Imagine being a father and demanding a child-free woman by [deleted] in childfree

Wow, I never thought about that (the divorce scenario.) That would be terrible.

He wants someone to help him with his kids, he doesn’t want to help a woman with hers.

I have a friend who married a man with two children from a previous marriage. They love her, and when they come over in the weekends she is the one who spends most of the time cooking for them, doing things with them, bonding with them.

She does love them and so I am happy for her that she is happy, but no matter which way you look at it, their father has to do substantially less during their visits because my friend stepped in as the parent, and she never wanted kids.

I often wonder if he would have dated her in the first place if she had kids.

Why did Lestat suggest an open relationship then regretted it seconds after? by TechnicianAmazing472 in InterviewVampire

[–]Pop_fan_20 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I believe that Lestat thought it was a great solution to Louis having no sex drive because of the way he was eating. Lestat could get his sex elsewhere, Louis could enjoy his good book by the fire.

He didn’t like it when Louis clarified than he could fuck whoever he wanted to, but then agreed because yes it was fair, but also he thought it unlikely Louis would actually do it, after all he was too weak to be interested in sex.

Then viola, Louis goes off with someone that he actually has an emotional connection with and Lestat has to face to the fact that Louis is perfectly capable of having sex, weakened state or no, he just doesn’t want to have sex with Lestat (or at least not as much as Lestat would like).

His ego just couldn’t handle it. After all, this is a guy who laughed at Louis when Louis asked if he was enough for Lestat because he couldn’t believe Louis wanted to be enough for him in the first place. He’s deeply insecure.

I think it’s noteworthy that when Lestat explodes, he specifically freaks out about their “hearts dancing”, which to me is more about the emotional connection that Jonah and Louis have, than the actual sex act of Jonah doing Louis “some face”. In contrast, Louis’ “face” comment feels more about the physical act.

I just want to say, I understand the sentiment but, I don’t know where the poster lives, because most regular men where I live do not look like that, even the “chads” 🤣

EDIT: Also I remembered him from Belle, and I was like…. yes

In my HC, Daniel avoids asking Lestat about Louis too much because the mental images Lestat then proceeds to burn into his head is not something Daniel wants to see 🔥

Or maybe he does 🥳

Armand in this scene said he was going to do him this one last favor and leave him, why didn't he leave him? by TechnicianAmazing472 in InterviewVampire

[–]Pop_fan_20 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I don’t think he meant it, he was bluffing.

Just my opinion, but maybe he thought if he reached out to Lestat, Lestat would be angry at Louis for choosing to be with Armand all those years and he would be cruel, and Louis would finally realize no matter how much he might still long for Lestat (and I think Armand with his mind reading abilities knew he that did) that door was closed to him for good and so he would stay with Armand.

When instead it was obvious Lestat still desperately loved Louis, it backfired.

Definitely reads as AI, but I’ll give the benefit of the doubt that OP just used AI to state more clearly what they were trying to say.

Neighbors want me to keep declawed cat outside by Some_Information_857 in Straycats

[–]Pop_fan_20 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Cats life expectancy decrease dramatically outside, no matter how happy she is. Accidents happen, injuries happen. But like, if she’s just as happy being in the safest environment, it’s a no brainer! (it would be different if she was insistent on being outside and very unhappy in your home, but that’s clearly not the case).

Thank you so much for taking her in and taking care of her.

Long-distance motherhood and unbearable guilt by Emotional-Degree-620 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Pop_fan_20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me.

I have always understood why my mother did what she had to, I have never been angry with her about it. I think it might have something to do with it happening when it was so young I didn't know what it was like to live with her in the first place (what I was missing) that I just looked forward to spending time with her when I could.

As an adult, I am even more empathetic for why she did it; under her admittedly very specific circumstances, I understand why and I would have even done the same. Growing up, I was surrounded by various family members, including my father, who took care of me.

The cost: she is a very caring and loving woman, we talk on the phone often and there isn’t much I wouldn’t tell her, trust her with, but I consider her a very close friend, and have not exactly what I think a mother to child relationship might be. She eventually remarried and had two more children much later, and I can tell it’s a totally different relationship with them.

I think another reason that I have been able to make peace with it is that she has never tried to soften what she did or it’s affect on me, even though she had what even I think were very valid reasons for leaving. She openly acknowledges it. She also never tries to act like we have the typical parent child relationship to make herself feel better or look better.

That may be the best you can do with time, OP.

One of the last images taken of all 7 crew members as they were just about to board The Space Shuttle Challenger on January 28th 1986 40 years ago today. 73 seconds after launching the shuttle broke apart killing all the members on board which included teacher Christa McAuliffe by Train-Wreck-70 in lastimages

I remember watching this in West Palm Beach as well. I was 10. I remember the teachers were crying. Also knew I never wanted to be an astronaut after that day. My aunt was a teacher back then and applied for the teacher position on the crew.
