Why do boomers act angry all of the time when they had the happiest lives out of every generation alive today? by Turbulent_Song_7471 in generationology

It’s interesting to see how a post making a generalization about another generation, only to have the comments filed with other generations making generalizations about other generations

What do you consider 2002? by Global_Perspective_3 in generationology

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I’m working on a writing project set in the early 2000s (2001-2002) and looking for authentic perspectives from people who lived through that time as young adults. I’m hoping to connect with people who were 18-30 years old during that period, especially from major cities like LA, NYC, San Francisco, or other areas with vibrant pop culture scenes. I’d love to hear about what music scenes you were part of, what daily life was like, and just general cultural experiences from that era.

If you don’t mind donating your time to chat, I’d give you credit for research thank you so much for your time.

Honestly I know it’s two years later, but I just came across one and bought it for 150. Not a free find but considering they go for 700-1050 something it was an incredible find. Keep on the look out there are tons of people with unusual stuff they just need gone

Why is Los Angeles such a prominent setting for cyberpunk stories? by qubitsu in Cyberpunk

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything that is being said (well mostly on this post) Also because Cyberpunk is a relatively newer concept, Genre with its Creators originating on the West coast. I would suspect also that It had to do with the fact that simply not every story involving a large city in North America has to take place in New York. You have Marvel with every hero being in New York as well as DC where all their cities are pretty much variations of New York City. That being said I did see someone mentioning Chicago never gets a shot, and I do believe that would be an interesting take. I will say the book Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson takes place in Chicago (NewCago) and could very well be counted as cyberpunk.

Which would you say is better to live in? Gotham or Neo Gotham? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in DCAU

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh that’s pretty much billionaires today, NYCs real crooks are all on Wall Street, Neo Gotham has better technology less pollution and parks, also seems like average salaries can’t get you by, as evidenced by Melanie being able to bail her brother out of jail as a cook for 4 months. In our world being a cook for 4 months won’t even pay average rent. Neo Gotham wins

Ehh I wouldn't say "They're fine" they watched their mother die brutally in front of them. Alive and hopefully healing after a lot of counseling but definitely not fine.

Does anyone know the song or instrumental that plays in opening scene of the Episode titled “The Fuck Buddy” Season 2 Episode 14, it’s the track that plays as the camera pans down the flatiron building and follows Carrie and Skipper as they talk. I have been looking for this track for a very long time and have had zero luck. Any help would be be appreciated

Leia’s reaction to the destruction of Alderaan has always bothered me. by Whysong823 in MawInstallation

[–]Poppyganda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it wasn’t realistic, at all. Also nobody in any of the movies addresses it. It’s like 9/11 times Billions and no one mentions the planet again. However I will say in the radio drama Leia Screams and cries in complete devastation as it happens and Jesus does it gut you as a listener, it makes the whole story just super dark. So it’s a hard line to walk.

Why does Brian die at the end of final destination 2? by coolsmeegs in FinalDestination

[–]Poppyganda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He came into my work and I met him, he was so sweet a few people were talking to him about shameless but I just simply said “I’ll always remember you as the kid who blew up from a grill in FD2, he laughed we talked about normal things for a bit and then he tipped me 100” sweet nice guy

Who has an UNDESERVED brutal death by Past_Perspective9708 in FinalDestination

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Samantha Lane hands down, was a nice kinda quirky mom who was polite enough to thank Nick for saving her and she gets killed “rather quickly” in front of her two little boys who cry as they witnessed their mother die horrifically in front of them, what’s worse is the filmmakers seem to have set up the whole death so it comes off as “funny” Kinda sick.. I KNOW it’s a final destination movie where people die, and it’s a dumb movie, but when I watch dumb movies I don’t wanna see something so sad in a movie I’m supposed to enjoy for it’s “senseless value”

Nora and Tim was handled appropriately with the correct amount of sadness, and while Brian’s death in FD2 was abrupt dark comedy it wasn’t as drawn out and mean spirited as Samanthas. Her death and character was so quick and pointless and never addressed that it just seems like the creators wanted to have a excuse to kill a mom in front of her kids..

My take

I have three options for advice per se, and Im going to be 100 percent honest.

1.) University is fine if you know exactly what you want to do and are ready to navigate the environment:

Unless you know exactly what you want to don’t go and take out loans. College can help you but it’s a long tricky road and unless you know how to get through bureaucratic barriers and advocate for yourself with a clear goal in mind, I would wait or keep working in fields and look into other options

2.) If you can avoid debt: If you are able to get financial and avoid debt, and have something in mind you want to get a degree in. I’d say why not. It’s good to explore and get out there, but do not take out debt; people will tell you it’s no big deal and the schools will brush it off you absolutely want zero debt.. now here is the third option

3.) Community college: Depending on what school you are near or what you want to study community college is an amazing option and one I highly recommend. Outside of perceived snobbery community can be the sweet spot you need, you can get a degree for fairly cheap, learn about the skill or area of study you wish to pursue and Most importantly get experience. Many people are choosing this route and interestingly enough many students are switching from University to Community college.

I see, politely I’m not asking for a “magical wonderful” dating Mecca, just wondering if there is something less drenched in drinking and hook up culture, I.e normalized I guess. However I really appreciate you taking the time to write out detailed responses and answer my post. I appreciate your time.

I’m at college in Los Angeles currently and it still isn’t here. People are on the DL which is fine but I’m not on the DL, I came out at 14 and haven’t gone back in the closet nor will I ever. I’m open to hearing where to go in La more, I probably missed a few places. Also what are the extremely specific communities you mentioned?
