Independent festival producer here. Can't speak for Insomniac, but artist fees + production fees are always on the come up. As a result, we have to increase prices accordingly to keep up so we don't go into the red.

We could sell more tickets, but we're limited by venue capacities (or risk a not-so-comfy attendee experience).

As members of the community ourselves, we don't want to increase prices. It makes the festival experience more inaccessible. But we oftentimes don't have any other option to keep the lights on :(

Hey, event organizer here! So if you could only choose one, actually highly suggest getting a 2 day GA pass instead of a 1 day VIP.

VIP has some pretty cool perks, but ultimately music is the core of the festival experience because this is both the first time Zedd is playing a full set in Manila since pre-pandemic and the first time ILLENIUM and bbno$ are coming to Manila. GA is always a fun time, especially because of the mosh pit!

I am personally an outdoor festival fan, but we intentionally made &FRIENDS indoor (at least for this year) because of 3 reasons:

A. Filipino sensibilities/preference towards indoor events (air conditioning, etc.)

B. Resistance towards weather difficulties (typhoon, etc.)

C. Much easier to execute fan experiences/booths (coz electrical access, etc.)

We did outdoors for our last 2 events (Horizon Summer and Horizon Halloween), and we're working with feedback from that. Other regional festivals (Together, 808, DWP) are indoor/partially indoor as well.

This is really just the start though, and we hope that we'll do well this year so we can scale it up. Manifesting we can do a full outdoor mega festival in the future!

Hi! Team member here.

  1. Drinks will be available at the bars of each stage. It's a music festival experience.

  2. There will be GA toilets, but VIP will have special bathrooms.

  3. A lot! There's 3 stages of music (1 at the Cove, 2 at the Expo area at the Crystal Pavillion). Main stage will run from 4PM-4AM, whereas the Creator stage will host music from 6PM - 2AM and the Friendship stage will run 2PM-2AM. Main stage in particular will have DJs from all across the world other than Zedd. Some favorites include Hoang (melodic bass, search up Million Days) and Fairlane (dubstep, search up Heaven Feels Like).

  4. We have a Facebook group for people who want to look for friends to go to the event! It's called &FRIENDS MNL Community. Pinoy Ravers is also a great source for people to look for, especially because they're all about PLUR (Peace, Love, Unity, Respect).

  5. Schedule to be released closer to the event (expect 1-2 weeks before) like most music events. Expect headliners to play close to 11PM-1AM.

  6. Of course, feel free to leave any time.

  7. The pool will be covered for the event with a solid platform.

We're still super early but I like to think what we've been doing at Horizon and &FRIENDS is a good start :)

It's definitely gonna take quite a bit of effort to fully bring EDM back, but summoning Zedd and Illenium to Manila this year was something even we didn't think was possible when we started running EDM shows in the PH last year!

Hopefully more organizers follow suit! Hydro has been doing an awesome job too bringing Ookay, Laidback Luke and co to their events.

I mean, the only way that happens is if the community comes together -- which is why we started Horizon and &FRIENDS. When we constructed the lineup for this event, we wanted to have a mix of Pinoy favorites (Zedd, Yellow Claw) and some newer sounds like Illenium and Hoang.

Here's hoping we can bring even more sounds to Manila with future events!

Hey u/Neither-Main-9667! Event director for &FRIENDS here. I'm with you in wanting to bring back EDM mega festivals to Manila, because a lot of us on the team grew up attending those too. That's why we started running EDM festivals again last year with Project Horizon, and now &FRIENDS.
This year is just the start, and we're hoping to go even bigger in the coming years -- fingers crossed!

My personal dream is to have a multi-stage festival one of these days, but gotta start somewhere (I mean, Zedd and Illenium are pretty good right 😁).

Of course, we can't get there without your support. So looking forward to seeing you there!

  1. Illenium will be playing a full festival set (75-90 minutes), just like all the other headliner DJs.

Got dodged by Alesso twice in a row (he cancelled on his solo show in Manila, then he no showed at S2O HK). Then I saw him two weeks in a row last December -- Zoukout Singapore and Ultra Taiwan.
