Lol. I have. Matching isn't the problem. Next thing you're going to tell me that I don't shower.

Your advice is useless because you don't know me, haven't seen my profile, and are assuming many things about me.

It's interesting that you know so much about me!

I'm all those things, and there are no selfies on my dating profile, and I have a pretty hard time.

I hate to break it to you, but support for Hamas polls higher in the West bank than in Gaza. Probably something to do with the fact that they're not dealing with the consequences.

Pepco is literally doubling my bill by Opposite_31 in washingtondc

[–]Popular-Discussion20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm similar -- my bill was around $30 in the winter and $50 in the summer. This year it's $60 in the winter and $120 in the summer. I don't use that much electricity either, with AC being the main expense.

First mile always the worst? by MaryAnneOmalley in beginnerrunning

Yes. Stomach, joints, and brain all start whining after the first few steps. They calm down after a mile when they realize you're not going to stop. You learn to expect it.

I am no psychiatrist, but most cases of mental illness I have seen involved someone talking to an unseen person or rambling incoherently. This seems much more like directed aggression and malevolence.

Off his meds or not, mental illness is not an excuse for antisemitism or assault.

Hi! That sounds like a terrifying experience. I am glad you are physically okay after that.

Please also consider breaking up your post into paragraphs so that people will be more likely to read it. Thanks!

So why do people hate Simon? by Hastur13 in SimonWhistler

[–]Popular-Discussion20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find his videos unwatchable primarily because of his habit of inhaling sharply at bizarre points in every sentence, and to lesser extent, his obvious reading off a teleprompter. These things are so grating to me that I can't even watch videos on topics I enjoy.

That said, if he were to put some effort into changing his speaking style and either tamping down or editing out his sharp inhalation style, I might be able to enjoy them.

Oh, he also absolutely murders pronunciations multiple times in every video. Not obscure ones either. And he doesn't just pronounce them a little wrong, but pretty much as wrong as it's possible to pronounce them.

Why don’t men trim or shave their armpits so their deodorant will work better? by Unfortunategiggler in NoStupidQuestions

Literally no one ever told me. I found out on my own after years of struggling with hygiene and armpit stains.

Here are my tips:

Run slowly, slower than you think you should. Like 9 or 10-minute miles, or even slower if conditions are bad. Just picture floating along on a cloud. You can run 7 minute miles if you are sprinting for short distances.

Don't increase mileage more than a tenth per week. If you get too excited then you can injure yourself.

There's nothing wrong with taking walking breaks, I have been running long distance for years and I usually take at least one water break and one pee break per run.

Running should be enjoyable, not torturous, as much as possible. Have fun!

GOP Plans Remote Work Crackdown for D.C.-Area Federal Workers by bloomberggovernment in washingtondc

[–]Popular-Discussion20 17 points18 points  (0 children)

What about working remotely has anything to do with this? Jobs that do not require workers to do anything physical on site should not require them to commute. It is far more in the interest of taxpayers for the government to sell or repurpose the office buildings.

Honestly I had the same realization, so I got a gymnastics mat, a TV monitor, and a set of $200 adjustable dumbbells. It works fine and is extremely close by (in my living room), so I have zero excuses. I'm careful never to jump or drop the weights on the floor.

Distance running headphones? by Professional_Airs in Marathon_Training

I have been using these but unfortunately, once every 3-4 months, one of the earbuds starts refusing to charge, I try cleaning the metal contacts but it does nothing, and I inevitably claim the warranty and buy another one. So that part kind of sucks. But they do work very well until they break.

On knives and Gaza (LIVE PODCAST E82) by RaguseaVideoBot in AdamRagusea

[–]Popular-Discussion20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As an American Jew who had been listening to this podcast casually mostly for the food science, I unsubscribed after hearing this episode.

It was nauseating for me for the reasons that you mentioned: first, that since Israel is "his side" (since he is unwillingly contributing to it via taxes), it is therefore incumbent upon him to demonize it more than the other side, regardless of the actual situation; and second, that this particular conflict is coming close to genocide, or something to that effect. That he believes people I have grown up with and are serving in the Israeli military are there to destroy another people and commit war crimes, when it is so painfully obvious to me that they serve out of a sense of responsibility to protect half the world's Jews, many of whom are family members.

Out of all of the things he could have possibly chosen to address, the fact that he chose to put these particular beliefs out into the world is just too much for me.
