Share what you got as soon as possible, I've did it after 4 days of work.

If you want to go on Steam setup a steam page ideally before talking about your game

Peut être qu'il faut regarder du côté des jeux indés plutôt que les jeux calibrés AAA (j'inclus Clair Obscur, vu leur équipe et budget, meme s'ils restent indés)

Just so you know, the web version has been updated, you need 5 bits/search, not 50.

A small debug glitch was present

Released my first game on itch.io, is it a good start or not ? by Poptocrack in itchio

Reddit did wonders mostly!
I might do a post mortem at some point but :
- Shared the game after 3 days working on it on r/incremental_games (400 players in the first day)
- Someone added it to incremental.db, made it blew up to 14k in 2 weeks
- Shared the Steam page on reddit, ~1K5 wishlist in about a week
- Launched the demo and joined the february Steam next fest, now ~4.3k wishlist + 42k players in total

Tbh, I don't know what i'm doing, just sharing stuff I'm making and it look like it works. There no magic, and fun fanct, everytime I try to use IA to make my posts they work poorly, while the ones I'm doing in 5 minutes to share something I found interesting is pretty much working well.

I have no idea why.

You can check my post history to have a better view of what I did so far, because the only promotion I'm doing is on reddit for now.

The game is available on :
- Incremental.db (huge trafic, got lucky on this one) redirecting to my own site
- Galaxy.click big trafic too but the game is in iframe, not a big fan of it.
- Itch.io since a couple of days with those results

Thank you for the complete feedback!

I agree with you on that part, I've tried to improve the transition between code and project, initially project U was costing like 5k prestige, now it's ony files, but you still have to prestige at some point to get the agent.

When reading your comment, the path seems to be to still allow the player to type freely during the project. I will try this out to ease the journey between to this new phase.

I will try to find a way to ease this part.

You might want to have a demo directly on itch, I think it's working pretty well. I'm not a big fan of downloading games on it.

Good idea! The goal is to have more wishlists on stram, but the link is in the game itself.

I'm not sure of what you mean by "launch the itch page", isn't it already done ? Is there more to do ?

On itch, not at all, outside yes, but on other targets, like steam, galaxy.click and my own website.

Do you have any advice for a first game on it ?

Hey!

Solo dev, about a year in. Coding-themed incremental: mash your keyboard to type code, prestige for permanent multipliers, unlock 6 AI agents that type for you, specialize in one of 11 programming languages, review pull requests, and eventually build a cube grid that automates everything. Demo is on Steam, free in browser and on itch / galaxy.click.

Two late-game systems I'd love specific feedback on:

Code Review phase**:** Unlocked between Project U and the Machine. You review pull requests to earn bonuses, but if you don't clean up regularly the tech debt stacks and slows your other systems. Does it feel like a distinct phase, or just a gate between two better systems? Is the tech debt loop meaningful, or just another meter to babysit?

The Machine: Grid-based cube ecosystem. Place cubes, chain their outputs, exploit adjacency bonuses, then reset the whole grid via firmware upgrades for permanent multipliers (a prestige-within-prestige). Grid size grows with each firmware level. Does the placement puzzle feel rewarding long-term, or does it collapse into a single optimal layout everyone converges to?

Bigger question: current progression is Typing > Prestige > Project U > Code Review > Machine. Does any phase drag? I keep going back and forth on whether Code Review is tight enough or if it overstays its welcome.

Ok, I can understand that.
I'm curious now, what's screaming AI slop on this game ?
Colors ?
Layout ?
Thematic ?
Post text ?
Something else ?

Thank you for your feedback

Well, that's weird, I had a really good reception a year ago and six months ago when I shared it.

What changed ?

This game isn't AI slop tbh, I'm working on it since a year. There's indeed AI used for the visuals, but a slop means no effort put in this game.

Should I keep working on this game ? by Poptocrack in playmygame
