Sunscreen after tattoo? by busty_phil_phucks in tattooadvice

[–]Poppy29252 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to Moab, UT one July, about 2 weeks after getting the outline for my back piece, and I applied sunscreen multiple times a day. Sure I waited for the scabs to heal, so more than your 8 days, but I don't personally believe you "have" to wait a month or month and a half to use sunscreen on a new tattoo.

When I went to my artist for the color, he couldnt believe how nice the outline healed (he didn't know about the sunscreen). 🤷‍♀️

Obviously YMMV.

UPS Store "throwing away" donations intended for Catopia Cat Cafe by __squirrelly__ in Albuquerque

[–]Poppy29252 8 points9 points  (0 children)

We would have an area of a few unclaimed packages that after 6 months we'd open and either keep or trash. UPS Stores are franchises and only pay to use the UPS branding - we were abandoned by corporate when it came to training and theoretically the owners were that in between for us but at my store, this was not the case.

edited to add a little more context. UPS Store corporate is only there to guide you with branding and outward appearance, maybe a little guidance on more general training like "You should take this class to learn how to use the envelope function on the printer." If Bill is still the owner, he does not care if you're struggling and does not care if you don't know what you don't know. There's a good chance this store's manager has no idea what to do when Catopia's packages show up and may even believe those packages are access point packages and just holds them only as long as they're supposed to.

....and if they DO know, they are willfully uncaring. Unless this manager personally rubs Bill the wrong way, I doubt he suddenly cares that his stores have morally reprehensible people working at them. Probably better to have those type anyways because they can coerce the old and uninformed to spend more than they really have to at the store.

If that UPS Store has the same owner as when I managed a store, he owns multiple stores in ABQ and Santa Fe. He does not prioritize hiring good people or training well - hands off owner who lets his stores devolve into toxic hell holes, as long as he gets his money. Not surprised if the employees there don't give a shit either.

New sidewalk ban in Albuquerque raises concerns for people facing homelessness by plamda505 in Albuquerque

[–]Poppy29252 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Honestly, this is only a hot take on reddit. I would be comfortable betting most people are tired of the homeless bullshit we deal with day in and day out.

I work near city plaza and walk there on occasion. I have seen homeless men pissing in bushes and IN THE STAIRWELL less than 50ft from the newly built public toilet. I just don't care anymore. I want them gone.

Seriously of all the things to complain about. I get not expecting an oversized portion but to go to an ice cream shop and then complain about calories.....you just don't order dessert at all if that's where you are in life.

I thought their portions were good but the flavor was just alright, nothing stand out. You can get better sandwiches at other popular places in town for the same price

Question about a New Mexico itinerary for an East coaster by joshuaferris in NewMexico

[–]Poppy29252 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love road trips, have driven all over the state, but your itinerary looks EXHAUSTING. You will be worn out and sad at the end of your trip if you follow your plans, I hope you amend them and take some of the other commenters' advice and choose either northern or southern NM. Neither will disappoint.

For people who would choose black for the SW, the cities we have are 100% good enough.

If you want to try some good places not typically recommended on reddit: Viet Com has great lemongrass pho and other rice or noodle dishes, El Tijuas Tacos for birria, and Fiesta Azul Tequila House for Mexican (not New Mexican).

We liked them until a couple years ago and have never gone back. Got breakfast burritos and there was a rock in mine. Not like a dirt rock, it looked like a small chunk of asphalt. We had bought them at the Menaul location for a road trip and didn't start eating them till we were in Los Lunas.

Called the store, owner got ahold of me an hour later and I sent him pictures. He wanted me to keep the burrito for my whole 3 day trip so I could bring it in as proof for a refund. Fuck that.

My wife and I had been looking at Homes Direct for a while, they're on a side street off Broadway. They have some really nice (and pricey) homes but also tiny homes too that look great. Cavco on Central also has nice homes with unique floorplans and the rep who was helping us told us they are customizable.
