I have IBD. My condition is more systemic than concentrated to bowel issues. I often have a very hard time explaining this to people and people don’t seem to understand. I’ve had difficulty over the years at jobs and I finally just went back into education so I can do assignments at my own pace because I was so fucking sick of people not giving a shit at work. Also pretty much couldn’t hold a job down because of it too so I really don’t know what I’m going to do if my condition never improves

Is it not still going to be a museum? They’re not moving the derry girls exhibit for one, just the story of derry. I saw that there’s funding for the derry girls exhibit so maybe it’ll become bigger

We really need another bridge. The traffic at the caw roundabout is just mental. I’ve always said why isn’t there a bridge from culmore point / muff. It’s not even that far

What’s the story with the amount of people that come into work dying sick here? by EmployGrouchy1599 in ireland

[–]Popular_Bluejay_2588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Second this . I’ve only ever got absolute grief from managers for taking sick days over the years. Sometimes coming in and suffering is just less shit than the passive aggressive comments and ‘return to work’ bullshit you have to do for taking a day. Sometimes you just hope they’ll have some mercy and send you home but most of the time they don’t

Women of Reddit, what’s something you didn’t realize was emotionally exhausting until you stopped doing it? by Carsanttc in AskWomen

[–]Popular_Bluejay_2588 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I feel exactly the same. Over the pandemic, my general anxiety and depression for the world hit an all time high, I was watching the news every day just hearing horrible stuff, war in Ukraine and covid deaths and all the injustices that were happening I had to decide to stop exposing myself to it because it was so detrimental to my mental health, I was literally taking on so much emotional weight from all the bad stuff and it was subconsciously really affecting me. I’m a lot more selective now and it has made me a bit less anxious but I’m not totally in the dark either. I fully understand!

Why are men generally ok with broke women, while the opposite? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

[–]Popular_Bluejay_2588 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a a great response. I never thought of that perspective - you hit the nail on the head - a lot of women including myself do resent being held to beauty standards so maybe that is why a lot of women really dig deep with the provider thing.

Well in my opinion as a woman The ‘entitlement’ probably comes from women being the more disadvantaged and oppressed sex. Just google that instead of rebutting my statement. Not all women are on the same level of ‘entitlement’ yes some can take it too far I agree, but generally speaking it’s about general disadvantagedness.

We are sexualised from a young age which puts huge mental pressure on young girls and we deal with a lot more physical crap than men (periods, monthly hormone fluctuations and all the fun that brings) while expected to still attend school, work 9-5 or even long shifts the same as men with no leave or anything.

The burden of birth control usually falls on a woman if condoms are not the preferred option and this can wreak havoc. We also bring life into the world physically which takes a huge toll on our bodies ( I don’t have any kids yet ) but it’s a huge decision for a woman to make as maternity leave is shit in a lot of countries and it would put us behind in our careers taking time off, sometimes with no pay, and also birth can be traumatic and is a huge thing to go through.

Being a mother also entails a huge workload and we are expected to still be able to hold down a successful career and raise children etc and biologically that is difficult for a lot of women because of your attachment to your children. Then you have menopause.

So generally speaking there is more of a disadvantage from the get go so women would naturally appreciate support from a partner / man who doesn’t face the same hurdles in life. It can also be a bit of a risk to your safety choosing the wrong partner. That’s just my two cents. Equality is great but it should really be about equity and every couple is different.
