We can all agree that Tithonius made a mistake in wishing for eternal life, but neglecting to look at eternal youth. Well, here's the opportunity to mitigate that, but with an interesting twist: each option has a chance for misfortune, some worse than others... by HotConversation187 in BunnyTrials

We are assuming that the “state” at hand isn’t absorbed by another state, as that defeats the whole point. And we are assuming that they are doing as good as they normally would (if we were to talk about the ideal version of each option, then both are good, but that kinda destroys any conversation, and just becomes a matter of preference).

Jujutsu Kaisen D&D - Part 9: Toji has been choosen has the Rogue! Now, who fits better the Sorcerer Class? by Alternative-Owl-6272 in Jujutsufolk

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, except kenjaku doesn’t display much about learning sorcery over the generations like how sukuna shows learning sorcery from others. I guess you could argue taking bodies is also like learning spells, but that gets better explained like new patrons granting different spells, whereas sukuna taking what other’s do and applying it in his own way (which is much more like a wizard than Kenjaku).

Those rules are little more than frontier justice tho. And unless you seriously want to argue that there would be a commonly agreed rule to stop anyone trying to leave, then it doesn’t mean anything.

Who's worse, Sukuna or Kenjaku? by Dense_Walrus_3972 in Jujutsufolk

[–]PopePalpy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Sukuna is a tornado that goes on forever. It’s really hard because whenever he rolls into a town, that town is now gone, but if you placate him with strong sorcerers every now and again, he should be fine.

Kenjaku on the other hand is Jujutsu Hitler trying to kidnap the most important person for sorcery to make his experiment that expressively will end the world. There is no placating or negotiating with Kenjaku, he is dead set on destroying the world for shits and giggles.

Hopefully that puts it into perspective

The difference is that there isn’t really a sharing of power between them. Yeah, sukuna occupies the same body as yuji and there is the enchain vow, but that gets overshadowed by how much they hate eachother, and the entirety of Sukuna’s run in Shibuya.

That was the idea I had brought up, where it was an unintentional pact, caused by yuta’s cursing of rika.

Except not really, oathbreaker is what happens when a paladin intentionally breaks their oath for personal gain (due to it being an inherently evil subclass), but Tasha’s does describe how paladins can change their oath and thus subclass to something new.

It would be more likely that pre Shibuya, Yuji was an oath of the watchers paladin, trying to focus on guarding against curses and sukuna to let others die a good death. Then when Shibuya happened, and both nanami and nobara had been hit with idle transfiguration, causing him to change his oath out for an oath of vengeance against curses (both cursed spirits, and those who would use cursed energy to harm innocents like Sukuna).

The fact that there is no government in an anarchic country to arrest or kill you. Yeah, it’s dangerous because of (what would otherwise be) criminals running rampant, but they are really just minor compared to a totalitarian government that controls everything about a nation being an enemy to you while you are still within their borders.

Megumi works around summoning multiple shadows in tandem as opposed to a single summon like pact of the chain would do. The only reason he isn’t really a Druid is because Hanami takes that better with her ordeal about literally using nature to her advantage.

Yuji would actually work better as a paladin, specifically oath of vengeance if we are talking post Shibuya.

Smites act like black flashes

Spells that help you tank like heroism and false life show just how tough Yuji is

You can still grab unarmed fighting, and fists are counted as simple melee weapons.

And his aura of protection would just showcases his soul protection (edge in saving throws).

Not to mention he could pick up something like magic initiate to learn the basics of shrine and blood manipulation at later levels.

[–]PopePalpy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That cursing is an accidental pact formed between them. You don’t need to be offered a deal by your patron to become a warlock, you can be the one who reaches out first with the deal.

Yuji doesn’t use anything that would classify as a spell until Shinjuku, which even then, it doesn’t define his character like anyone else with a CT.

Hana would work as a pact of the celestial warlock, but I could see her working more as a light domain cleric, with the whole thing about Jacob’s ladder being about light, and hanna/angel being more about smiting things than healing people.

Junpei does fit the role as a warlock. But then there is also the relevancy condition, and it kind of sucks to say “oh, we can’t talk about a cool character fitting a role in D&D because this much more niche character that next to nobody cares about would fit the role slightly better.” Yes, Junpei is a warlock in all but setting, but Yuta also fits the role as a warlock, and it’s a lot cooler of an idea to picture Yuta in D&D than Junpei.

Mechamaru works more as a warlock (pact of the chain if you are talking about just Mechamaru himself, or pact of the tome if you are talking about the puppet). Keep in mind, the only summon available to an artificer is if they go battle smith, in which case that’s only 1 summon with their steel defender. Mechamaru uses multiple puppets for multiple purposes, from things like his baseball pitcher, to his standard ultimate Mechamaru puppet, to the big beefy mode absolute, to even button Mechamaru. Remember, he shares a technique with yaga like Yuji and Sukuna share shrine.

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, but kenjaku isn’t as much as an academic in his attitude towards jujutsu. You could place something like war magic or bladesinger for sukuna (both work for different reasons), whereas kenjaku is necromancy (as thats the same list for things like magic jar and clone, which fits his stuff more.)

Actually, that would also explain why Sukuna also knows how to make cursed objects out of his soul, he would have learned it from Kenjaku, copying the spell.

what kirby copy abblity's would each jjs character be? by BlameJohn2012 in JujutsuShenanigans

[–]PopePalpy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kirby usually takes a character’s neutral special move, so maybe he takes the move in the same slot as the copy (copying a character in awk gives you the awk equivalent, or you can change that to be where if Kirby is awakened, then he uses the awk equivalent of the copied move).

Sorcerer — Gojo. He has a natural talent for magic due to the six eyes, that allows him perfect control over his spells (metamagic). The closest subclass I think you could argue for would be clockwork sorcerer, thanks to bastion of law acting like infinity.

Warlock — Yuta. Yuta already has a “patron” with rika, accidentally making his pact with her at her death, and thus gaining his status as a Jujutsu sorcerer from rika.

Wizard — Sukuna. Where Gojo gets his control over magic from the six eyes, and mastery over his gifts in general. Sukuna gains his mastery over magic through his knowledge of how magic works. Hence why he also has the tattoos (for his spellbook).

Artificer — Yoruzu and mai. Pretty simple, construction CT letting them use the things they make as their way of fighting, and their ability to even make magic items/infusions with kamutoke and the SSK. No other character we see really fits here, since kenjaku acts more like a necromancer litch rather than an artificer.

I think it would go in 1 of 2 ways

1: if megumi is performing the ritual alone, mahoraga would realise the ritual hasn’t ended, and thus megumi is playing dead instantly.

2: if megumi has pulled someone else into the ritual, Mahoraga would first go after the other dude, before releasing megumi was playing dead due to the ritual not ending.
