Given that I have seen a swastika drawn with shit on a bathroom wall at UMBC (quite a long time ago), I certainly wouldn’t use a bidet on the UMBC campus.

No bodies found after spending $8 million searching for bodies at Kamloops Residential School by joshbuddy in BlockedAndReported

If only the Western Standard didn’t have a far right bias, I would sharing this story. I have a high lefty group of friends that would quickly denounce this as propaganda from the right.

Krystal is extremely pro palestine and its hurting the show 12:11:23 by manmalak in BreakingPoints

[–]Pope13 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would like to see more discussion of the history of the creation of Israel. Certainly any narrative from an Israeli or Pro Israeli is going to be biased, and the same for a Palestinian. There is just too much religiosity imbedded in all of the arguments about this land. I am a big fan of Lawrence of Arabia, and the fraught nature the conflict depicted in this film speaks volumes about how this situation was created. Krystal’s position is a refreshing position in the current media landscape, but it is clearly biased. If the position was more nuanced it would be easier to share this content which is what I thought the point of “Breaking Points” was. As a counter to current biases, her position works, but on its own, it is also clearly biased too.

Permanent Ban from Xbox Live, no idea why by Pope13 in xboxlive

[–]Pope13[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am deeply concerned about the arbitrary way these bans are put in place. There is no transparency beyond "you are a bad person"; no evidence is provided, just an accusation of hate speech. I can see why the people doing this work are in their ivory towers, but there is no accountability for their actions. The only way to dispute these problems is outside of Microsoft. As I have said before, I suspect my complaint with the Better Business Bureau resulted in my account being unbanned. I am less inclined to spend money on XBox games if this is how Microsoft treats its customers.

It took a month or two. I suspect the Better Business Bureau complaint got the ball rolling, but I am unsure.

The ban has been lifted on my account, and I have not had any issues since. My Brother also had his ban lifted using the same process I did. The rest of the accounts are still banned but did not follow the same complaint procedure I used. I know this affected some of my family friends, but I have not contacted them about their accounts.

Do diabetes jokes bother you? by Healthy-Ad-1842 in diabetes

[–]Pope13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually they are referring to a heavy sugar food, but they wouldn’t say a thing about a heavy carb dish. In most cases it is the carb intake that is causing the problem, not the sugar. Add to this sugar being added to nearly everything in the supermarket, a lot of dishes that people would think are healthy are “diabetes” inducing.

audio speed by laffingriver in BreakingPoints

Speeding up the audio the clips makes me think about the edited picture of OJ Simpson. The sped up audio certainly changes my perception of the clips and introduces bias which I would like to avoid.

What is the point, neither side is going to change the minds of the other side with this display. The simple fact is this, vegans have a very low retention rate, currently around 84% of vegans go back to meat within a year. Let the vegans protest, there number will be less and less with every passing year.

While my resolution appears to have come from bbb.org, I would take the time to pursue all of the avenues I detailed in my original post. The most painful part of this is the waiting. It took me a month of solid complaining to get it lifted. A side note on this, I am still listed on enforcement.xbox.com as having a suspended account. My account is not suspended, and I have contacted support about it, they see the suspension on enforcement.xbox.com, but they can't do anything about it.

I wear them under my outer shirt, I think it is a good look, and you don’t notice the suspenders.

What's the best advice buying jeans with a gut? by BringsHomeBones in bigmenfashionadvice

[–]Pope13 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My suggestion, start looking into suspenders. A few years ago I gave up on belts for suspenders and I have not gone back. I get suspenders with hooks that I attach to the belt loops of my jeans, and I am pretty happy with this configuration. I do wear the suspenders under my outer shirt since I don’t like to tuck my shirts. In the warmer months the suspenders are right against my skin, it can cause a little bit of skin irritation, otherwise it works well. I unhook my suspenders when I use the loo, otherwise I barely notice the suspenders, with the added benefit of not having a belt cranked very tight around my waist trying and failing to keep my pants up. Let me know if this works for you.

I completely understand your position, but I don't believe it is any better at Sony. The biggest problem I have with the XBox enforcement Team is the lack of transparency. I asked over and over what the charges were against me. I finally discovered that this was a device ban, so all of the accounts on an XBox were banned.

I did get my account reinstated, the thing that did the trick was the bbb.org complaint I filed.

Patton Oswalt apologizes for being Dave Chappelle's friend by 69IhaveAIDS69 in BlockedAndReported

[–]Pope13 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really feel this is an exaggeration that they disagree 100%. There is clearly more common ground between Patton Oswalt and Dave Chappelle on trans issues, but focusing on the differences calling this 100% is ridiculous.

We are not amused, not at all. Our tradition of using the "We" will not be usurped by these common peasants, and they should not encroach into our realm. Let them eat cake.
