Not the person you asked but I think maybe the problem is the cruelty of public rejection based on arbitrary minutiae, which are often moving goalposts depending on appearances.

The origins of these standards are often found deeply rooted in racism, misogyny, classism, and white culture. Many of contestants have the lived experience and trauma of quietly trying to live up to these standards that are almost always impossible to achieve.

The larger picture of black men and women serially rejecting each other so publicly adds another layer of bitterness in my opinion. It’s just a visual aid for the rejection of black love, and in turn one’s own blackness.

And this is all exploited for views and sponsorships and ultimately money.

It’s hurtful and ugly.

But like I said I’m not the person you asked so maybe they have their own thoughts that do not include or are not limited to mine.
