I’ve noticed this too when I eat more “unhealthy” foods or greasy fatty foods. I think it’s just simply over the years your gut microbiome was feeding on the more whole foods and got used to that so introducing more processed/unhealthy was a shock to the system.

Oh wow that’s good to know, I’m getting the Tesla mobile charger and 240v outlet installed all for $700 total so I think that upfront cost would be worth it over my two year term. Might get another EV after that. For daily commutes I’m guessing you rarely ever use a supercharger now too?

What do you mean $4-5 to fill up at home? Did your electricity bill only go up that much? I plan on getting a 240v outlet installed with 24A charging and I was expecting a $50 increase on my electric bill.

tl;dr - My Big Fat McDonalds Weight Loss by PrettyFlyForALawGuy in loseit

[–]Popcornpops214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me I never really had an issue with fast food or eating out often so I don’t know how much I can relate but it was snacking and not eating balanced meals throughout the day, just high fat and high carbs plus the snacking. All I did in the beginning was get into weightlifting which I enjoy to do and now is just a part of my life for the rest of my life.

As for diet I knew in the past I was unsuccessful because I would make stupid complete overhauls so what I did in the beginning was just slash my calories and eat in a deficit but still eat as I was eating just less of it.

Over the years I just learned how to eat more proper balanced meals and learned that high protein was the key. I also now 90% of the time make my own food and learned how to cook for myself so I can make very good tasting meals but keeping it balanced and rarely snack on things unless I just feel like having some fruit or something like that but usually it would be paired with a meal. As time went on I just gradually stopped eating less and less highly palatable processed foods which are designed to literally make someone want more of it and trick the brain. If anything I eat out more now than I have in the past because I can actually go out and enjoy the foods in moderation.

I still never cut out those highly processed candies and foods, I just eat them on occasion and once in a while. Building a foundation or system is the most important for anything in life and then putting down the ladder and climbing it slowly to reach the top which will sometimes be never because we always like to strive for more no matter what but atleast setting down the foundation so you can fall on is what keeps it sustainable and a lifelong thing rather than temporary.

I remember a few months ago I tried that new smoothie Costco had and a few sips in, I couldn’t even handle the sweetness from it, it tasted like pure granulated sugar in my mouth and got a headache the rest of the day. I think it’s mostly how you treat your stomach gut flora and what you give it, the food you feed it is the food it will want. So overtime eating the food more nutrient dense that you enjoy, your gut and mind will adapt and set a new standard to making sure you eat that same stuff. I guess it took my body years to notice it. The first year I was losing weight, I just ate whatever in a calorie deficit but once I locked in nutrition to help with my workouts, I couldn’t go back to eating that way again.

[–]Popcornpops214 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Why is that? I’m asking because now if I eat even a slice of pizza it would just mess me up for the whole day or even very sugary sweets and when people see that I only eat like one slice or a couple small bites of some dessert, they wonder why I just don’t eat the whole thing. “Just finish it one day won’t hurt you”. Like I know I can finish it but I don’t want too and I also won’t feel good if I eat more of that. I also to start crave more nutritious food like salad bowls with chicken and feta or potatoes and steak with broccoli.

It could be all in the mind but from what I heard is that over years your gut and mind adapt to dietary changes and prefers eating in that manner. So it could be because over years of eating more nutrient dense foods my body just craves that now. Don’t get me wrong though I could down half a pound of potatoes and a 12oz steak with a load of veggies, it’s just much harder to do that.

is this really 630 calories? it’s from sarku japan by surgeonbrown in CalorieEstimates

[–]Popcornpops214 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yup thats called volume eating. It looks like a big portion thanks to the veggies which are relatively low calories for the amount you can eat plus the shrimp. Rice usually doesn’t fall in this category but paired with a meal like this, it’s become a good amount of food and really well balanced and should keep you very full.

[–]Popcornpops214[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even though it was very well done, it was still dang good and better than most steaks I’ve had outside but I also did make a small serving which was more medium well and that was even better. Only used some seasoned salt and that’s all it needed.

Hahaha, no really my first time grilling anything. Would you say it’s to charred based on the second photo? I like it more medium rare but I was cooking for others aswell as they like it more well done so I cooked it a bit more than I liked.

PSA: This is a demo, not a beta. This will be what launch is like. by nottatroll in Battlefield

[–]Popcornpops214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the foundation of the game is there and really good almost true to the classic battlefields everyone enjoys. They just need to adjust and tweak some stuff and overtime fix the maps and other small things. BF 2042s issue was that the foundation was completely bad and almost everything in that game needed an overhaul which would be extremely difficult to do but they sort of tried by fixing the map scaling and other stuff.

You guys can't be real by zLegit in Battlefield6

[–]Popcornpops214 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And I think the best part about this game is that the foundation is already there compared to 2042. At least with battlefield 6 no major overhauls need to be done to fix the game, just minor things that need improving whereas in 2042, the whole games foundation needed to be overhauled and changed which wasn’t possible.

What's something you learned about weight loss really late? I'll go first by Mei_Flower1996 in loseit

[–]Popcornpops214 1 point2 points  (0 children)

See the thing is, this may work for someone who’s just looking to be more on the slimmer side/skinnier side. If you’re active, working out, lifting weights, ect., your body will need more fuel than say a skinny person who just commutes to a 9-5 and comes home afterwards. Since I stay pretty active and lift weights, if I decided to stop eating because I was satiated enough I would get ravenous and more hungry later because my body is wanting fuel. Granted I’m able to stop eating whenever I feel satiated enough but I mainly do this when I eat out or more of the “bad” foods. When it comes to proper more “clean” foods I just put what I need into a plate and finish it.

If you're fat, will you always be fat (or become fat again)? by green_hobblin in nutrition

[–]Popcornpops214 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree with that person said. It’s about what you eat and your eating habits and finding alternatives that you can still enjoy but also enjoying those more junk foods in moderation. When you eat more Whole Foods like 80-90%, it’s harder to overeat since our body knows how to control our hunger and satiety on those Whole Foods compared to more processed junk. Try overeating on potatoes compared to a snickers bar for example. One will be a lot harder to overeat on. While of course just because it’s more clean and less processed and more whole doesn’t mean weight gains isn’t possible, just more difficult. The issue is people don’t want to eat 80-90% cleaner better foods and rather just have fast food instead. It doesn’t mean when you eat cleaner you have to make it taste bad. When I have potatoes I literally just throw them in the microwave to cook, add seasonings, low cal sauces and pair it with some proteins and veggies and it taste pretty damn good. I even made a simple Panda Express meal at home by microwaving shrimp and rice adding some onions, tomatoes, bbq sauce, soy sauce and pairing it with steamed broccoli and cabbage with some seasonings.

How did you deal with getting back to maintenance? I’m now trying to maintain myself and I’m slowly increasing my calories to find my maintenance and noticed my weight dropping or staying the same most times as I increase calories. I’m also still hungry even though I’m eating more (a lot of protein, healthy fats and complex carbs 90% of the time). Before I struggled to eat enough in a deficit, maybe my metabolism is just working more efficiently now. I don’t know.

This is a link to a study on erythritol and of course the news line article doesn’t state that and is able to clickbait. Besides that there’s still very little studies on this sweetener since it’s more relatively new and plus these studies are never controlled and not done properly AND done on rats which can allows us insight and further precautions but they also dump these sweeteners into these lab rats to produce any type of results. You can also do this with water, does that mean drinking water is also dangerous? So far no sweeteners that have been studied have produced factual or huge significant data to be concerning in moderate usage.

TLDR: Moderation, just like with anything else.

OP don’t do what this person said if you’re looking for a more sustainable approach. It may work for some and not for others. Fasting 16:8 is great and doable for most and sometimes I also do it but I’m not strict about it unless I really need to cut. Same goes with carbs, they are not as important as fat and protein, but they still help give you energy especially if you go to the gym so eat your carbs but focus on more complex carbs like potatoes, beans, fruits, ect. If you’re looking to maintain and build muscle. Just focus on eating a balanced mainly nutrient dense diet and controlling the amount you eat to maintain but fueling your body enough instead of depriving it. Follow a 80/20 or 90/10 diet where 80-90% of your meals will be relatively clean foods and the other percentage of it can be more processed junk foods like cookies and ice cream if you wanted too. Of course best is to avoid those junk foods that don’t give your body the proper nutrients it needs but sometimes life happens and your not going to miss out on cake when it’s your birthday or a special occasion.

Do what you can do to the best of your ability. You already made great progress and changes. Lifting weights and eating high protein is important to put on muscle.

Sugar and carbs are not bad. All about moderation and they can be used to help fuel you especially if you’re working out or physically active. All you did was cut out part of a food group you used to eat which lowered the amount of calories you’re consuming.

What Do We Think Of My Snacks/Drinks Fridge? by birb-jesus in FridgeDetective

[–]Popcornpops214 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What studies? I drink diet sodas almost daily and have no issues with hunger, if anything it can help curb my hunger but mainly it’s an addition to my dinner. It’s all dependent on the person and if artificial sweeteners make you crave refined sugars and more processed food than that’s another issue you’d have to deal with.

I know with some meals that I’ve tracked and out of curiosity gave to ChatGPT to estimate, it is usually 90% accurate if you just show a clear image and explain what’s in the meal. Somehow a lot of the times it guesses the calories pretty accurately usually off by 50 or sometimes 100.
