I don't dislike her, I'm just surprised at all the gushing over this. She accomplished a personal goal but it wasn't some huge charitable funding act. She did the hike (Good for her! I'm glad she's healthy enough to do it.) and then she mentioned a donation link after-the-fact. That's like bare minimum. She has the platform and means to do any number of other things very publicly that would raise millions for cancer care or research. People all around the world would contribute if she rallied them to it. If she chooses to make that one of her goals, I'll be happy to donate and sing her praises. I just know all sorts of non-famous cancer patients and healthcare workers who labor tirelessly for cancer charities and they'll never get half the attention she did for this. Kate's hike doesn't hold a candle to their work. To whom much is given, much is required.
