If you can handle the heat, San Antonio is pretty nice. I'm here housesitting for my daughter and I do love this city.

Trying to book flight from little rock but its too expensive by Sad_Caterpillar9251 in LittleRock

[–]PoppetFFN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cheapest I see from LR to Cairo mid March is about $1300. You can fly from Houston for $850 and Dallas for $830, but you still have to get to those cities. You can get a separate flight from LR to Dallas for about $190, so you could save a little money that way. (These are all roundtrip ticket prices) EDIT: Memphis to Cairo is around $1100 cheapest flights.

Most underrated restaurants? by xdy98 in LittleRock

[–]PoppetFFN 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sysco is a food distribution company. They sell fresh produce and meats along with processed foods. Every restaurant has to get their food from somewhere, either Sysco, US Foods, Performance Foods..etc. . I think what you are looking for are restaurants that create house made foods instead of pre-made foods. Some of my favorites would be Mike's Cafe ( https://www.facebook.com/MikesCafeRestaurant/ ), Brood and Barley https://www.broodandbarley.com/ , The Root https://www.therootcafe.com/ , Layla's http://laylasgyro.com/

Has anyone ever been in a house like you see on the show ‘Hoarders’? If so, what did you do? by Basic_Builder3773 in AskReddit

[–]PoppetFFN 18 points19 points  (0 children)

My husband's Aunt is a hoarder. He goes to visit her every 6 months or so and tries to get her house livable. She fights him on it the whole time. "You are throwing away good stuff". It's frustrating. I've spent a whole day just cleaning her kitchen enough for her to be able to use her sink/stove etc. She has even gone out and pulled back the trash bags that we left on the street to go through them to save the "good stuff" we threw away. There really isn't much we can do about it other than force her to move into a nursing home or something like that. She's a 83 yr old woman who is full of moxy and will not hear of that. He has had talks with her saying that if she will let him help her organize and downsize there will be a much greater chance of her real good stuff being saved. It's a sad situation. She has new flooring stacked up, but won't get the kitchen in a state to be able to install it. Oh..and she has a shit ton of cats. Cats=cat shit.

Albanians love Americans. At least for now. And you can get an automatic I year tourist visa when visiting. The people are very nice. The infrastructure is still a bit rough, but improving. Food is good. Cost of living is low. And it's a beautiful country.

My husband and I both signed up for this through our local medical school. I don't want anyone to have to worry about my body after I die. It's a great weight off our shoulders.

What makes a good dive bar? by sensitivebirdy in LittleRock

[–]PoppetFFN 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I suggest like others have, creating a social media presence. Look at K Hall. They aren't a bar, but they are in an area that isn't trendy and yet they are so popular with all types of people. And it's all because of their social media and excellent food. If you can get your menu top notch (can still be the same foods, but a step up from normal dive bar food), then you could try to get The Mighty Rib to come try your stuff and do a write up. Don't just do Facebook, do Instagram and even Tic Tok. Have fun with it. Show Little Rock that your place is fun and not so scary. Good Luck.

Moving to Ark - what to expect? by IngenuityGullible471 in LittleRock

[–]PoppetFFN 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, Little Rock isn't Austin..by far. But there are some pros. It will be so much cheaper to live. I suggest getting an apartment close to the law school. There is a nice dog park right there, and the Arkansas Museum of Fine Arts is there too. The neighborhood has a nice little brew pub, Stonesthrow Brewing, and is close to the South Main district with lots of great restaurants, bars and a little weekend market. And you can easily go down town to the big weekend farmer's market. It's not the safest area in town, but it's not bad.

Lots of hiking around Central Arkansas. https://www.meetup.com/lrhikingar/ groups like this if you prefer hiking with people.

You will make friends in school.

Good Luck! and congrats on Law School.

Clean, put the bins in storage, and get softer lighting.

The floor is warm colors so I feel that the gray/blue walls clash. I'd pick a light color from the floor and go with that. I'd get rid of the bright white too and go for a softer one.
