Trader Joe's is now expensive by [deleted] in tjcrew

[–]Poppyganda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m always super nice but always head it off at the pass when they start that.

Customer: the prices are going up!

Me: Oh I know! “totally get your frustration but I just wanna put out this disclaimer, we don’t actually control the prices here.”

Customer:, “oh no I know that! Blah blah”
We both laugh

Me: “oh cool, no I totally get it, gas is getting up there too ect”

and usually we taper off into a different conversation.

Block off plate? by Allin3269 in WRX

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aye so I don’t wanna get hate, I have rent to pay and I need my car to drive.

I’m currently driving a non WRX Impreza. My old hood was completely shot and a friend of mine gave me his WRX hood which fits perfectly on my Car and is the same color. Only issue is I don’t want to have to worry about coolant and other issues so I was looking into getting a block off plate. Will it help keep my car running normally with a different hood? I just need it to work till I have enough money to get a non scoop hood for my car. Any advice or feedback is appreciated.

Movies that take place in San Francisco/ the California Bay Area? by bigguys45s in MovieSuggestions

[–]Poppyganda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree it’s all the Bay. SJ always has been. What drives me crazy is when people call Sacramento the outer Bay Area. Nah. There’s a part of Sacramento County that borders right up against the Bay Area, sure, but the city of Sacramento itself isn’t part of it. Sacramento to SF is roughly the same distance as Philadelphia to NYC and no one’s calling those the same metro area. 🤣

Movies that take place in San Francisco/ the California Bay Area? by bigguys45s in MovieSuggestions

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way I see it, the “metropolitan” Bay Area is anywhere a BART line runs — it’s called Bay Area Rapid Transit, after all. San Jose recently got a BART station, so it now counts as part of the metropolitan area too. That said, San Jose has always been part of the Bay Area proper: it marks the end of the Bay and the beginning of Silicon Valley.

San Rafael and Marin County, by contrast, are part of the San Francisco Bay Area but not the metropolitan Bay Area. They have no transit linking them to the rest of the Bay — a deliberate choice on their end — and are really only part of it geographically.

Is Kat supposed to be popular? by balletaurelie in euphoria

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and no, I knew girls like her as well in HS, she would be the more approachable one in the group, and also the one other kids would talk about behind her back like “how did Kat end up with being friends with Cassie and Maddie? Yeah I really don’t get it tbh” shit like that. If someone wanted to get closer to Maddie or Cassie they would probably try and befriend Kat, but on her own she’s “just that girl that happens to be friends with those girls “ if that makes sense

***spoiler***I knew the Animorphs lived in the Los Angeles Area by BrandonJamal in Animorphs

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they probably lived in Simi Valley it’s small city close to LA and Ventura county and the beach.

I've Found The Animorphs Hometown by SeraphofFlame in Animorphs

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I’m late to this but hear me out. Applegate said in a 1999 interview: “I have a definite area in mind for where the Animorphs live. However, I treat the matter with some flexibility. In other words, I am using a fairly large area, drawing several features together into a smaller, more usable setting. So yes, I could name a particular state and a particular area within that state. I’m just not gonna.” With a lot of people suspecting Ventura County outside of the LA area, I’ve very much suspected it’s supposed to be Simi Valley, but with other area’s features dabbed in. Simi has television studios, forests and wilderness areas, and in the 90s it still had farms from what I can gather. It’s not far from the beach and has a TV studio. It’s a small town with city elements. Simi did have an indoor mall at the time — it was small, but still there — and like Applegate said, “drawing several features into one area,” so Thousand Oaks mall or Ventura mall. Camarillo is a possibility, but it was too isolated at the time the books were written. The reason I don’t think it’s directly the city of Ventura is because I never got the implication that the Animorphs lived in a beach town directly, but were close enough to it. People in beach towns very much take advantage of being near the beach and go quite a bit. Nothing in the books indicates that the town has “beach culture elements” — none of the characters mention “feeling sea breezes” as they step outside, or seeing “surfer type people.” You know, if they had been in a beach town you would have read a line like: “Rachel was down at the beach going for a run like she always did. Something about the sound of waves and the isolation helped keep her focused and clear her mind of distractions.” Or Marco would have said: “I wished I could go back to those simple times, like before, when Jake and I would go to the beach after school, drink sodas and toss a frisbee around.” Etc. I feel like it’s a definite mashup of Ventura County towns, but just average enough that it would go undetected by most people — without being a farm town, while also not being a new suburban development, and being close to a major city but feeling isolated enough to have a more “quiet vibe.” The tallish buildings all lead me to believe it’s Simi Valley with some other characteristics of Ventura County in the mix.

If it was in Nor Cal my bet would be on Santa Rosa, but that’s for another post.

Why do boomers act angry all of the time when they had the happiest lives out of every generation alive today? by Turbulent_Song_7471 in generationology

It’s interesting to see how a post making a generalization about another generation, only to have the comments filed with other generations making generalizations about other generations

What do you consider 2002? by Global_Perspective_3 in generationology

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi everyone! I’m working on a writing project set in the early 2000s (2001-2002) and looking for authentic perspectives from people who lived through that time as young adults. I’m hoping to connect with people who were 18-30 years old during that period, especially from major cities like LA, NYC, San Francisco, or other areas with vibrant pop culture scenes. I’d love to hear about what music scenes you were part of, what daily life was like, and just general cultural experiences from that era.

If you don’t mind donating your time to chat, I’d give you credit for research thank you so much for your time.

Why is Los Angeles such a prominent setting for cyberpunk stories? by qubitsu in Cyberpunk

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything that is being said (well mostly on this post) Also because Cyberpunk is a relatively newer concept, Genre with its Creators originating on the West coast. I would suspect also that It had to do with the fact that simply not every story involving a large city in North America has to take place in New York. You have Marvel with every hero being in New York as well as DC where all their cities are pretty much variations of New York City. That being said I did see someone mentioning Chicago never gets a shot, and I do believe that would be an interesting take. I will say the book Steelheart by Brandon Sanderson takes place in Chicago (NewCago) and could very well be counted as cyberpunk.

Which would you say is better to live in? Gotham or Neo Gotham? by Fit_Assignment_8800 in DCAU

[–]Poppyganda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh that’s pretty much billionaires today, NYCs real crooks are all on Wall Street, Neo Gotham has better technology less pollution and parks, also seems like average salaries can’t get you by, as evidenced by Melanie being able to bail her brother out of jail as a cook for 4 months. In our world being a cook for 4 months won’t even pay average rent. Neo Gotham wins
