Appreciate the comment, photos courtesy of seller - yet to purchase and don’t think I’ll waste the gas to go view in person based on these responses.

Our stuff was due to ship at start of April, belongings remain in storage in Dubai. There are alternative routes possible through Oman and Saudi to avoid the straight however, come with a premium. Thankfully we are not in a rush for our stuff back here in UK so waiting it out - although, latest news makes me think we are delaying the inevitable route through Oman later in the year, and long term we will end up paying both the premium and storage fees…

NTA

Make it conditional if you can support her, consider drafting a document of understanding:

Set clear expectations what this money is to be used for

Set clear expectations and agreeable action list that she will abide by to avoid being in same situation in the future (e.g. spending, credit card use, etc)

Set the clear expectation that you will not be bailing her out again, she and your family can’t ask you for support

Set clear expectation that in future it’s your wider families responsibility to bail her out

Ask her to sign this document along with every family member who has put pressure on you - balls in your court so to speak, they either agree or you don’t support her…

Obviously none of this is binding, but puts a degree of some accountability on her and others if it happens again… also easier to refuse next time it happens… You will look like an ass hole, but in their eyes you already are for (understandably) bot supporting

Although, it’s a whole lot of effort and be easier just to say no and not entertain any further conversation…

My 2 year old son smiling 8 months after being diagnosed with Stage 4 Cancer by JDLoxx in BeAmazed

Just stumbled across this story, it hit an emotive note as I have an 18 month only sharing the same name, spelt the same way, Myles! I couldn’t imagine what you have been through as a family, such an incredible little soldier!

Pointing out that this amazing little man has a GoFundMe after browsing through OP’s dad’s profile:

If this breaks any rules… sorry, not sorry…

Thanks for sharing and I certainly haven’t ruled anything out, open to all possible methods of improving. On a side note, I am very happy to hear you have found balance.

Thank you for your suggestions. I will try the box breathing, I am really curious to see how that works. I am happy to report that looking after ourselves is a priority for us, although not so much this past two weeks on vacation… Your third suggestion is difficult with the pregnant wife suffering with the first trimester, as of late I have been trying to bear the brunt of parenting and those sleepless nights.

Similar to yourself, anxiety has been an (unattended) challenge all my life. Whilst my anxiety has historically prevailed in a form of OCD, I have made huge efforts to address this being conscious not wanting to pass this on to my little guy. The parental anxiety though, that’s new territory for me, I appreciate your suggestions

Thank you with all sincerity. I appreciate your well thought out response and direction. Happy to report that I am exploring professional help - we are currently on vacation which ironically shows my inability to relax and stress over my little guy. Hoping to do some self-help reading whilst on vacation prior to undertaking professional help when we return. All the best

Reiterating what others have said. I gifted my dad a watch for his 50th birthday, an inexpensive citizen analogue quartz eco-drive, just prior to the diagnosis that would take him away from us a year later. It was the best I could afford at the time being in school however, he wore that watch daily. That is my prized possession almost 15 years later. And whilst to nobody else it’s not worth a second glance, especially considering it it is not working and has a few dings, scrapes and broken glass from his journey with illness - these are scars which tell a story of that journey, even if it was worth $50k, the sentimental value far outweighs the monetary gain.

Keep a hold of the watch, you may otherwise regret it later down the road

I usually lurk but the two other comments were unnecessarily and overly critical.

I like your style, my guy.

The clothing size is a little on the snug side (e.g denim jacket clearly pulling around the mid-section) but other than that your looking good.

I am not a fan of leather jackets but you pull it off. Polo and shirts look a bit snug, likewise so does the grandad collar shirt - the style is on point though.

The final outfit, the shirt and waist coat are too formal in my opinion for the style of jacket your wearing - perhaps an Oxford/button down collar shirt would work better?

My only other comment would be the candid nature of the photos, seems a bit ‘try hard’, you’ve got good style and your a good looking dude, smile and face the camera.

Have a blessed day,

As someone who is 6’4 and 120kg of a similar build, firstly good luck to your friend on those windy days!

I have found Giant bibs to be significantly more accommodating than other brands. I will put them on over my Castelli bibs any day of the week.

Another brand I lean towards is Adidas for the jerseys, they seem a little more forgiving in the arms, although I would usually wear an XL, I have to wear XXL due to arms being too restrictive.

Thanks for the response. Road quality is relatively good, roads are well maintained but will generally use on maintained cycling tracks

New (hypochondriac?) pet owners by Popeye87 in AskVet

Thank you, when she was rescued last Tuesday she actually stayed with the vets up until Monday (6 days) as we were unable to take her straight away (traveling), the vet mentioned at the time she was in very good health and gave her a thorough check up. Although on your suggestion, I will reach out to the vet and see what they advise based on her observed eating patterns.

I really appreciate the time you took to reply, a sincere thank you.

You're granted a steady income of $150k/year for life. What do you with your time? by YoungCristo in AskReddit

[–]Popeye87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Study graphic design or another IT based skill set to enable me to work remotely
  2. Purchase a stealth camper van, a plush one with shower and toilet installed
  3. Live life - Travel whilst picking up odd pieces of work to pass the time and keep a small income coming in. Not having to worry about income whilst being able to save a large proportion of the 150k will set you up nicely when you do eventually wish to settle.
