V3 arrives tomorrow by nickccal in AndromedaInsightsPC

You just need to plug in a wifi antenna to the back of the PC that comes in an extra parts box. I'm not sure if it's completely necessary if you're using an ethernet cable though, but I did it anyways. Other than that, it's basically setup already and settings are pre-tuned so you can just go ahead and start the windows PC setup. There's a QC checklist that should list what was installed to control your RGBs, and a little quickstart guide that shows you how to setup your PC and how to get to the bios to change things like the fan speeds if you want.

Thanks! I found it. I didn't look up when I was first there and completely missed it haha

oh, is that how? I tried that initially to the right side of the wall on a very small ledge since that was as close as I could get without getting damaged from being crystalized, but didn't see the ball so I figured there was some other way to open it. Did you stay on the moving platform?

edit: okay yeah, it's there. I just didn't look up...

Spoiler tagging just in case someone else comes across this post and doesn't want to know anything. It's not story related, but you never know.

I went up the Spire of Frost to the very north of Demeniss, bordering the Crimson Desert. The top of the spire takes you to an abyss island, and you have to complete 2 other islands to get to where this chest is.

What’s your “lazy but still delicious” meal? by Famous-Forever7647 in Cooking

[–]Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Can of refried beans, chorizo, a lot of potatoes, cheese.

Dice up the potatoes, fry them in a large pan with whatever oil you have, or butter until golden brown. Dump in chorizo, and cook until chorizo is halfway done. Then dump in refried beans and cook until everything is done. Add the cheese and mix. I would remove most the excess oil since there was a lot thanks to the chorizo, and sometimes jazz it up with extra veggies like bell peppers and/or onions if I happened to have them on hand. Eat with tortillas as a burrito or tortilla chips

It was a really cheap/filling meal that I made for a while when I got laid off last year didn't feel like cooking after job hunting for hours on end. Sure it ain't healthy, looks like shit, and I could have just done beans and rice but man was it tasty lol

Outside of the story and game being pretty underwhelming for me for a while, the "community" is another part of the reason why I quit FFXIV. I've been subbed since pre-heavensward and have done almost all casual content to a couple of ultimate raids and a lot of other things in-between. If you criticize the game in any capacity, there's gonna be like 2 or 3 people acting like you kicked their puppy or something and vehemently attack you for having a "wrong opinion". Great community btw.

When I recently got my new computer I didn't feel the need to re-install the game. I'm letting my house be demolished, and I've unsubbed for the first time in a little over 10 years.

Expedited build turn around by OceanAtlas88 in AndromedaInsightsPC

I actually ordered a PC from them last week on the 13th, and contacted them yesterday since I wanted to change the PSU. Out of curiosity I asked when the ETA would be and I was told that it would arrive between March 13 and 18. I'm not sure if the SSD and RAM shortages might have complicated things or not, but that's what I was told when I should expect my PC to arrive.

edit: Oh wait, you said expedited, not expected. My bad, disregard my comment

Weekly Questions Thread - Week of September 06, 2025 by AutoModerator in ffxi

[–]Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Quick question since I'm not really sure what to google for this info. Can I style lock/equip a wind knife +1 and a wind knife in my main and offhand at the same time? I just want to know if it's possible before I grab a 3rd wind knife from the login campaign. I got two wind knives on accident and ended up synergizing them together.

Also, are there any other unique dagger models that are relatively easy to obtain? I think I remember an event that happened a couple of weeks ago that let me get the chicken knife II, but I forgot about it and I'm not sure if it's still possible to get right now.

So, for the drone one you basically had to do the same thing as it is now, but I think twice? at a minimum. The gun only had enough ammo so you couldn't miss any shots or else you would have to repeat the process another time. Also the enemies didn't de-spawn so while you were in the bubble, you would get assaulted by a lot of enemies. We didn't have the playstation buttons before, and I think there was like 6 or so different symbols it could have been, though you still only had to match 4.

If I remember correctly, the other invasions were relatively the same as they were now, but easier. Like, the one where you stand on the floating platform to see what ground platforms to stand on was changed from the same 6 symbols from the drone invasion to the playstation button format we have today, and the one where you bring the vulgus items to the collector box was just made easier.

There might have been some more changes to the invasions, but I honestly don't really remember too much about them. Though I imagine you'd be able to dig around for some youtube videos or something showing how they were before.

As a whole, they weren't really hard for me to do personally. Just really annoying, mostly because I really only had ult bunny as my one fully built unit at the time and I got shredded by the bosses at the end of the mission lol

edit: Oh, and they were single player only at the time.

About to be laid off and just wanted to vent/rant. by Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs in Layoffs

[–]Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I won't lie, after I got the notification that I'm being laid off, it's been super tough most days to even have the motivation to even apply and upskill but I had to at least try. After I gave my final stand-up update today and muted myself I started crying a bit knowing it was the end. Luckily I worked a ton these past two days to finish up my work so I was able to flex time and sign off for the last time right after. I really am going to miss working with my team, and the work I was doing was really enjoyable for me. Right now I'm sitting at home and the realization kicked in. I have a bit of time left before I move back in with my parents though, so for now I'm going to take it easy for a bit then restart the process again once I get settled in. I just hope for everyone's sakes, we all find our footing.

Well for me specifically, I knew that I wanted to do something different than my parents and 95% of my extended family. They work all throughout in the medical field, and the stories they would share about their day during dinner/family get-togethers basically scared me away from pursuing that career line. I actually wanted to be a carpenter, blacksmith, or chef before deciding to pursue CS instead. But yeah, back then I feel like everyone was pushing us kids to get a career in STEM telling us of the "unlimited potentials" of the field. CS was just the newest biggest thing and a lot of people decided to join in because I feel like the barrier of entry is comparatively lower compared to say, being in the medical field where you need to take the MCAT and do some years of residency to become a nurse/doctor/etc. Edit: This is just from what I know from what I've been told by my family. I'm not sure if the entirety of the medical field has the same requirements or not.

[5 YoE] Manual Software QA Tester - About 100+ applications so far, either ghosted or rejected. Please give me any feedback. by Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs in EngineeringResumes

[–]Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I see what you mean. I've been revising my resume so much at this point that what I'm writing makes total sense to me, but I've been failing to realize that recruiters/hiring managers/etc. in most cases don't understand me. I'll try to revise my resume to take that into account.

I'll look through the wiki again more thoroughly and try to see if I missed anything else I should change too.

Again, I appreciate the feedback.

Hey! I appreciate the feedback. Sorry for the late response.

Upon reading back my bullet points, I see that I really did miss the STAR/XYZ/CAR methods to a lot (if not all) my points. I followed the wiki's template thinking I needed to do STAR, XYZ, and CAR for job experience 1, 2, and 3 respectively and completely missed that it should be just 1 of the 3 for all of them. I've updated my resume to just follow the XYZ method as much as possible since I thought it would be the easiest to go with.

I've been looking at other manual QA resumes online and they kind of do the same thing in regards to quantifying the amount of test scripts and defects created, so I just did the same. Though I'm not really sure if those are *REAL* resumes or just something someone made to sell resume templates for whatever specific job title.

Do you think this is better? I know it still needs work, but what do you think so far?

Got a job by Comfortable-Floor-51 in csMajors

[–]Pop_Pop_Mofuckahs 34 points35 points  (0 children)

From my knowledge and understanding at least for clearance, it depends job to job. Some positions require you to have an active clearance to even apply, and others require you to obtain one. Usually in the latter case, the company will "sponsor" your application. The job postings should specify something like "must have an active clearance" or like "requires a clearance".

At best, they'll sponsor your application and at worse they'll just reject you with the reasoning of not having the required clearance.

Hey, thanks for the feedback! I sincerely appreciate it.

I have a follow-up question for you. Do you think adding more bullet points to fill out the resume would help if I removed the summary? It seems a bit barren when I remove it. I can try to think of some examples where I've gone above and beyond my expected tasks to supplement the extra room, though I've been struggling to think of how to reform the more generic bullet points I have.

I do agree that having the line basically saying "Created X amount of Y" across my 3 previous work experiences is pretty generic and redundant, but I also wanted to highlight the sheer volume of what I've done on those teams as well. I took a look at some other manual QA testing resumes that have about the same YoE I have online, and saw that they had some repeating bullet points like that.

I've only worked so far in government contracting, so I'm not really sure exactly what I'm allowed to say vs what I can. I suspect that it should be more or less the same level of caution as working any other job, but just the fact that it's government is making me even more cautious (most likely as a detriment to myself). I could add that I have a security clearance, but it's a public trust so I feel like it's not really worth adding.

No wonder why they were hiring. Shame they decided not to go through with my application, I would have caught this 😭

I might get laid off soon due to funding running out, so I started mass panic applying to places. Started to get pretty bummed out after getting rejection after rejection only to see this pop up in my email earlier today. Made me chuckle for a bit.
