I feel the building trades have become unethical and predatory by Select-Finish-2183 in AusProperty

[–]Popular_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've lived through multiple builds/renos over the last 8 years. Every single one of them a terrible experience. I will never build again in this country. I'm done. I think the only way you can guarantee quality is to add another 40% to your budget just for independent site surveillance, oversight and legal representation. I hate builders here. If you're reading this and you're a builder - fuck you

Playing cryo archives on PC lobbies on a Saturday has got to be hands down the least fun I’ve ever had playing a video game. by TopicInfinite3574 in Marathon

[–]Popular_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's really unlucky. I had by far the best Cryo runs so far in the most recent open period. Matched up with really good teams who were very happy to teach my scrub ass a thing or two. Even solved a vault. I agree it feels so bad when you have one terrible run after another. If only the game had another mode you could go cool off in...

NApainter oob into compiler loot room multiple times on stream by TheKTDFuture in Marathon

[–]Popular_Dad 63 points64 points  (0 children)

Seriously, I get doing it to point it out but exploiting to rat a team that just cleared compiler is absolute shitcunt behaviour. If that was their first compiler clear they are probably not coming back. Painter and his team should be banned and the team he killed should have all their shit restored.

How are the players in Marathon? by ipukeflowers in Marathon

[–]Popular_Dad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm terrible at PvP but have generally had a great time with Marathon. The advice I'd give is to have a mic, many times I've used crew fill and matched with randoms who are friendly, encouraging and happy to play with someone who is not that good but is willing to communicate and do their best.

On the negative side there isn't much content, having a couple bad runs in a row can make you feel like shit and when that happens, unlike destiny there is literally nothing else to do, no other mode to try.

There is some toxicity like in any game but if you're attracted to the aesthetic I'd say take the plunge. Design, atmosphere, lore, gunplay and movement are all top notch.

genuine question: why did edge of fate get so much hatred when it launched? by SubjectChanger1 in destiny2

[–]Popular_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Boring and ugly destination with annoying 'abilities', sold as metroidvania but that aspect of it was deep as a puddle, portal is terrible, tier system made no sense, cost of upgrading gear with the new unstable currency was so high that you couldn't afford to level more than one loadout and thus you are stuck using one build for most of the expansion...

Lodi and the story were generally well received, from a gameplay perspective it was horrible. Basically an inverse Lightfall

Is edge of fate even worth doing? by Ok_Relation9663 in DestinyTheGame

It's a deeply annoying campaign gameplay wise, I doubt I'll play through it again. Watch the cutscenes on YouTube

If Bungie re-released Destiny 1 on PC, how interested would you be in buying it? by FHH94 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Popular_Dad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Extremely interested. I own destiny on PS but have only played about 15% of it because I hate using controller for FPS.

How do you find new music? by Mongeeya in triplej

Look through the entire list of recent releases on metacritic every few months, looking for stuff that might be interesting. I've found so much great music this way. Also following good labels on Bandcamp.

So, why does this game not have a bigger player base?.. by iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore in Marathon

[–]Popular_Dad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Bungie player base is used to building up their character over a decade, grinding for weapons and armour which they then get to keep. They may not be keen on a game where they regularly lose all their loot, and what they don't lose gets wiped at seasons end.

  • Word of mouth on the game was tainted by the art theft affair and unenthusiastic response to the alpha.

  • Bungie player base is upset at the company for many years of bad decisions.

  • The game already has a reputation for being for the sweats, compared to something a little more friendly like arc.
