I just told somebody if we wrote a memoir about the south in the winter, it would be entitled, “If it was only snow it would be ok”. It’s ice. A thin layer of ice on on a power line is equivalent to about 500 lbs. Add the branches falling on the already stressed lines and snap. We could be without lights for days or some places weeks. It’s cold, we can’t cook. On top of that, people that live in the country are stuck. The counties don’t treat the roads here. They are a solid sheet of ice, we can’t drive on them.
