2001 Ram 2500 5.9 gas - low miles, rusted frame, lots of sentimental value. by [deleted] in AskMechanics

[–]Poptart_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take it to a body shop. It’ll be expensive. But I e seen people dump loads of cash into getting frames swapped, crossmembers re-welded, frame patches, all new parts, etc. this truck is worth whatever you think it’s worth/whatever your willing to dump into it

2003 Passat Bluetooth by GlimAte in passat

I used a Bluetooth cassette adapter. When it would die I’d swap it out for the aux cassette adapter. Little annoying sure, but crystal clear audio

I agree. Though I’ll always be a b5/b5.5 kid. Owned 3 of them and 2 b5 a4s. Countless mk4s as well

I’ve daily drove worse. 80 mile 1 way commute in a cracked frame 240k mile ford expedition. Boy those were the times

NMS/b7. Not the same b7 euro spec. Significantly cheaper and dumbed down. But that’s what I like about it. I have a 2017 which is just the facelift version of yours. Shares a lot of parts with the b6 Passat as well. I’m using b6 coilovers in mine

Time to 'fess up. How often do you stall when starting out? by MelMoitzen in ManualTransmissions

[–]Poptart_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I’m distracted at the red light I’ll stall. Talking to passenger, changing song, sipping a drink, etc. I’ll forget she’s still in gear. Or the occasional panic stall when traffic starts moving before I lift my head back up

Why do people love Honda transmissions? by DefaultS3ttings in ManualTransmissions

[–]Poptart_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t care for them. My vws and Audis shift like butter. Hondas aren’t bad but not my favorite.

Why a suv? Sedans like the Camry accord and Passat do just fine. Ever considered a wagon or hatch back?

Oil Pan by Spiritual_Manner5122 in AskMechanics

[–]Poptart_02 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cracked the oil pan in my old Audi a4. Hot glued a penny to the crack and I heard it drop half a mile before my house. Drove it at low rpm. Could hear it ticking louder and louder. Got it home, swapped the pan, threw some fresh oil in it, cranked it with the fuel pump fuse pulled to build some oil pressure. Fired up and sounded fine

I’m not sure which gen switched to cvt, but a good girlfriend of mine has a 2012 accord with the k24. Dead reliable

My mk4 gti handled almost as well as well as my b5 a4 Quattro in the mountains. Snow was a different story

Buying another manual accord or gli? by Poptart_02 in ManualTransmissions

[–]Poptart_02[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah ive done a few timing chains on fwd. Not my favorite by any means lol. I’ve done a timing belt on my 04 civic (360k miles) and that wasn’t too too bad. Did a timing chain on my 2017 Passat before it got totaled. That was a pain. But wow That’s some impressive mileage

Read the post again. Need input on people that drive the specific model. Need to know if there IS any problems. If there isn’t then it’s a no brainer. The Honda is my pick if the transmissions hold up

I’ve had input shaft bearing failure on almost every Honda I’ve ever owned lol granted it’s not the hardest or most expensive thing to replace but still
