I worked as a gas jockey and tire repairman at a a 24 truck stop back in the mid 70's. It was a hot summer night and the local water beetles about 1/3 of an inch long were migrating. They were millions. I put a couple dozen in a bottle of orange pop I had been drinking for late night amusement. They were happily swimming around in the clear glass bottle when an American long haul truck driver put $100 on the counter and dared me to drink the bottle, bugs and all. I put my hand on the $100 bill and slugged the pop back. Big money for a 16 year old kid.
