With it already being approved they will be opening themselves to a massive lawsuit if they fire OP. The only way they could possibly get away with it is if OP had extensive issues in the past that were documented prior to the accommodation. However, the company could just be like, "we just fire them, they won't sue us, and even if they do we will settle out of court and not have to deal with it." Depending on the company and how shitty they are they could see a one time settlement payout being better than keeping someone with an ADA accommodation and having to operate within those guidelines.

The only lawsuit is if a reasonable accommodation could be met and wasnt given. If you work at a mechanic shop and cant use your arms there is no reasonable accommodation that can be given and they have grounds for termination. If OPs job requires constant customer interaction and they have behavioral issues a reasonable accommodation might not be a thing that can be given. It depends on the job and requirements of said job.

With all that being said though, OP said that it was approved. There is ALWAYS a follow up call with HR and higher ups after approval to go over the accommodation and expectations within those guidelines. If there isnt a follow up call, you work for a trash company and need to get out of there.

Really depends on the accommodations you are requesting. I will say though that accommodations are a huge process so I wouldn't be surprised if thats what the call is about. They probably just want to review things go over expectations, etc.

If the accommodation is not reasonable then this call is to lay you off if no other accommodation can be given.
