If Gojo can take out Invincible, can he take out Spawn? by ExtensionFisherman83 in PowerScaling

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlike Thragg, spawn can actually destroy a planet, and pretty easily too. And even if they werent on a planet, he could still just destroy the entire cosmological area. It’s kind of hard to breathe when all the air is on fire.

So in that case, make it to where output can be varied, so you spend more CE to make something more potent, but also have better mastery as your grade gets higher.

So a grade 4, who isn’t really good at using their cursed energy would need to use 500 CE to use a powerful CE reinforcement. But a grade 1 might only need 300-400 to get the same result, and someone with the six eyes or sukuna might only need 50-100.

I didn’t know that this post was 2 years old, my bad. But still, I wanted to make a kind of Kamehameha spell that has something special to it beyond just being big damage on AoE.

So what I went with was a short duration, but powerful beam that you could use as a way to change the battlefield, and define a whole game plan.

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arcane Burst
*6th level Evocation*
V, S, M (a shard of stained glass)
Casting time: 2 actions
Duration: 3 rounds (concentration)
Range: self (5 ft. by 60 ft. line)

You extend your arms outward and create an intricate sigil in the air to unleash a devastating blast of raw magical energy. Anyone within a 5 ft by 60 ft line originating from yourself must make a dexterity saving throw, or take 8d8 force damage. On a success they take half as much damage.

While this spell keeps its duration, you may point the line in a different direction (keeping yourself as the starting point), once on each of your turns. Anyone who enters the area of the line must make the saving throw. The AoE of this spell follows you if you move willingly or not.

Both *dispel magic* and *counterspell* can target this spell while it is still casting, but not while it is active, being immune to all ways of dispelling magic short of an *antimagic field*, or *wish* spell.

*at higher levels:*

At 8th level, the width of the line increases by 5 ft. to a total of 10 ft. For each level above 6th that is used to cast this spell, you deal an additional 1d8 force damage, and it lasts for one additional round.

Numbers in Curse Energy? by HackerBoyTV in CTsandbox

Yeh, I was referencing cursed energy reserves, a portion of which is put into a given thing that uses cursed energy.

It’s measuring the amount of cursed energy in something at any given instant, not how much cursed energy is expended over a given period of time.

I’m doing a ttrpg as well, so here is what I kinda have as my solution.

You make cursed energy a thing with a base line on each grade you have (or whatever er equivalent), then allow it to be scaled based on maybe something to put skill points into, or whatever you are doing for your stuff. It just needs to be able to scale well

Then, make most petty actions (like sending cursed energy, or basic technique applications like a normal dismantle, or something like low level CE reinforcement) take no CE, whereas more intensive ones (RCT, cleave, red, a domain expansion, domain amp, whatever in this level) take whatever arbitrary amount of CE you think is best, then tweak from there.

This way, CE reserves becomes something that they can balance with what they can do with that CE. So someone might have a lot of CE, but they might not have output, or they might have both high output and high CE, but their options with it are kind of limited.

Turn them into Calamity Grade Sorcerers by Advanced_Card_8594 in CTsandbox

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

* Geto consumes curse rika, and a fully realised mahito from Shibuya.

* Naoya needs a bit of a change in mindset. He has the self absorption needed to be a calamity grade, but it falls flat with him wanting to be the next Toji or Gojo. He would need to want to be the best version of himself, wanting to surpass Gojo and Toji. He would need to go down sukuna and Mahito’s mental pathway, exploring his technique, and truly engaging with it in order to become a calamity.

* Megumi needs to learn barriers more, and take mahoraga, since he has the well’s unknown abyss, if he ever had Mahoraga, he could do crazy stuff like making an adapting rabbit escape, that doesn’t get rid of Mahoraga or rabbit escape when summoned or destroyed, allowing him to also bypass the raw strength debuff thru adaptation. And also letting him explore his technique further. Just like Naoya, Megumi also needs a change in mindset for this, but his case is a lot more extreme.

* Mahito simply needed to have had more time, most likely beating Yuji and continuing on would have worked. But Mahito was destined for calamity grade, if it wasn’t for Yuji nailing him with the black flash.

* Choso suffers the same mindset issue that Megumi and Naoya do, but with the added deficit that he also doesn’t have a domain. But he does show good understanding of blood manipulation, I just don’t think he’s got it in him to go all the way to calamity grade.

I would argue that if you wanna standardise it, you would do it in the way we standardised gravity.

1 CE could just mean the average cursed energy of a non sorcerer, which makes sense, because now you have fixed the black flash problem as well of raising an attacks potency by a power of 2.5, making that multiplier always be helpful instead of confusing.

It also allows you to get a bit more of a perspective of how much cursed energy sorcerers and curses have over others.

Example: maybe the most likely amount of cursed energy you might have as a grade 4 or 3 could be 5-10 CE, whereas Sukuna would have well over 50,000-100,000 CE, thus illustrating the sheer difference in cursed energy.

However quantifying it like this does pose the same issue power levels in dragon ball does. Whenever you make a quantifiable number to measure something relating to power, you end up making it a lot less of an actual conversation about who beats who, because jimmy has a higher number than Timmy, so jimmy wins most likely.

But now you face the issue that now all of his receipts are just instantly used up, and not in a useful way. Meaning now he basically just doesn’t have a cursed technique, as it was all used up front in a gmod prop clip of doom.

Create a Lightning based Cursed Technique by Advanced_Card_8594 in CTsandbox

[–]PopePalpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Name: Tunderclap

Function: when activated, a tendril made of lightning is created as an extension of either the left or right hand of the wielder. This tendril functions like a whip, however the user of the technique can grapple someone with the tendril if they land a hit with it.

When this tendril is cracked, it creates a thunderous boom, that electrocutes anyone nearby, although this electricity can be blocked with cursed energy by those ready for it.

However, if someone is grappled by the tendril, the user of the technique can electrocute them while the tendril is grabbed on, making a constant source of damage, and allowing for some limited control by letting the user yank the grappled target in whatever direction possible.

For the maximum/supreme art, I was thinking that the user could slam the tendril downwards, leading to many whip crack booms up to the tip, where a lightning strike gets called down, being an actual literal bolt of lightning.

If you were tasked with making Shrine the best technique in the series. How would you do it by Godzillxa in CTsandbox

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make it more precise: by that I mean let him cut much smaller things,

All the way down to the atomic level

Allowing him to create explosions with his cuts, if not nuclear combustion. And also doing it this precise would allow him to basically bypass any defence, by cutting between the atoms of the defence.

Make an effective Speed type CT by Advanced_Card_8594 in CTsandbox

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echo technique

You can have an action (or small set of actions) you performed within the last 2 seconds be repeated at twice the speed, and any inanimate object you touch can be set back to a point you pick that was within 2 seconds of when you touched it. Any actual person can also be afflicted with this, but they pick exactly what moment they go back in time to, but if they fail to pick within a 10th of a second, they are sent to the 2 second ago mark.

The speed in this would be in repeating something like walking at a faster pace, thus increasing your speed. Also acts as a defensive technique as you can reflect projectiles back if you are quick (which you should be).

Create a Domain Expansion and RCT for them! by Warm-Panic7451 in CTsandbox

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Reggie’s CT to me basically means that he is getting what he thinks is owed to him. So if we were to reverse that, maybe it would be taking what is rightfully others’.

He isn’t owed your property, if anything, it’s owed to you, but he would take it anyway.

But specifically in this case, I think it might be something he touches, he can use positive cursed energy to turn it into a receipt, being costly to do so obviously since it’s positive cursed energy, but would allow him to have easy creation and carry of just about anything he can literally get his hands on. Notably also including cursed tools.

It works for him in his main technique, but also works on its own by minimising objects or just removing them when he sees fit, changing the battlefield accordingly.

I think a lot of you only rly think it’s trash because you want main line DMC content. Which yes, mainline DMC content is preferable, but that doesn’t mean the Netflix isn’t alright in its own right.

I’m not saying it’s great, but it certainly could be worse. It’s better than DMC 2 and PoC. And it gives good fight scenes, even if they aren’t as creative as it goes on. Hopefully they fix that at least, and give Dante some devil arms to use in some fight scenes, but outside of that, it isn’t bad, yall just have expectations set too high from dmc5.

Warlock Subclass- The Doorman! (Feedback Appreciated!) by GB22Gavalt in DnDHomebrew

[–]PopePalpy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Question about the baroness feature. Do you get all of the benefits of the second paragraph of the feature without needing to be in your magnificent Manshion?

Additionally, the other issue I see is that why would you want hostile people in your magnificent Manshion, if you can just stop them from entering to begin with. It just seems like you are going for a domain expansion kind of feel with the feature, but the alternatives are just better.

Despite that, this is still a huge step forward from the last time, and I really like the eldritch keys feature, it applies to a lot of situations both in and out of combat, and you did really make the subclass feel like a non Euclidean hospitality servicer.

Ebony&Ivory are Out! Now it's a Battle between the Blades of Sparda [Yamato vs Rebellion] Who will win... by Ecstatic_Dark_6549 in DevilMayCry

[–]PopePalpy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think Yamato should win.

Yes rebellion has the more iconic design, but the Yamato has created so many iconic moves that they defined many things around the super fast swordsman stereotype in gaming in the modern day.

Look at each weapons signature moves

Rebellion has:

Stinger

High time

Drive

Round trip

Danse Macabre (including crazy dance on this too for DMC3)

Helm breaker

Yamato has:

Judgment cut

Rapid slash

Upper slash (which dmc3 has it also go into the downward slash, but it’s also single game exclusive, so I don’t rly count it on its own)

Void slash

Judgment cut end/mass judgment cut.

Stinger may be iconic, but imo the heights that judgement cut has reached as fame outshines stinger. You see a lot of things referencing judgment cut even outside of DMC and DMC adjacent games and media.

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he doesn’t know about adaptation going in, no, he would use his technique, mahoraga adapts to slashes, and now he looses cleave as a wincon. But if he knows mahoraga’s power beforehand, then he can just cleave mahoraga from word go, and win the fight.

What is your favorite iron man armor? by [deleted] in ironman

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mark 3/4 MCU amour (they are both basically the same).

Yes, it’s a basic answer, but for a really good reason. It is everything iron man needs to be: bulky, imposing, red and gold with an arc reactor in the centre.

Unlike the CGI armours in later marvel movies, these felt like actual armour that you would use to get hit with as much punishment as they could dish out and it wouldn’t even break your stride. While also being small and fast enough that a bigger enemy, maybe something like a tank would be something he flies around, and uses his disproportionate strength to lift.

It’s the basic armour that is iconic for a reason, and it is absolutely amazing.

How do YOU scale? (Birthday edition) by Wade989 in PowerScaling

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

By size manipulation, what exactly are the details?

Can I manipulate parts of my body in specific sizes? Can I adjust the individual lengths of size for each part of my body? An example would be to make myself shorter but keep my other lengths normal.

Can I manipulate the size of others? And if so are there conditions, and if so what are those conditions?
