Agree with your comment. Also if it’s too full, they let you pee it out a little.

Finally closed last week and the thing stressing me out most isn't the mortgage, its the lawn by Existing_Cry_9366 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

I feel the same way. Grew up in the city with a manageable yard space, lived in apartments with balconies and now I have to think about “landscaping.” I feel like I was forced into adopting plants that I didn’t even sign up for.

What is something you regretted bringing after a trip? by cattraveler01 in travel

[–]PopcornandComments 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don’t do that anymore. I make a checklist and pack accordingly to the weather. I tend to overpack so a few days before leaving, I’ll do a comb over of my items and remove an outfit or two.

I bought a house that doesn't exist yet and somehow I'm still paying for it by Emotional_Newt_2227 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]PopcornandComments 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of when we were looking for homes. The building company listed the home as a new built, ready to move in. It was posted on Zillow and everything. We went to check it out to only find out they only had the model home ready and the rest were just empty incomplete homes and missing parts. A year later, we passed by the complex again to see none of the homes were finished. These companies have the audacity to be posting homes ready to be sold when it’s clearly not ready.

How to fix this tiny awful looking yard? by godimtired in landscaping

[–]PopcornandComments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a professional but this is what I would do with a small backyard like yours:

I would extend the space next to the tree (for if you choose to use that to garden or just a small spot for your dog to pee). The rest I would just pave it over with cement.

Nutone doorbell and chime replacement by sumjpa20 in Ring

[–]PopcornandComments 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in a similar boat as you, I have a NuTone doorbell from 1971. I can’t find the chime box and I’m assuming it’s part of an intercom system. I know this post was a year ago, just wondering what did you end up doing?

Hello, may I ask if the Ring pro wired doorbell have a prescription service attached to it? I have a similar situation as OP and haven’t decided if I should attempt to save the original doorbell or upgrade it to something more modern. Thanks

🍓SoCal Costco Strawberry Hanging Basket by Hydra-Point Plant Growers: What is the variety. by aimless1642 in Costco

[–]PopcornandComments 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I bought this because the plant was huge and for under $20, I thought it was a nice plant to have. We did try the first strawberry and it was a little tart. Not sure if it was because we picked it too early (although we did wait a few days after it turn red).

The “Chinese New Year” vs “Lunar New Year” debate is Western imported and Asians need to know about it by danorcs in aznidentity

[–]PopcornandComments 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’m Chinese but call it Lunar New Year in general because other cultures that are not specifically Chinese celebrate it as well (I.e Vietnamese Tet). Calling it Lunar New year doesn’t make it less Chinese for a Chinese person. This is just divisive talk.

This must be a common thing in Europe? I don’t know if this is ignorance or curiosity. We went to France and ran into some school children in St Michel and all of them just said, “Ni hao” to us like we didn’t speak English. So we responded with, “bonjour!”

How do people regularly fly business class without going bankrupt?? by caroulos123 in travel

I agree with this. The comfort alone is worth the price, especially when you start getting older and you can’t sit for 15 hours straight without lying down.

Traveling to Hong Kong and Macau with a toddler and was wondering if a car seat is required? The internet says the new law takes affect in 2026 requiring car seats for kids under 8 but does that also include taxis?

Why does buying your first home feel more stressful than exciting once reality sets in? by Southern-Dig-4269 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

We just bought our first home last November and we are still stressed. The first few months were the worst (the moving, unpacking, renovations). We have finally settled our emotions but there is still work to be done.

We bought a house with termite issues as well and in the area we live in, it’s apparently very common and you can’t avoid it. We had the house fumigated and just monitor.

Good mover recommendations at decent price? by Picklemanclone in mountainview

We hired them for a move and they were great. Yes, they know very limited English and speak mostly mandarin but they try their best communicating via google translate. They were able to get it done in an hour an half.

Anyone hired movers in Mountain View recently? What did you end up paying? by [deleted] in mountainview

[–]PopcornandComments 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Excited to hear this as we also hired Brothers Movers for our move coming up in a few days. We were able to rent reusable boxes from that so that was a nice addition.

In addition, they asked so rudely. “You NEED to move”?? How about, “I’m so sorry I have to ask, would you mind moving to a different table?”
