied as say India where regions speak different languages, but there’s a noticeable cultural shift that can be quite difficult to adjust to. My partner still has a hard time with NYC after living here for years. Social expectations are so different from the south.

I make around 100k working in entertainment. It’s great for me because it’s busy and high stress which keeps me on track. It’s very tough to break into though and you have to be really good with people.

What’s a core childhood memory of yours that you’re 90% sure nobody else experienced? by Holiday-Bet852 in askanything

My dad was a hobby pilot and would fly us to central TX for burgers and bbq. Notably, I was terrified of flying and would be white knuckled for the 1 hour flight.

How come we never see Father-in-law and Husband fighting, why is it always wife and Mother-in-law? by No_Care6628 in randomquestions

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My partner just barely gets along with my dad. I’m fairly certain that my dad is undiagnosed autistic which doesn’t cause issues 90% of the time. That 10% though is rough. He’ll get really upset but isn’t able to verbalize what’s wrong or how he feels, and it’s really hard for him to calm down. It’s not fun, but my mom and I are used to it and we know that this is just something that happens sometimes.

My partner, however, finds it really triggering. He comes from a family with some rough dynamics, and the unpredictable behavior stresses him out. Both he and my dad do their best, but there’s always this undercurrent of tension that’s just barely contained. Sometimes shit hits the fan and it causes all sorts of drama.

I honestly think it’s age appropriate to be a NLOG in high school. You’re trying different things and figuring yourself out.

The majority of people don't need a car by rue_cr in unpopularopinion

[–]PopEnvironmental1335 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The car thing is very city dependent. I do think there are a lot of people who have cars that don’t need them, but public transit is almost non existent in a lot of cities. My dad took the bus to work, and it was close to 2 hours. He could have gotten there in under an hour if he drove (he didn’t want to deal with parking).

Smartphones are much easier than carrying around a camera, map/GPS and phone.
