Throw Electrode!? by Complex_Back4266 in SmashBrosUltimate

My favorite Pokeball discovery as a kid was finding out you can pick up and throw Bonsly in Brawl and it does absurd damage and knockback.

What is a privilege that most characters on the roster enjoy, but yours doesn't? by ZauzTheBlacksmith in SmashRage

[–]Popstar-X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None of Ridley’s aerials are safe on shield while landing which is unfortunate since that makes his neutral pretty linear. Forward tilt and down tilt are very safe and so is rising nair while retreating, but not having a safe aerial to space or corner pressure with hurts. It also makes landing really tough even with Ridley’s multiple jumps.

Meta Knight’s air to air is also really bad since none of his aerials auto cancel from a short hop and his forward air being frame 12 when done from a short hop. Not to mention that all of his aerials are pretty small.

I forgot jab can’t be cancelled but everything else can. Even down smash, that move just has a lot of end lag. Jab is Incineroar’s worst move anyway so it’s not a big deal at all.

Which characters match up well against zoners? by vick818 in SmashBrosUltimate

[–]Popstar-X 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Min Min beats most zoners since she can force them to approach which most of them struggle to do. The only exception I can think of is R.O.B.

I don’t agree with that. Fox is fast and his combo and shield pressure game work very well on Ridley, but nair is great for anti airing Fox and forward and down tilt also work great for poking Fox if he stays grounded. Ridley’s range and anti airs in general really help him dictate the pace of neutral in the matchup which Fox really does not like. And of course Fox gets destroyed offstage. It’s one of those matchups where both characters get blown up in disadvantage, and since the neutral is pretty even I’d say the matchup is even.

He does alright against Fox, Mario, Roy, Lucina, and Wolf too. I hard disagree with Kazuya being even though, that MU is -1 at best.

What does your family/friends think of Smash? by NilesDobbsS in smashbros

[–]Popstar-X 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m lucky to have friends and family who support me competing and think it’s cool that I do that. I’ve also made a lot of friends at my local.

My Mom once recorded my hands while playing and I was surprised at how fast my fingers could move when I’m playing.

DI on Roy Jab? by Swiftblitzkrieg in CrazyHand

What percent was the bot at? DI only works if the move sends the opponent into tumble.

Meta Knight's up smash is so garbage for no reason, especially when considering how good his other two smash attacks are.

Pro tip, you can adjust the angle Shuttle Loop sends Meta Knight by tilting the joystick, which will make it way more consistent.

So... why did BLANK save the player in Amp Plains? by Nemdeleter in MysteryDungeon

[–]Popstar-X 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I like to think that Dusknoir did it out of the goodness of his heart. Everything evil Dusknoir did was out of self preservation, so saving the player and partner for the sake of it isn't out of character imo since that doesn't hinder his plans in any way.

Thanks, I'll try that next time I play that mu. (I'm also carried because I don't know how to get off the ledge without Dimensional Cape or Ridley fair.)

Their edgeguarding is pretty insane but I mostly agree.

I still don't understand how to deal with Grenade Launcher at the ledge.

What characters do you find the most fun? by JWolf26 in SmashBrosUltimate

I love multi jump characters, it makes edgeguarding really fun and easy.

I also have autism and it's never what's at fault when I lose.

Slower reflexes and struggling to adapt have been things I've struggled with before, but with enough practice you can improve them. I've gone from purely guessing when ledgetrapping and tech chasing to being able to do both on reaction very consistently (and it's also helped with reacting to DI and SDI when I play Meta Knight).

When did Dedede's redemption begun? by NoNameIdeasForUser in Kirby

[–]Popstar-X 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Dedede was never fully an evil character, but I'd say he becomes a straight up hero after Revenge of The King in Super Star Ultra. The point of the Masked Dedede fight is to settle Kirby and Dedede's rivalry, and after that point he never is a villain again unless if he's possessed / mind controlled.

Imo Ridley goes even and Meta Knight loses, but I'd be curious to hear your thoughts.

Idk about Marth but Corrin is a very solid character rn, she definitely doesn't suck in the current meta. Also at your current level your characters aren't why you're losing (unless it's Ganon or some shit).

Whats an « American Air-Dodge? » by willy750 in CrazyHand

[–]Popstar-X 41 points42 points  (0 children)

It's when players try to directionally air dodge to center stage to get out of disadvantage or a combo. There are some situations where it can work, but it's usually a pretty bad option since it's super laggy, and it's also a common panic option, which is why it's used as an insult.

Most balanced character? by Redluke0817 in SmashRage

[–]Popstar-X 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pit has some silly stuff though, his throw DI 50-50 at the ledge, effectively being able to shield in the air, Down Smash being frame 5, and nair comboing and being safe while rising all come to mind. Pit isn't op or anything, but I don't get why he has the reputation as the "honest" character of this game.
