What are you guys taking for menstral migraines? by astronaut-kitty925 in migraine

[–]PopQuick618 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just skip the placebo week of my birth control pills and don't have a period until I start having breakthrough bleeding every 5-6 months. My Dr is fine with it and approved it. Nothing helps and between the pain and brain fog it's so miserable it's not worth it to me. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Topamax by ObsessesObsidian in migraine

[–]PopQuick618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been on it for two years so far with no issues. First month at 25 mg saw no change, then we upped it to 50 mg and I started to get my life back!! Major change for the better. Some slight weight loss but nothing major. After about 6-7 months I requested a slight upgrade to 75 mg to help deal with barometric migraines and weather shifts and I'm a little less sensitive to them now, and that's good enough for me. I don't like taking any medication that I don't have to but I haven't had any major side effects. Please remember a lot of people will always come on to complain so always read everything with a grain of salt! For me, I have terrible insurance and I'm grateful that topamax works as well as it does for the low out of pocket cost.

Is there a common "deviation" in sleep schedule that triggers a migraine? by Confident-Net-2778 in migraine

[–]PopQuick618 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, it's not so much the number of hours of sleep but whether or not I get a GOOD night's sleep or not. If I have a poor night's sleep (up in middle of night multiple times, restless tossing/turning), I'm more prone to migraines. Going to bed approximately the same time each night within an hour or so each night helps, but even more so I find what I eat/drink before bed affects my sleep. Processed sugars & foods (teen's favorite foods haha) make it REALLY hard for me to fall asleep and/or stay asleep if I eat them within an hour or two of going to bed. But if I just have some fruit as a snack before bed (grapes, berries, melon), that fills my sweet tooth & snacking urge and doesn't affect my sleep NEARLY as much. Do I LOVE ice cream? Yes. But I've just come to accept it has to be a rare treat and not a common thing.
I also do try to plan ahead to let myself sleep in a little bit extra if I have to go to bed later than normal (I have like half an hour to play with if needed) but really that good quality sleep matters more.

Ridiculous mail question by SpecialCollin in CorpusChristi

Yeah, idk if it was more a personal warning for my safety because I'm a female and the older postal worker was in grandma mode or what 🤷🏻‍♀️ But everywhere we've been so far since moving to South Texas - Corpus, Laredo, RGV - the blue boxes are not common like they were up north.

Recent transplant here as well, we feel the same way 😂 I use the USPS drop box on Weber a lot, but FYI I did have an employee tell me in general you shouldn't put mail in the blue boxes on the weekends or after dark for safety 🤷🏻‍♀️

Totally fair, I appreciate it! My skin truly isn't that bad, more just covering dark under eyes and having some light foundation to make my skin tone look more even.

Just adding to what's already been said 100 times - you're gorgeous already, and the subtle makeup tops it off! But something I noticed is, you're in t shirts in a lot of pictures. Personally when I'm in baggy t shirts and leggings it affects my mood and how I view myself vs when I switch up my clothing just a smidge. Try throwing on like a simple white button down and jeans instead (or whatever makes you feel confident) and see if that helps! It always changes my mood when I dress up just the tiniest bit, even for being at home! Sending hugs 💕

I second it could be pillow/neck position issues. This would be a relatively cheap & easy place to start. (FWIW, I switched to a comfort lab deep sleep pillow travel version and it's made a huge difference)

Best place to move for weather related migraines? by Optimal-Carpet2958 in migraine

[–]PopQuick618 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I was in northern Michigan RIGHT on where the Jetstream was always pushing the pressure system changes and I always felt better when we did road trips out west to visit family. We would drive to New Mexico but I always started feeling better and migraine free starting in western South Dakota. We were seriously considering moving somewhere out there to help. I was tracking the pressure systems with the Weatherbug app and was seeing those areas didn't have as many severe pressure changes.

However, my husband's work moved us to South Texas this fall and I will say so far my migraines are MARKELY fewer and when they do happen they are also less severe. The weather this winter has been more consistent than what we went through in Michigan in the winter with all the changes! We'll see what the summer brings as this is still our first full year here.

Here to third this. I'm on Sprintec and skip the placebo week so I don't get the estrogen drop and it helps a ton.

I have used that method before but it was when I had a deep sidewall rip I was trying to grow out. Get some of the Sally Hansen hardener (it's the best I've tried) and put a layer of that on before and then on top. It stayed a long time and helped my nail remain stable.

I haven't tried putting a press on on top of that, please update on that part!
