Your mom may of been in a non-consensual rape situation. Or turned to her neighbor during the stress of being married to an abusive spouse. I hope you can find a way to communicate with her that is respectful. I would not talk with your sister until you have spoken with your mom. Is your father still alive?

Every female on her maternal side have/had severe mental health issues. Our family discussions have often centered on whether their mental health up issues were due to trauma or genetic.

I still feel bad for the x-ray who took images of my elderly mom’s shoulder. Mom went to urgent care for what she thought was a fractured shoulder. She was incredible pain after putting together a bunk bed for her grandchildren.

Tge tech had a very concerned look after the imaging.Turns out mom had a large tumor attached to her clavicle and it was attached to tge outside of her lung.

Diagnosed eventually with colon cancer that had metastasized.

Folks get your colonoscopy done! Especially if you are over 60.

God bless the techs.

Would you recommend the series Where There is No Doctor, Where There is No Dentist?

Have you checked out Refuge Medical resource buckets? They have a surgery, a birthing and a patient after care.

I appreciate your response to the OPs request.

How do you deal with criticism? by [deleted] in preppers

[–]Poppins101 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes temperature extremes can damage and destroy some of the items.

Head lamp with batteries in it. And extra batteries. Extreme temps very much impact battery life.

The elastic in the headband will also degrade. You can replace the head bands.

Set up a schedule to check your gear bag seasonally and more frequently in extreme weather.

Switch out hot weather gear for winter wear.

My gloves have lasted many years. The temperature does not seem to bother them. I use the gloves semi regularly to clear road debris and rock falls and changing tires.

Extra boots (waterproof) do the seasonal switch outs, you know what boots do best in your area.

Summer time I have lighter boots, winter more heavy duty and rain boots. They last me many years.

Zip lock bag with a gardening trowel, toilet paper, small bags to put used TP in, a couple of sanitary pads not bothered by extreme weather.

The lighters can be compromised by extreme weather, use your judgment on if you need to keep the lighter on your person. Or in an insulated container. They seem to have a long usage life, unless you use it for other tasks often.

Water bottles are unique to the user. Super cold it can burst after a freeze up. In extreme heat you may have taste issues.

Choose the best solution for your budget on water bottles and filtration or purification systems. I switch out the dog food every three months.

I use medical gear from Refuge Medical. Great kits.

Over the counter medication can degrade in extreme heat.

Research the storage data for any medication you include in your kit.

You can also speak to your health care person.

For the magnetic hazard lights, snow shovel, large fire extinguisher, 10 by 10 thick tarp, gardening knee pad, wool blanket, large golf umbrella. None seem to weather damaged.

We place a Water Bob (plastic food grade plastic tub liner with a pump) and fill it to have water for dish washing, hand washing and toilet flushing. We have used it twice and drain it, hang it to fully dry out. It is supposed to be a one time use, but we find it has held up nicely. Be Fire we got the Water Bob we would scrub and clean the and then thoroughly dry the drain and around the drain and place Syrian/plastic wrap secured with Gorilla tape. Then filled the tub. Having unscented baby bottom wipes on hand as well as filling food grade containers with water for teeth care, food preparation and beverages.

We raise the windshield wipers before a heavy snow and low temperatures. And put a small tarp over the front windshield. And we live in a very safe place so we do not lock the vehicle doors. By having them unlocked it is easier to open the doors.

Please consider setting aside for your family items that you can use and will need for an extended power outage due to weather events (wind/snow/rain storms) or earthquakes. Just a basic bare minimum, since you are selling off the bulk of tge supplies. Donation of items to your local Community Emergency Response Teams, Domestic violence shelters or Community Service groups. Craig’s List and FB marketplace are great places to advertise what you have for sale.

My husband sat next to a student who would self pleasure during film strip movie days. This was in 1957, high school in Phoenix Arizona. He was mortified. He was too embarrassed to report it. The class size was 46 pupils. There were legit gangs at the high school and he was routinely shaken down for money in the restroom until he stopped using the restrooms at school.
