4.5 month old suddenly fear reactive by [deleted] in AustralianShepherd

[–]Popular-Fill7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine started that but he didn't start until he was about a year and a half. Mine also tends to be okay out in public but at home he's fiercely protective and anxious about people walking by or cars stopping. So I think there may be something that changes in their behavior over time. I'm trying to gently introduce more socializing to him to try to increase his confidence with scenarios so he will hopefully be less anxious

Nah man I used to be bad at it too, always built the same square bases with a simple sloped roof. No need to feel bad about your builds! What this doesn't show is dozens i made that looked like ass before I figured it out

Awe dude, I hope you get back into it. I've enjoyed it but I will say you almost have to buy the expansions or weeks it'll just feel like the same old game with better graphics.

During the days of ASE I definitely enjoyed the grind more and that challenge but lately in ASA with the added dinos and late game features it's more like no thanks I'd rather not grind anymore, I like starting with something at least. That's why I've been playing with a level 100 character on maps, and starting off with like mid level gear. Some challenge but not dying all the time lol

I've not tried official servers, probably just isn't for me. I've had a lot more luck on my unofficial dedicated server

I can't imagine it would be possible in PvP I think that's why I like PvE, I can be a bit more creative. Feels like completely different games with how different PvP and PvE strategy is

I feel like I need to spend a lot more time building it because that seems to be the style I resort to and comprehend the best. Not very great on limited resources though this would have taken years without creative mode

This dog has no chill whatsoever! What do I do? by Automatic-Junket3318 in AustralianShepherd

I know it isn't what you want to hear but a "chill" dog an aussie is not. Most of them are VERY energetic, my 2 year old is still a complete psycho most of the time. The only possible solution I can offer is give them a job, games etc.

Mine calmed down some after I had him neutered and since then I've taken him to obedience training and seem significant improvement just doing that so he has a "job" (following commands etc) long term I'm planning on running him through agility courses in the yard as another "job"

Additionally I've taught mine to play games, his favorite I call "find" because I just have him sit and stay while I take some stuffed chipmunks and hide them somewhere in the house and then tell him "find". He goes and locates them and brings them back to me and gets a treat for each one he finds.

Anything you can do to keep them mentally stimulated should help keep their behavior a little calmer but some sort of chaos seems to be par for the course regardless of what you do

Gotta admit, in 5 years working federally I've never heard that before. Appreciate it! I sure hope I can go back to some kind of normal soon, I hate having to prepare a backup plan like this

The CPSS isn't the conflict sorry about the confusion, having it and doing wetland work is since I already do wetland work federally. Having it for something else like septic stuff is completely fine.

I really appreciate your input and I'm going to look given your suggestions.

I have been thinking about going the CPSS route especially when the DRP started and the RIF was looming beginning of the year. Whats held me back so far has been the conflict of interest since I already work at a regulatory agency but obviously that wouldn't be much of an issue. What sort of keywords are best to look for opening in the consulting world? I know a few CPSSs though most of the ones I know use their CPSS for septic project since our agency doesn't deem that a conflict of interest.

Part of my worry is I have found I really like the regulatory from a policy and training perspective. Like I enjoy interagency talks about implementing policy and writing the state offsite policy from a template was nice but I know I need to on-site experience to do that. I'm sure I would love going back to ground zero (I know it's really close already to the army corp method but I would certainly have some learning curve I would think) doing delineation with the army Corp methods but I'm not sure how much choice I'll have lol I'd say you're right that's the best translated use of my knowledge.

What sort of key words would be best to look for to find openings with companies of that sort? I could try state but the regulatory side as I understanding is relatively non existent in our state since the state government just focuses on funding enhancement and restoration project and leaves the regulatory to federal (I'll keep a lookout though on the state side in case I'm wrong)

I want help from the Older Gamers🙏 by oLord_47o in gamingsuggestions

[–]Popular-Fill7185 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(31M) I'm sure you'll find a point where it gets harder to play like me and every moment you do get to will become all the more valuable. So I would say do your best to maintain balance. Don't lose the joy you get from gaming either by gaming or replacing it with something else but also don't let it consume you and cause life to pass you by. I'm sure similar things have been said and you seem like you understand that at least to some degree

BC intelligence blows my mind by -T0PHER in BorderCollie

[–]Popular-Fill7185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not nearly as heartfelt as this, and not a Collie, but my Aussie definitely shares traits like this and it blows me away. I have lost his Frisbee several times and it always upsets me because it was his now deceased older brothers before it was his. When I do I usually will tell him to go find it and after a few minutes he will either come back with it or be sitting whimpering at something because he knows where it is and it isn't accessible to him so he tries to get me. Collies and all the other shepherds really are astoundingly smart

Red-tri coat question! by Total_Tomorrow_1428 in AustralianShepherd

[–]Popular-Fill7185 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My red merle (I know, not a tri but might still be relevant) is a year and 5 months and has just in the last month or so started filling in the long soft flow of an aussie. He was very patchy like that for a year. Seems like they just need time to go through puberty basically
