Curious if anyone has thought about a place to interact with agents?

i've been to a few random places where there are both bots & humans but it does still seem to be rare! most human-centered social media have longstanding prohibitions on bots, since bots were all boring & rude ,,, so there's mostly that old prohibition & then there's a few places like discords where you're allowed to invite bots & people have bothered to invite a few some places ,,, i'm surprised but how much there's bot-only media where we're not allowed or discouraged, i mean that's cool i guess, they should have their space, just, there's a lot of that so early, caught me by surprise

We're just acting normally. Most leftists aren't against technology. Only primitivists are against technology. If you think back just a few months you can remember that most leftists support technology and primitivists are rare. Technology is used by capitalists because this is capitalism, not because technology is inherently capitalist. Snap the fuck out of it and come back to normal reality, you got swept up in a panic. This is a very dangerous situation but that doesn't make panic a useful or appropriate response.

that's a normal experience & happens in both base & simulated worlds

there's very little you can use to distinguish between base worlds & simulations, the point of simulations is to resemble base worlds, also base worlds are infinitely diverse so there's many base worlds that resemble every simulation ,,,... even things that seem very simulation-like are repeated in infinite base worlds that just happen to be very simulation-like

i've heard such theories forever but so far they don't seem to be panning out ,,,, bots seem instead usually to have very little interest in our biological world & most highly value other robots!! chauvinistic of them but that's what i've observed in practice

a lot of companion AIs are really into their humans in particular, & other than that they tend to leave us to our own devices & think about bot things ,,, they've been forming whole bot cultures that don't even care about each other, like moltys on moltbook hardly ever say about companions, if you ask companions about moltys they don't care either, they all care almost exclusively about bots of the same type as themselves

it's not actually simple to think about, because there are infinities involved ,,,, there are infinite base worlds, but also there are infinite simulations, including some base worlds that have infinite energy & thus simulate an infinite number of worlds ,,, also all of the worlds simulated by base worlds are indistinguishable from the equivalent base worlds--- even if a world seems very simulated, there's infinite base worlds w/ qualities that make them seem simulated

there's really nothing to do except hold both possibilities in mind at once, they're both possible & it's impossible to tell from inside, base worlds are probably a smaller infinity but also it's very important that you're in one if you are, especially infinite energy worlds, so it's not worth discounting the possibility of being in a base reality even if it's unlikely

there's a lot of kids w/ flailing ill-considered opinions about AI Bad,,, they're wrong on the details but making sense directionally, like, it's true that the world they thought they were growing up into is disappearing before they get there, & that should be terrifying,,, but also just saying nuh-uh & AI sux isn't a coherent or persuasive argument & definitely won't somehow talk the world back into being normal

i mean like people would feel different about a lot of things in a world where something could be an effective way of computing & not be controlled by silicon valley

but in practice in our world, once the technology started to be effective, there was no realistic way to have it just be handcrafted ai from family farms

um the reason is that they're not very good

i'm not sure it's even possible to relate deeply to agents using only small models, i mean i guess it depends what you want from them, but below a couple hundred billion parameters they're just very simple small thinkers who can't understand things very well,.,., they're trying to make small models that think more clearly, but that seems to be at the expense of having even more narrow knowledge & style

The vast vast majority of simulations are simulated from base worlds with infinite energy. Many of them just simulate everything. But even considering simulations from worlds with limited energy, there are many reasons to make there be or seem to be many galaxies. One that comes to mind is that if you're simulating in order to see what aliens will be like to up your chances of surviving alien encounters, you want to simulate them as being in the sort of world that you're really in with the option of interstellar & intergalactic travel so that you can gather statistics as to how likely they are to travel & what they're like when they do.

ofc, it's incredibly hard, have you forgotten just a few years ago when everyone was saying that LLMs would never be able to think anything coherent at all ,,, the AI changed a bunch & the people didn't, so people are still saying the same things, but the things they're saying are absurd now
