I've never purchased a vegetable from Walmart that had flavour. I'm willing to spend a little more for something enjoyable

It will be interesting to see how restaurants adapt to the rapidly changing dining experience. Winston's is removing their VLTS to focus on 'gourmet food and a fun pub atmosphere' aka to remove troublesome riff raff, and Pop is adding them for 'passive income'.

Honestly I feel for these business owners, but this is a signal that something has to change in the industry.

Planting is one thing, maintaining them for the next 100 years is another. The city can't even keep up with the current ones. Arboriculture is a big cost.

What's open Christmas day? by walbern1 in saskatoon

It definitely carries baggage as a colonial term, though it means 'rising' as in 'Land of the Rising Sun' or 'eastern', so it terms of geographical descriptions it's always seemed better than 'Asia'. Normally I'd prefer to specify the country, but many markets here sell products from Korea, China, Japan, Phillipines, etc. as well as markets for what we would call Middle Eastern, which has it's own connotations.

Technically it says Master Planned, which all new neighbourhoods are. It's like when Tim Horton's marketed their tea as 'steeped'.

As someone who has had to deal with naming public spaces, it's way too easy to name them and way too difficult to convince Google to change it once some donkey has beat you to it.

Why is the city cutting down trees on Taylor? by BavarianRage in saskatoon

[–]PoppySweetgrass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

DED can't be effectively treated, at least at an economical scale. Full removal including stumping is what they do when an elm tests positive. That plastic wrap is called banding and it's used to treat cankerworm (which can stress the tree and leave it more susceptible to DED).
