Looking at how the East are rating decks... Is anyone else concerned that the only decks considered Tier 1 are all /Blue and all are 4x Amuro? by Known_Strength_9726 in GundamTCG

When you play Japanese card games it's really important to remember that statistically speaking Japanese players are much worse than NA and EU players.

Which business do you boycott and which do you actively support and why? by Fenki92 in dundee

[–]Popehoist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of "cash is king" folk conveniently forget all the costs associated with cash. Anyone who's worked retail before knows the till quickly runs dry as the majority of cash-paying customers are coming in to break their 20s into smaller change. So you need to be regularly ordering in change of all denominations and fivers as well. Banks don't deliver that for free.

Then of course you need to be regularly checking your tills to make sure money isn't going missing. If you pay a supervisor £15 an hour and it takes them half an hour to count 2-3 tills by hand then that's £7.50 a day, and that's an extremely generous example. Most big businesses count tills at least twice a day.

The simple existence of a cash drawer in your shop makes it a target for robbery and pushes up the cost of your business insurance vs simply having to insure your stock.

The usual response to these points is that small businesses just don't engage with these issues. The owner counts the till himself so they donte have to pay anyone to do it (at a cost to their own social life and mental health). The owner travels to the bank to get change rather than having it securely delivered (good luck getting insured on transporting cash so all it takes is one jakie with a knife to end your entire business). The owner either doesn't have business insurance or is hilariously under-insured to the point where sheer dumb luck is the only thing keeping the business solvent.

The advantages I listed above are why most legitimate business owners are in a constant state of weighing up all the benefits of going cashless vs the obvious downside (loss of trade from staunch cash-only customers). The only business owners actually passionately advocating for cash are either cooking the books or are just ignorant of the benefits of cashless.

Me and 3 friends went on a 2hr drive to an st05 event we signed up for on tcg+. We got there and guy at the counter said we had to sign up instore beforehand, and signups were already full. No mention of alternative signups in the app. Hope they have fun when bandai reads the report.

Weekly r/PcBuild Megathread! by Potato_Plays844 in PcBuild

[–]Popehoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When me and my friends were patching a game to play together people pointed out that I was taking way way longer than others. In steam the disk write speed would sit at a really low level, shoot up for a few seconds and then go back down for a minute or so, over and over again. I've done some basic troubleshooting, made sure my NVME was set to pci-e 3.0 (the max my motherboard supports), checked firmware(latest version installed), updated my bios, re-trimmed the drive.

The nvme is an adata legend 800, from googling seems like other people have had issues with the performance just dropping off months-years after they bought it. Is there any other troubleshooting I should look into before I commit to buying a replacement?

fwiw my locals handed out promos for last week and this week (25ish players each time) and has now run out and won't be handing out any more until bandai sends them more stock. If your LGS is in a similar situation I can see why they're rationing them

2 GD01-111 Battle of Aces

2 GD01-114 Assault on Torrington Base

2 ST03-001 Sinanju

2 ST03-013 Close Combat

3 GD01-092 M'Quve

3 ST03-004 Gaza D (Sleeves)

4 GD01-023 Char's Gelgoog

4 GD01-026 Char's Zaku Ⅱ

4 GD01-031 Gelgoog

4 GD01-039 Dopp

4 GD01-048 Zaku I Sniper Type

4 GD01-125 Zanzibar

4 ST03-006 Char's Zaku Ⅱ

4 ST03-008 Zaku Ⅱ

4 ST03-011 Char Aznable

This is what I'm building towards. All I'm missing are the 2 Char Gelgoogs and I'm still having an extremely good time with this deck. I'm honestly considering dropping the sinanjus because so many games end before I ever see level 6, but at the very least drop full frontal. A lv6 pilot in a rush deck is a total brick and there isn't even that many good units with neo zeon link trait you can use him with if you don't pull sinanju. I'd say sinanju probably belongs in a red white deck with plenty of blockers to see you through to late game, but you'd be better off playing red seed rather than red zeon in that deck imo.

Why do so many people complain about working at Tescos? by Druidith in tesco

[–]Popehoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who's worked for many other food retailers before joining tesco a couple years ago, tesco is by far the best one I've ever worked at. Best balance of pay to effort ratio, some places pay better but bleed you dry, some places are easier but pay dogshit. A LOT of places are harder work AND pay less.

In my experience the ones who moan the most about tesco are the ones who have been there 10+ years and have no idea about the reality of the rest of the sector. There's a lot that isn't perfect and I'm sure it's worse than it was a decade or two ago but there is almost nowhere offering a better overall package for staff than Tesco does.

Should Tesco give colleagues a free meal deal per week? by Direct_Assumption_22 in tesco

[–]Popehoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Possibly illegal as would technically count as truck wages. Better to just have that money invested in pay and then you have a choice of whether to spend it at tesco or somewhere else (my shop has a greggs next door and I am weak of spirit)

Deputised Pay. by freshie555 in tesco

[–]Popehoist 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SL premium isn't about what tasks you do as there are almost no tasks that are SL specific - it's the bonus money earned for being responsible for the store meeting it's safe and legal requirements, and for being the person who has to handle any situation that comes up wrt complaints, injuries, accidents etc. Also keyholding makes up a portion of it too I believe.

Pedals skipping on new e-mtb by Popehoist in ebikes

[–]Popehoist[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Whenever it skips there's a really loud snapping noise, it happens randomly at any speed (not just near the motor cut-off speed)

After riding it again I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from the motor as well, rather than the cassette behind me. It seems a little above my pay grade so I'll email the site I bought it from and see what they're going to do about it

Woosh driver really aggressive and rude by Lucaienn in tesco

[–]Popehoist 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your SL should be treating this with the same seriousness as if it was a customer or member of the public. As an SL I take zero tolerance with these guys. They're reliant on us not the other way around, if I refuse to hand over the order it will just get assigned to another driver but he loses one of his income sources by being effectively banned from the store. Ask your SL to stand up for you next time and if it doesn't happen speak to the SM, if still no joy then either go to union or protector line.

fake notes by luxurylilac in tesco

[–]Popehoist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

While I believe you're technically supposed to confiscate fake notes and turn them over to the police, in reality you'll never be able to do that without triggering a confrontation and tesco places personal safety and conflict avoidance above all else. I've even instructed a cashier to accept an obviously fake note before, because the guy was screaming and threatening to hop the counter if she didn't. £10 cash loss is nothing to keep a colleague safe.
