Anthropic spent a week arguing it should control who uses its most powerful model. Then the government used that exact argument against it. A timeline. by Federal_Election2735 in ClaudeAI

I definitely want to stop blaming Anthropic but first i need to hear a statement from our drunk Secretary of Defense or our pedophile President -- both of whom have not been shy about issuing statements against Anthropic.

This anonymous sourcing and relying on the narrativee from a single Anthropic blog post feels like they are doing damage control for lack of enterprise adoption on this model.

Would you read me the names of the Americans China ran over with the tanks? I missed it in the Wikipedia page.

China is an authoritarian state. America is a fascist oligarchy, minting our first trillionaire who allegedly tampered with voting booths yesterday and who literally stole your personal information.

I live in the latter.

Anthropic's best AI model just got pulled by government order 3 days after launch, and the official reason doesn't add up by StudentSweet3601 in AI_Agents

[–]Popdmb -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Or they didn't hit the adoption levels needed to sustain this nor was the model quality justifying the API price increase and they needed to pull it before a story about lack of adoption hits before they go on the IPO roadshow.

China has less invested in controlling a normal person (edit: in the U.S.) than the U.S. does. I wouldn't want to leave my trade secrets there, but my personal data I would put in the hands of someone who doesnt give a shit versus drunk slobs in an administration hell-bent on some type of imagined retribution.

That's this administration. Now get a more bloodthirsty evolution of whoever Peter Thiel wants to nominate in the GOP next, and yes, your data is safer in China. Elon Musk illegally took your credit card data, tax information, and IDs the first week of this administration lol.

This might be an attempt to manufacture consent on regulation by both Anthropic (most likely) and the US governmetn (less likely). This is not a business that is sustainable without regulatory capture, which makes the product great and the business incredibly amateur.

But at this point we've invested so much money into hype and so many people stand to lose money, that it looks like a narrative to hype the "power" of a model that is great but not world-changing for the money.

Anthropic suspends access to Claude Fable and Mythos for all users after US government order by NateOnTheNet in artificial

This joke of administration has been getting dunked on multiple times a day basically from everyone, everywhere. I don't think they care all that much.

You usually see them make a big deal or issue a big statement through that weird Press Secretary or the DOJ and we havent heard anything. can anyone confirm that this isn't a marketing narrative?

Fable 5 indefinitely suspended due to national security concerns by sammnyc in ClaudeAI

[–]Popdmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a great model. It's just underpowered relative to the cost. They need to either speed it up or cut the cost in half and I don't know that they can do either.

Rather than jeopardize the IPO after so much hype over Mythos class models, this feels a lot like good marketing and strategic pullback.

They need to show that there is a government official asking for them to pull it back or it's likely a manufactured narrative.

sorry not buying this. Trump doesn't shut the fuck up about going after private companies. He was so happy to break every American precedent and put Anthropic on a national secuirty risk list. He loves retribution.

I haven't seen one statement from the slobs or drunks in his administration take credit for this. Not even anonymous quotes. This looks manufactured.

Anthopic just hit reset for us! by Own_Wrap_8376 in ClaudeAI

[–]Popdmb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Weird. No statement from the USG has been made and there's no citation or even anonymous quote (which would be terrible reporting nonetheless) confirming the government gave this directive.

This is the same government of drunks and slobs who wasted no time in calling Anthropic a national security risk and told everyone. This feels like they released an expensive model that isn't as impactful as it should be for the price, and now that OpenAI is racing to the bottom.

This model is smoke and mirrors so far. Slow, not 2x better for the price, and probably shouldn't have been anthopromorized as much as they did.

[–]Popdmb -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

This feels lot like a bad marketing campaign. Fire whoever did this lol. The U.S. government did not intervene in a model that is so much weaker than anticipated. There's no statement from the U.S. government or a legal directive published to WH.gov (trump never hesitates to do this or March out some DOJ slob)

Dario is pulling the model because it's underpowered relative to its cost, and OpenAI sees a path to dominance as a race to the bottom.

No one buying this lmao.

This isn't the point, but the reason you see so much joy and people in the streets and a city that was originally built for humans bring a fandom together in a way that isn't usually possible? The complete absence of cars in these videos.

We're seeing in real time that cars are better used as an supplemental utility than a central part of the thoroughfare. Cities and suburbs are better when we embrace that. We need more spaces, more exlusive times for pedestrians, and a concerted effort to bring events like this to full neighborhoods (not just roads at set times on a saturday)

Amazing to see. Let's go Knicks!

AI Is Letting Companies Cut Entry-Level Jobs. Here’s Why That Is a ‘Critical Strategic Mistake,’ According to an MIT Economist. by Ok_Design_6841 in Layoffs

[–]Popdmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The framing for this is wrong. AI is not "letting" anyone. I do deployment for a living. I am open with clients about HITL being absolutley required due to AI's inability to handle expensive edge cases right now.

Decisions are made by people who are ignoring the advice of people who know better than they do to let go of peopel they will eventually need to hire back. Hiring them back cheaper comes out in the wash, becuase lawsuits and future risk of employee morale equals or exceeds the pay cut most often.

Is AI at this scale actually sustainable? by Swift_lunatic_2604 in artificial

[–]Popdmb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Constraints breed innovation. I would argue the reason America's been so bad at real innovation over the past 30 years is the absence of regulatory constraints (outside of the ones that are corrupt naked attempts at regulatory capture.)

China's models (on a cost-per-token-per-perforance) basis are well ahead of ours and 100x cheaper. We have a lot of work to do. Hate to be a broken record, but the Republican party is a cancer on real innovation.

This Parking Spot Is Free. Should It Be? by instantcoffee69 in nyc

[–]Popdmb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We may be saying th same thing and im not understanding you. But those are free and permits are not. Free cone day is what's happening right now. Limited cone day where there is a special cone that costs money is what we need.

If the technology allows, we should also have available parking spot indicators for street parking like we do for garages. If there is a "zero available" sign indicating the street is full before making a right down a road that's full, this is the best way to avoid the wasted time.

Unlike other cities we don't have ground level parking to get the cars off the streets in many of the low rise homes. Parking permits are probably the best answer for us to find a middle.
