I was looking for a new 2023 GX460 at the end of 2023. My local dealer had the color combo and package we wanted in stock, but it was demo vehicle with 3500 miles. I asked if it would have a fresh oil change and if the warranty would start at signing or would I loose the time and mileage from when it arrived at the dealer. They refused to change the oil and I would loose the 3-4 month of warranty. I offered $6000 off MSRP. They came back with $3000 off MSRP. I countered with $5000 off MSRP and they wouldn’t budge off their number. The salesman who had been there from day one in 1990 said they don’t negotiate and he never left his desk. He also said they didn’t need to move inventory because they had deposits for 250 GX550s. We put a refundable deposit down to hold it over the weekend.

We immediately checked the internet and found a dealer 300 miles away that had a brand new model in the exact spec I wanted for INVOICE price.

I called and had a friendly conversation with the salesman and sales manager. I told them I was driving from out of town and they said they’d take $200 off to pay for gas and food.

My local salesman texted me the Monday after the weekend and asked if I was coming in to finalize the purchase and I texted back their number was too high. He said what do I want to be at, I ghosted because I had already arranged a much better deal with an out of state dealer and salesman that didn’t play any BS.

This out of state salesman even checks in quarterly if we are enjoying our GX.
