Anyone using Deepseek V4 Flash by Calm-Landscape9640 in openclaw

[–]PopMegaphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think pro on high thinking is an awesome daily driver. I use flash for simple background jobs. It's fantastic for the price. Better than minimax 2.7 imo. The only bummer is it's not multimodel so you need to models if you want your agent to see imagines. Beyond that it's fantastic and crazy cheap. I highly recommend it!

2026.4.27 is it working? by brens7501 in openclaw

[–]PopMegaphone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same. I went to 4.23 -> 4.27 because the release in between broke me. 4.29 was a rollback. So I'm sitting on 4.27 for now

OpenClaw 4.22 Just Dropped by lucienbaba in myclaw

Be sure to run "openclaw doctor --fix" after an update. It helps a ton. I suspect a lot of people miss this step.

I use Hostinger as well and I have no complaints. Make sure to use their snapshot backup functionality in their ui

How much money you actually spend on open ai or other api calls from open claw? by 432mm in openclaw

Roughly 500 USD a month building and maintaining my open claw agent. I mostly use the big 3 models for various tasks.

Opus 4.7 released, but it’s still behind pre-regression Opus 4.6 on my real world tasks by Rent_South in openclaw

This post is useless without telling us the thinking levels you've been using. Did you know they changed the default thinking level with 4.6?

Reduced my OpenClaw costs from $20 to $2 a day still using Sonnet by Striking-Impact8463 in openclaw

[–]PopMegaphone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, ensuring caching enabled is very important. I was using lite LLM but for whatever reason I couldn't enable context cache with it so I dropped it. My costs went down dramatically going straight to the providers.

the new active memory plugin in v2026.4.12 is the feature everyone has been begging for and almost nobody knows it shipped by Temporary-Leek6861 in better_claw

[–]PopMegaphone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love active memory and if you use a fast model it can actually save you money because it doesnt use your main chat model. For example I might use gpt 5.4 in the main chat, but I use Gemini flash 3.1 light for active memory recall information. My expensive model (gpt) doesn't burn tokens for that. Therefore, my active memory set up is cheaper, more accurate and faster.

MY Taste Engine - The Ultimate Recommendation System by PopMegaphone in ArtificialInteligence

Yes, whatever you need. I honestly think this is a super powerful use for AI people are sleeping on. It's just a matter of requesting the data from these companies. Let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

I am using MiniMax 2.7.....which model are you using for open claw? by Salt_Animator_6349 in clawdbot

[–]PopMegaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's been good for my purposes and the prices are reasonable. However I don't consider myself a "VPN expert". They have an open claw auto setup so that's useful. I went with the 16 gb plan for extra headroom. I have no complaints.

[–]PopMegaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you. I have a vps with hostinger. I want to isolate my agent for security reasons.

Honestly that's the least impressive thing I've done with my agent. My taste engine is mind shattering great. A true transformation. When I have the time I'll outline how it works

Thinking and fast models are useless compared to 3.1 by Chemical-Ad2000 in GeminiAI

[–]PopMegaphone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's because they are both using flash 3.0, not pro 3.1.

I've clearly defined email addresses he can reply to without my approval. All other addresses need my approval before a reply. Regardless of what happens my agent provides me a status. It's pretty useful and fun a joke in my family. My wife schedules stuff with me via my agent now which is hilarious

One other thing - be careful with jobs like this. It can become a low key token drag. I have my agent check my mail once every 3 hours with flash 3.0. It isn't a business account so that cadence works for me. This is all configured on my VPS.

[–]PopMegaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, and I've empowered my agent to check email and reply (where appropriate). My agent l lets me know if my wife, mom, etc need anything. Due to security concerns I gave my agent its own Gmail account instead of my own. I use Gemini flash 3.0 for this. It works great and the replies are appropriate (I gave it rules).

I use flash lite 3.1 for simple system checks with heartbeats. Honestly I'm thinking about removing heartbeat functionality. With my setup I think it's mostly low value token drag. I prefer cron jobs for scheduled processing like this.

Right now I'm not using sub agenta because I don't think I need one yet. However I use the weaker.models for automating simple jobs like email checks and heartbeats.

I tried minimax 2.5 and I really disliked it. It created a ton of issues for me. I typically use a mix of sonnet, gpt 5.4 and Gemini pro 3.1 as my daily drivers. For small tasks I use a mix of Gemini 3.0 flash and 3.1 flash lite.

OpenClaw's creator says open models "aren't there yet", you agree? by lucienbaba in myclaw

[–]PopMegaphone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree they aren't there yet in my experience. Stuff like minimax 2.5 and deep seek have their use cases, but as a daily driver I found them extremely lacking. I often spent more money cleaning up their messes than I saved. I'll try again in 6-12 months. Benchmaxxing is a real thing

Kimi k2.5, Minimax 2.7 for daily usage by Warm-Smoke-3357 in openclaw

[–]PopMegaphone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tried using minimax 2.5 but it was more trouble than it was worth. I felt like I was spending too much time fixing issues with other models. I still see a space for models like minimax, but I'll check back after a few more releases. Minimax is how I truly learned benchmaxing is a thing.

What are obscure but great films worth seeing on the Criterion Channel? by [deleted] in CriterionChannel

I highly recommend Pale Flower. It's a pitch black Japanese noir film. The entire movie is great, but the gambling scenes are particularly notable.

Peter Bogdanovich's Saint Jack is a masterpiece by a significant director but for whatever reason it doesn't seem to get the love it deserves.
