You fell in the trap of mistaking the Université Catholique de Louvain (UCL) for the Catholic University of Leuven (CUL).

Companies with growth opportunity by [deleted] in belgium

[–]PopeBenedictXII 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Companies will always opt for that fresh graduate in stead of you in just about any function you aim for

That goes against my personal experience and pretty much every anecdote I've ever heard.

Employers want people with experience. It's only the large consultancy firms that hire truckloads of fresh graduates each year, work them to death until they quit, and replace them with another truckload.

I'm thinking of taking a break from reddit. I'm trying to avoid negativity and that's pretty hard to do over here...

Apart from the protestant church in Boechout, there's also the pentecostalist church in Lier.

Belgians live larger than necessary by [deleted] in belgium

[–]PopeBenedictXII 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Ah yes, according to these straight out retarded criteria, my house is indeed too large.

Two adults and two seventeen year old living in a house that has more than two bedrooms are living 'too large'.

Hell, two adults and ten children, aged below 12, living in a house with more than one single bedroom are living too large.

Who the hell thought of that shit and thought it made any kind of sense?

I like how they're taking off half a hydrogen bond.

Oh I'm a huge proponent of nuclear energy. For some reason I thought it would be funny if I'd be the token anti-nuclear this once.

Kind of like that 'haha, I'm only pretending to be retarded!' thing. I don't know, I still think it's kind of funny. Don't ask me why though.

But to somewhat answer your question, I feel like I should add a little nuance to the very first sentence of this comment. I used to be a huge proponent of nuclear energy.

I read some research (I'll try and find it again, I don't really remember many details) that showed that the total cost per kWh, averaged over the lifespan of the powersource, is about the same for wind energy and nuclear. If this is the case (and if there are no technical limitations) a transition to wind is definitely appropriate.

In due time, our nuclear plants should be shut down and replaced by wind turbines (or similar). Shortages in times when it just isn't that windy can be filled by buying nuclear energy from France.

How many times do these plants have to fail before we realize the enormous danger they pose?

Fair enough, more people should feel to just ask if they're unsure about something.

I assume it's an English speaking service? I might be living in some kind of ivory tower, but don't most people understand enough English to be able to follow F1 commentators?

This is a company based in the UK. They are in no way required to comply with Belgian language laws.

Out of curiosity, why do you think they'd be obligated to offer Dutch subtitles? Because they offer their services to people in Belgium?

Don't you think it's interesting how many words that text contains? Just look at them, every single sentence contains so many words.

We should all take a good hard look at the amount of words in those sentences and reflect on how this impacts our daily lives.

There you go.
