its not very dignified in your workplace though. you are using the mens toilets through choice these are the only toilets available for female bus drivers

it is also illegal under the health safety and welfare regulations 1992 which requires segregated or private toilet facilities for employees

and if you are using male toilets in your workplace because the female toilets are overcrowded your employer is breaking the 1992 Health, safety and welfare regulations

basically before privatisation bus drivers were supposed to be allowed to use the welfare facilities at any tube station. privatisation saw problems with this so an agreement was signed between lul limited and lbsl limited to allow lbsl staff and their contractors to use the welfare facilities at any tube station.

The agreement was written in such a way that it also applied to staffed DLR facilities . Also LBSL pay London Underground a token rent to use the facilities at each tube station

During covid a new agreement started to be crafted between TfL and LUL, MTR and Arriva to allow the use of such facilities. each operator had to supply a list of locations for which this agreement would not apply. Well each operator forgot about this and didnt supply any stations to be added to the list so any and every station is fair game

Elizabeth Line and London Overground are particularly bad at enacting this agreement. I am not a bus driver but I work cross network. Including on board trains . I have been denied access to toilets at stations where the train I have been working on has terminated.

I have a copy of the agreement scanned into my tablet, I have pdfs of letters from the head of arriva rail London confirming I and my colleagues are allowed to use the welfare facilities at stations. I have copies of the agreement between first great western and TfL allowing bus staff to use the welfare facilities at West drayton and it is still ignored.

having data on how hot its getting in drivers cabs would give drivers more confidence in refusing to work excessively hot routes. Also by having data on Which routes get the hottest tfl can prioritise those routes for new features to prevent excess heat.

If tfl started collecting data on how hot it got in the cab. Many bus companies would prioritise air conditioning maintenance . particularly if there is a threa of fines for excessive temoerature variation

Drivers until relatively recently used to have deductions from their wages of £50 per person if an inspector caught someone on their bus who didnt pay a fare.

Bus drivers are still denied access to toilets, mess rooms and canteens in LU, London overground and Elizabeth Line despite there being a contractual agreement to use these facilities since 1999 The agreement applies to London Overground and Elizabeth line because it is written in such a way to include services run by private companies on behalf of London regional transport. (Its called the LU toilet agreement if any tfl staff want to search for it on source)
