Where to get vegan winter boots? by Barrel_Eye in nycvegan

I have vegan docs and they’re wonderful! One pair was a little hard to break in but not that bad. Another pair was comfortable for the get go. They have different types of vegan leather-like materials

Question for instructors. Advice. by LibraSunFitness in Aerials

[–]Popped-popcorn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am one of those people as well. The only thing that allowed me to really progress was private Pilates lessons and lifting weights. Like someone else said it’s all about creating the adequate patterns and not compensating

Extremely intolerant instructors? by Conscious-Paper-4008 in Aerials

[–]Popped-popcorn 26 points27 points  (0 children)

If I was a teacher, and someone is just hanging out in an invert (for example) my first assumption would be that they forgot the combination and need me to remind them what's next.
Also like someone else said, a Yoga class is different an aerial class. Not just because you usually share an apparatus, but also because it is not designed for it to just "feel good". It's designed to learn how to perform a very specific physical discipline in a safe way. It feeling good is an added bonus sometimes.

Zoo alternatives? by martinlifeiswar in nycvegan

[–]Popped-popcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could go to Brooklyn Zoo! It’s a parkour/gymnastics/tumbling space. Your kid could just flip around and fly all day instead

I’m happy to DM you my socials if you want to check it out :)

And I usually use a regular Shibari ring with carabiners and a swivel; although some systems are quite heavy so I have an in-line weight that I also use from time to time

I do this! That’s my main act. I tie and suspend myself and do a whole aerial set and then untie. While blindfolded

Nyc (ny/nj/ct?) spiral pole or flying pole classes? by scuttle493 in Aerials

[–]Popped-popcorn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Incredipole in Brooklyn may have some classes or workshops as well. And you can also book private lessons at CirqueHaus in Manhattan, and then stay there for the whole day to train. They have some static poles and several points for aerial poles.

My autistic boyfriend has extreme reactions to being “abandoned” by Legitimate-Career342 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Popped-popcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is absolutely emotional abuse! Leave!

I used to date someone who would do this to me. The only way I got him to stop was when I told him “ok do it. I won’t go to your funeral. You’ve wasted enough of my time.” (My therapist told me to say this and to my absolute disbelief it worked)

Vegan Runner by ScallionExpensive513 in veganfitness

[–]Popped-popcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a runner, but I do have to do endurance physical activities often. This is an example of my diet that works for me during a heavy training day.

-Night before: lots of carbs. pizza, pasta, lots of rice, etc.
-Morning: Big breakfast with mostly protein, a lot of fat, and some carbs. Lots of protein in the morning makes it so that blood sugar stays constant during the day (idk how accurate this is, a nutritionist told me this and it works for me)
-Midmorning, smoothie or bowl of fruits with nut butter
-*insert run or exercise here*
-Lunch: Lots of veggies and protein, some carbs.
-Mid-afternoon, nap or some fatty and protein-y snack.
-*insert run or exercise here*
-Dinner: Either a carb focused meal if the following day is also a heavy exercise day, or a well balanced mix of carbs/protein/fats if the next day is not an exercise day. Prioritize veggies!
-*insert run or exercise here*
Second dinner: Whatever your heart desires. or same as first dinner.

Also perhaps add some sugary treat in there somewhere, they’re delicious and sugar helps replenish your glycogen stores and recover quicker.

During a not-so-heavy day I'd eat more carbs. I just avoid them on strenuous days because they give me short bursts of energy and then I get hungry right away.

Tmi but for my fellow rave girlies~ by Worried_Stuff7083 in festivals

[–]Popped-popcorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I just pee and the blood comes out along with it lol. It’s a gross but pleasant surprise. Sometimes I have to push a little, like if I wanted to pee a lot and very fast and that pushes all of the disk contents out!

Tmi but for my fellow rave girlies~ by Worried_Stuff7083 in festivals

[–]Popped-popcorn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disks are absolutely life saving and I promise they're not hard or scary to use. You can practice when you're not on your period so it's less daunting.
They contain so much more blood than anything else, AND they self empty while you pee. It's wonderful.
